Pentagenarians & Beyond: 11/24/2024

Today I just did Chair Yoga. Derek got a taste of why I never wanted him to make that drive to work in the winter today. He left a bit early and still just got to his parking spot at start time. I'm sitting here happily in I don't have to go anywhere unless I want to land.

Valerie doctors do often make the worst patients. Part of it probably it the wider knowledge of what things can be. I hope the MRI gives answers. My Dad has one of those silly prescriptions that are like that. I think it's less than .05. LOL

The WORST! part of what's driving the BP issues are.... being worried about BP issues. I have no idea how long it takes to schedule a MRI.. as long as its negative it will settle things down. much of this is stress driven. it's possible there is something else going on. that unknown is enough to keep the stress ball rolling. I think he needs some anti anxiety meds to settle him down and break the pattern. anti anxiety meds along with pain meds are hard to get these days even when they are definitely indicated, kind of a lingering effect from the oxycodone fiasco. pain and anxiety are real issues and they dont get treated much anymore.
my computer is working ok this morning, but last night after dinner it would not connect to the internet. turned off/on and still wouldn't. hopefully talking to Dell soon.

hoping everyone had a pleasant turkey day!

This morning I did KCM’s Cardio Fit, workout one. This one is kickboxing mixed with intervals of lower body weights. That was 30 minutes, 214 calories burned, 134 average heart rate and 155 maximum heart rate. Then I did STS 2.0 Chair Yoga.

Valerie, I’m glad that your husband’s problem was not a stroke. Hopefully they can get his blood pressure under control.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner High Intensity Step, Flow with Mira Thoracic Spine Mobility, and JS Total Body.

Judy, nice job with light rowing and total body workout. I’m sorry that you had to cancel PT because of car problems.

Cathy, great job with your barre mix, extended stretch, and Chair Yoga.

Hello to Shannon.

Yesterday I did Annie Pilates Physical Therapist progression costochondritis fix with a band pilates/yoga 21 minutes. I think it is the 3rd in a progression of the costochondritis workouts. It was hard. Partly because she was using a yellow band, so I pulled out Cathe yellow which was really hard. I can really feel it now. I lowered near the end when I realized I was using the extra heavy band. Next, I did her Fusion progression Costochondritis Pilates yoga dumbbells (3#) fix, 21 minutes (improves posture and health. finishing with her 5 under 10 costochondritis/Tietz syndrome yoga & Pilates Fix 10 minutes The one I did Tuesday used the foam roller near the end. I ended with the back pod. Hope I did not overdo it. These workouts really work on the upper back and shoulders, posture muscles and stretches blended in.
I always look up the instructors background stuff. Her full name is Anabelen Aranton PT. She uses Anna as a shorter name. There are quite a few pages about her online to learn about her. Is a PT, a lot of years of Pilates and Yoga training along with being a PT and all of her education. She has a lot of stuff on her youtube page. https://www.anniepilatesphysicaltherapist.com/new-page-1

Today I did Intensity Series Cardio & weights premix cardio only, 36 minutes, 169 calories, heart rate 124/157, 3,096 steps followed by Ana Pilates Physical Therapist Flourish Day 10 heart opening yoga for tight chest, 16 minutes, 21 calories. I also did the back pod. I am sore today from the costochondritis workouts I did yesterday. I probably did a bit too much doing so many of them. I got up and used the heating pad this morning and some light stretching before I started my day.

Hi, ladies - I hope everyone had a very nice Thanksgiving. We had about 10 people over at my parents' house, a much smaller gathering than we used to when Granny was alive and Mom hosted the entire nearby family (from three states) of like oh, 35 people. That wore her out. We had a very quiet, nice dinner with some board and card games after.

Oh, that Cathe HIIT workout I did the other day is from the Shock Cardio series, which I believe was made to go along with the original STS. It has three short HIIT workouts, ummm, 40/20, 30/30 and Double Wave Pyramid, I think. Cedie and Lorraine were in it. I miss them. So glad Brenda has hung around for so long, and it will be good to see Jai in the new series. Speaking of which, I got an email saying that mine should arrive on Monday.

Let's see. I finally finished the rock hauling project. Another great functional total body workout this afternoon. :) Yesterday I took a walk. I was going to do a cardio DVD but decided that if I walked, I wouldn't have to shower and clean up before Thanksgiving dinner, LOL. Tomorrow I am going on that hike I've been planning, one way or the other!

Diane - I'm so sorry your costochondritis is still bothering you. Are you giving yourself any rest days?

Carolyn - good job with KCM's Cardio Fit and the yoga.

Valerie - Your poor husband. It really does sound like he needs some meds to help him settle down for a bit. Cathy is probably right about docs making the worst patients! I hope he finds a solution soon. And I hope you get the computer issues straightened out too.

Cathy - I'm glad you don't have to drive anywhere in the bad weather, and I'm glad Derek made it safely to work. We had our first hard frost, which burned off when the sun rose.

Oops. I hit post before I went back to read Judy's post. Sorry!

Judy - I hope all your auto issues are worked out now. And I hope your knee continues to improve with or without another PT appointment. Hang in there!

Today I did JS 15 Minute Calorie Burst. That was 110 calories burned, average heart rate 134 and maximum heart rate 157. Then I did STS 2.0 Standing Core Metabolic Warmup and Step Boss Extended Stretch. My family left early this morning and I’m working on the laundry and straightening up to pull the house back together. My Cathe dvds arrived today. Of course, I haven’t had a chance to open them yet.

Diane Sue, nice job with Annie Pilates and Cardio and Well cardio only.

Shannon, it sounds like you had a nice sized group for Thanksgiving.

Hello to Valerie, Cathy, and Judy.

Things are settling down somewhat. he has appointments and got antianxiety meds. also got another migraine. it was so calm for the last year or so and all of a sudden its become an issue. I need to schedule a procedure to replace the batteries in my pacemaker. its not as big a deal as it sounds (Im told) because the unit is right under my skin on my upper chest. competely invisible. I am still on the original battery from 2009 which is some sort of record. they explained even an unused battery pack sitting on a shelf runs down. this is not a rush but I should do it this winter. I really didnt need another procedure.

My computer meanwhile sometimes works fine and other times not at all. Dell told him it is not a fixable problem so supposedly they are sending us a replacement unit . I expect I will need to return this one but that wasnt clear. DH spent an hour or so on the phone with CS trying to get it ironed out. people in India. I guess the language issues were not a problem but something about proving that we actually have the unit that isnt working? I only heard part of it. took pictures of the bottom of the unit along with samples of DH's hand writing and emailed them. since it was bought online I have no clue why handwriting was needed.

we are lucky we had scaled back our holiday plans better here than while traveling. I started doing Perfect Pump yesterday and was half way thru when the computer thing came up.

Today I did Walk Strong 3 Strength Lower Body, 32 minutes, 114 calories, heart rate 110/145. I finished with Ana Pilates PT Flourish Day 19 yoga flow release for tight thoracic Spine, 17 minutes, 32 calories. I must be really tight because some of this was tough, and Flourish is supposed to be a beginner 30 day yoga series. It was good, but holding some of those positions was hard. I ended with the back pod. I used 12# dumbbells and the high step with two risers for the lower body today. Generally, I use 15# for that workout.

Shannon, I used to do those Hiit workouts a lot. I am afraid I would have a hard time with those now. That sounds like a nice thanksgiving gathering. I had most of my children and grandchildren here and that was 17. It is a lot of work. We played games too. My youngest granddaughter bought her boyfriend too. She is just 16. My older granddaughters are all married. I got an email for mine too and it said Monday. The post office said Monday as well. I bet you are glad that you are done with the rock hauling. Glad you got a walk in before Thanksgiving dinner. I have taken a couple of days off from the back pod as they suggest if you get sore lighten up or take a rest day. Also, some days I have just done some movement to warm up and then mobility stuff. I am feeling better each day.

Carolyn, nice work on JS 15 minute Calorie boost, STS standing metabolic core warm up and Step Boss extended Stretch. My new dvds should be in the mailbox Monday morning.

Valerie, I never knew pacemakers needed removed to change the battery out before. That seems awfully strange that they would want a sample of your husband's handwriting. I think I would question that myself. I get so tired of having to deal with people over the phone. I hope you get that all worked out with the computer.
