Pentagenarians & Beyond 3/6

No workout yesterday as it was my rest day. Had an early appointment in Battle Creek to get the new low pressure fuel pump to take care of my recall issue, then drove an hour to E. Lansing to shop and do errands. Had been awake since 3:30, so by the time I put away groceries I was pretty much done for the day! This morning I quick threw together a workout using the cardio and ab work from Low Impact Circuit. Just the step combos no blasts. Got a good workout with it. I did have to much help with the abs though as Mopsy woke up and saw that I was on the mat which apparently equals an invitation to come flop on and under me. And he loves my hair so I have to hold it with my hands to keep him from attacking it. In excellent news, the zoo called Derek this morning to tell him that he got the internship! Starts Mid-May and since they open May 1, he should be able to get in a couple weeks at the gift shop first. The red-wing black birds have been back for a couple weeks, but we got snow today and they arrived to eat en masse! Easily over 100 of them.

Carolyn great job with Rev'd up Rumble and Perfect Pump Lower Body! I hope your husband's appointment went well.

Valerie that is so cool that you got to see the whale(s) spouting! Wow! Wonderful that the weather has been cooperating so that you can snowshoe, hike and ride!

Judy great job with Cardio Fit and Power Splits? Did you get snow today, too? We got about 3", but it's already melting and within a few days we're going to be in the 50's, so it will go away soon enough.

not doing any cardio today, did enough for the last few days. when weather is dry, we tend to charge out there and do something/anything. yesterday wasn't great, gray skies, but for mt biking I think it's actually better. 40 degrees, the lower end of what's fun. a lot easier to do strenuous riding if it's cool for the uphills, but it gets downright cold on the downhills. windchill! easy to go over 20 mph downhill if conditions are ok. important to wear the right clothes. we have a 3 layer system that works well for us( trial and error) and have heavier gloves. braking and shifting requires some mobility so really heavy gloves or mitts don't work.
going into a wet streak and indoor will be better.

cathy cats all seem to love to get in your face during a workout. our cats used to try to get on the treadmill. not many times though! great your son got the internship.

carolyn I assumed you go to the neurology appt with your husband? i think that's great. it's amazing how much one person can miss when they are a little nervous. two sets of ears are so much better.

Today I did KCM’s Body Design, Cardio Bootcamp and Kickboxing with Weights. That was 31 minutes and 228 calories burned. Average heart rate was 135 and maximum heart rate 156. This is one of those DVDs with several 15 minute workouts and you pick and choose what you want.

Cathy, great job with your Low Impact Circuit workout. That’s wonderful that your son’s summer plans are coming together. My husband’s appointment went well.

Valerie, nice job getting in as much outside activity as possible. It’s very cold here this weekend. Some areas even had snow. I just made some vegetable soup to go with our salad or sandwich lunch. My husband loves his sandwiches! This type weather calls for something warm. Yes, I go to all neurology appointments with him. In fact, the doctor prefers that another person is there to take notes, and answer questions. Parkinson’s patients don’t always have an accurate picture of how they move.

Waving hello to Judy and Diane Sue.
