My cardiovascular appointment went well today. No meds, so I am happy. I left at 9 this morning for this appointment and did not get home till 1. I had such a headache by the end of waiting. The doctor said the ultrasound looked like the leaky valve was better than before. My calcium score is okay. Blood pressure was up a bit there. I told him it was less before I came in. He said they expect it to be higher with most patients when they come in. How relaxed can a person be after doing the ultrasound and waiting in the waiting room, then waiting in the exam room for so long? He said we just need to check once in a while since Rheumatoid arthritis does attack arteries. He said I am active and take care of it so that is good. Odd though as I was surprised how much weight he had gained since I last saw him.
It was funny this evening my husband was feeding our fish and I caught site of a little tiny fish coming out to get food before one of the big ones went after it. One of our cichlids gave us babies! I am hoping they don't eat it or something. I don't know if there is just one or I am seeing different little striped fish coming out. We have lots of hiding places in the tank. Fish are funny. They know my husband is the one that feeds them. He gets out of his chair and heads that direction and they all see him from a distance and come out in a group. They do not do that to me.
Valerie, the woman that did my ultrasound said she had the same surgery I did in 2013. She said she is sure she is going to need it again on the other shoulder, but knowing how painful it was, she is putting it off.
It really does hurt to twist or turn to pick up things with the good arm. I hurt for a long time in my chest wall. My bones and other muscles all felt like they had all been through trauma. I kept wondering if it was my breasts, but it was really tender around the bony areas. Thankfully that has subsided. I have been worried about the upcoming mammogram. Shoulder surgery is a lot of trauma. At least compared to other surgeries I have had. My knee swelled twice it's side, but the pain was nothing like the shoulder. I have never used a whole bottle of pain pills till this surgery. And that was trying to get buy longer and off and on use Advil 800m mg. It was all too much on my stomach. I am glad that is all over. It has been 3 months and I today was the first time I had a longer drive that did not cause my shoulder to hurt. It is mildly achy tonight, but so much better and not like it hurt before surgery. If groceries were stocked up ahead and non perishable items your sister might do okay. I have ordered shelf stable Califa Farms Barista oat milk and oatmeal packets, canned foods, water packs, tuna and that sort of thing in bulk packs from Amazon. So, a person could possibly survive. No fresh fruit and veggies though. I cannot imagine your sister trying to get in and out of a tub with one arm. Not only that, I was told to shower and not get the arm in the water at first. Wrap it in plastic wrap. Plus, a few times stepping in the tub to shower, I slipped and just gently bumping the shoulder hurt. My husband kept telling me to use the walk in shower. He was sleeping and I did not want to go to the master bath to do that and I am not one to wait till late in the day to take a shower.
Too bad your sister cannot watch a YouTube of what the surgery entails. I watched some and it kind of made me cringe. My PT said the muscles have to relearn the movement. I doubt your sister would be one of those people that would follow orders and do what they are told to do to get better. They say the shoulder is in play for most things we do.
Carolyn, yes, that is the aunt I was talking about. She was something else and it seemed weird that through this pandemic I only was able to catch her on facebook letting people know she was okay. I had sent e mails and everything and kept wondering what was up. I was worried as she was one to just be by herself. I think she enjoyed the company of some of the other people her age that travelled and when she went to certain campgrounds. Nice work on stacked sets.
Cathy, good idea to do something else if the knee does not feel quite right. It got up to upper 70's today. Weather is so weird since we just had snow and weather in the teens. It melted off pretty quickly though. We are dealing with the usual March winds. I had to slow down before surgery because that shoulder hurt so much. I am doing so much better. Pretty happy with it today
Around here it seems both Lowes and Home Depot leave stuff out in front of the stores. Even Walmart would have all of their bags of mulch and those items sitting out in the parking lot. I often wondered how they kept the stuff from being taken. Maybe cameras? Or maybe we have less thieves around here. I never did get why they did that. Sprouts put florals, plants, pumpkins and melons out in front of the store. I am sure they did not drag all of that in and out every day. The thing with the melons though, is I think they were putting them out to get sun and ripen. When they did that and then they went inside, they were not very good watermelons. I got better at Walmart.
