Pentagenarians & Beyond 1/23

Today I did KCM Power Splits, starting with the lower body workout and finisher, then I did the upper body, strength only, no finisher. I added on a 10 minute Peloton barre workout that I have been meaning to do.

Carolyn-Great job with Cardio Party and the Extended Stretch. I don't care for Supermans either, but I try to do them most of the time. Like Cathy, if my low back is bothering me, I will skip them or sub another move.

Cathy-50's would be a heat wave! It's amazing to me how warm 30-40 degrees feels after a couple of weeks of single digit temps and below zero wind chills.

Valerie-That's great that you were able to ride! Good that your camper was ok too.

Hi to Diane Sue,

Judy it was such a relief! DH gets all fatalistic when there is something wrong... things break, wear out, need fixing.
we froze our butts off yesterday at the beginning of the ride. this particular park starts with a big downhill, fog bank was heavy. cold and damp. we put on heavy gloves, helmet covers, windblock pants, hoodies and were still cold. after some uphill we felt better. the first half hour it was debatable if we would continue or go back to the truck. party of it is psychological . no sun, gray and dismal. as we rode it was clear ...riding in the desert at the same temp was totally different. it was frosty several mornings in AZ but we were never this cold, and we didnt have on anywhere near as much clothing. helmet covers are a huge benefit. they are like a shower cap, keep wind from blowing thru helmet vents. they weigh nothing, fit in a corner, help so much to stay warm. we still don't understand why it's so much easier to ride on the ground conditions in AZ versus here. I hope you and chris get to go to AZ or the southwest and mountain bike. I want to go back already!.

Thank you Valerie, I think Chris and I would love mountain biking in AZ! I am already thinking of planning a winter trip for next year.
He's really going nuts in this weather, even more than I am. He's been working from home since March 2020, so when he's stuck at home every night and weekend due the weather it really gets to him. At least I have Home Depot to go to several days a week.

Judy... renting accomodations when you have an area... do it early. snowbird people go every year and re-rent the same house or condo. we haven't decided yet for next year. being retired we are more flexible than working people. I hate doing anything that far ahead, but we could have stayed in a nicer place for similar $$ if we'd moved on it sooner. we needed to stay close cousin's condo in scottsdale. we won't need to again. we planned to rent a Residence Inn with a kitchen/kitchenette but did not find that kind of place around PHX. I did not want to be stuck with restaurant food only. seems VRBO or AirB&B have the market there.
there are plenty of other desert locations in AZ, NM, CA, etc.

cathy ..let me guess how your legs feel today!
I did an hour on the elliptical yesterday. DH had a minor skin surgery yesterday so he is being a drama queen about it. it limits our activity for a while.

I’m taking a rest day today. I had planned to do Burn Sets Bis and tris but I just felt tired this morning. It’s so cold that all I want to do is bundle up and read.

Have a nice day everyone.

This morning I did Boxing Hiit Express and Med Ball Abs.

Valerie my legs don't feel bad at all which is so weird because yesterday afternoon I was feeling them. So weird. Glad you were able to get a good ride in even if you froze! Drama queens are such fun! I tend to ignore mine or he gets worse.

Judy my husband has been working at home since March 2020, too, and rarely gets out. Plus they are super swamped at work, and he's been there the longest and has the most and hardest projects. Lots of stress and no real outlet. At least he can go walk in the yard, though as cold as it's been that's been limited. We are getting crazy numbers of birds in our feeding area. Five main feeding spots and they went through 40 lbs of black oil sunflower seed last week!

Derek did his application for an internship at the zoo this summer. He's got all the qualifications they want and because he's worked there the last two summers, his top reference is his boss at the zoo. She already told him if he does an internship she will give him hours in the gift shop around it so that he can make at least a bit of money.
