Pentagenarians & Beyond: 01/26/2025

We did a park walk this morning. sunny except foggy by the water, our usual 1 hr 15 minutes.

that is scary about the fire for someone who cant walk well and is prone to falling. people always want to stay in their homes long past the time its advisable. Ill probably be the same! we have neighbors who burn things illegally its dangerous too. doesnt have to be california-dry to be a problem. plus the stink of plastic being burned..... our nrxt door neighbors burn their trash which is illegal as hell. we have a decent recycle program here with curbside pick up that they dont use either. I dont want to dispute how much stuff REALLY gets recycled but its simple and some of it does for sure. these people burn everything. I dont want to be the one to report them because we live next door and I doubt who reports it stays secret. they are otherwise nice and good neighbors.

I was amazed I could get this battery done so quickly. maybe he'd had a cancellation so there was an opening. its 1 in the afternoon which is not what I'd pick. we might get snow here this weekend so it might work out better for driving anyway.

Today I did CDorner Arm Sculpt Biceps, Triceps, & Shoulders, 32 minutes, 145 calories. I then did CDorner Post workout Stretch, 33 minutes, 60 calories. I also did LMR Pilates foam roll timesaver and forgot to start my Garmin. That foam rolling segment is a favorite of mine. Workout time minus the foam roller is 65 minutes, 205 calories. It has been raining off and on and foggy tonight. Warmer though.

Carolyn, nice work on Cardio Quick Fix today.

Cathy, good job on the Lower/Upper Balance discs and SB stretch today. I still have not done the upper balance bonus yet. Maybe soon I will try though. The ribs are feeling a lot better. I am moving through stuff carefully. The stuff on the foam roller mini workout made my wrists hurt.

Shannon, I am glad you got there and helped get the fire out. Getting out for a walk sounds nice. Interesting on the mouse shoulder.

Valerie, I am glad your doctor appointment went well. I am tired of those medical appointment days. I need to remake the arthritis appointment but would like to have some time off from appointments.

Judy, nice that you got in a walk with your husband and peloton ride.

This morning I did Killer Legs. My time was 44 minutes with 160 calories burned, average heart rate 109, and maximum heart rate 132.

Valerie, nice job with the park walk.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Arm Sculpt Biceps, Triceps, and Shoulders, CDorner post workout stretch, and LMR Pilates Foam Roller timesaver.

Hello to Cathy, Judy, and Shannon.

Hi, everyone. Yesterday I did LMR Functional Mobility Fusion. Apparently this week is turning into an active recovery week. You know the move in Functional Mobility, where Cathe sticks one leg out to the side, rocks back and does thread the needle? My finicky shoulder does not like it at all. Pain woke me up last night, and it’s been sore all day. I remember it hurt the last time too, but I wasn’t sure why. It felt fine during the workout, and it doesn’t bother my other shoulder. I got to thinking about the moves and got it down to that one or the scorpion sequence. I tried both during a computer break, and it’s definitely the needle. I guess I will be modifying that move from now on.

Yahoo! It’s been pouring rain all day. No more worries about my dad’s fire. He burned more stuff yesterday and had quite a blaze going. It’s bound to be a soggy mess by now, thank goodness.

Judy – You got in some good cardio yesterday!

Cathy – Congrats on your improvements with the balance discs. Yes, I don’t know what I’m going to do about my dad. We will probably get in another fight if I try anything. Sigh.

Carolyn – Nice job with Cardio Quick Fix yesterday and Killer Legs today.

Valerie – I’ll bet the fog on the water was beautiful. I love fog (unless I have to drive in it). Dad was in the trackoe, which has hand controls, so he had full control of it, no problem at all. He’s very skilled with that machine. So at least we didn’t have to worry about him falling or losing control of a piece of heavy equipment. On the other hand, being a piece of heavy equipment, it doesn’t move fast, so a fire can spread no matter how skilled the operator is.

Diane – Nice work on the upper body work, stretch, and foam rolling. I do not like foam rolling at all, LOL.

We did another park walk this morning, different park but also along salt water. this is one we haven't done in years. its a longer drive but we were testing out another medicine on the kitty. this one totally failed. trail is asphalt with side trails on dirt but they were pretty muddy so we stayed on the asphalt. its nerar a ferry landing and with salt water all around but for some reason never has much bird life to look at. hilly. not a flat walk at all. it ended up being a generous 2 hours of driving, an hour each way with him waiting quietly in the carrier in the car while we were walking. he meowed constantly without a breath every single second. . when we got home it was like he was on speed or something. WAY jazzed up and crazy. this was xanax. its a pill and went down fine in a little pill pocket. those work great! the drug did not help and actually made it worse. so will call the vet back tomorrow and see what is next to try.
I got in 1 hr 20 min of fast walking. doing stretches and getting an echo later today.

Yesterday I did a 30-minute Peloton walk, 10 minutes of Peloton Arms & Shoulders and 45 minutes of Yin Yoga. Today I went for a 45-minute walk with my husband.

Cathy-Great job with Lower/Upper Balance Discs with SB Extended Stretch. You’ve motivated me to do the balance disc workouts too.

Carolyn-Great job with Cardio Quick Fix, workout one and Killer Legs.

Shannon- Great job with LMR Functional Mobility Fusion. I’m sorry about your shoulder. I hope it feels better today.

Valerie-Great job with your park walk and stretches. I hope your echo goes well.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Arm Sculpt Biceps, Triceps, and Shoulders, CDorner post workout stretch, and LMR Pilates Foam Roller timesaver.

Good morning, ladies. Yesterday I did a total body workout on my own. It felt really good. No shoulder issues, thank goodness. Today will be some sort of cardio, but I'm not sure what. I'm sort of winging it this week. :) I have a lot of work to do today, so I won't be able to check back in, and I'm going to have a tech-free weekend. So I'll see you Monday. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Yesterday I did Gloved Up and Sweaty and then shopped. This morning I did Live Total Body Bands and Glide. On my travel list. Had originally thought I'd go to my parents today, but it's going to be a rainy, maybe snowy mess here later.

Valerie hopefully you'll find something that works for kitty. Sounds like me trying sleep aids. They either don't work at all, or keep me awake.

Diane Sue, watch the upper body balance discs first. There is a lot of wrist use in that one, as you are either hands on the disc or floor for basically everything except the final boat pose move.

Today I did LMR Functional Upper Body, 52 minutes, 139 calories burned, average heart rate 103 and maximum heart rate 135.

Shannon, great job with LMR Functional Mobility Fusion and your own total body workout. I know what you mean about that thread the needle move with rocking. I didn’t move back and forth when I did it.

Valerie, nice job with the park walk. You really are trying everything with the kitten. I hope that you find something that works.

Judy, great job with the 30 minute Peloton walk, 10 minutes of Peloton Arms and Shoulders, and 45 minutes of Yin Yoga.

Cathy, great job with Gloved Up and Sweaty and Live Total Body Bands and Glide.

Waving hello to Diane Sue.

Gloved Up is so fun! I did that one this past Monday.

I had that late day appt yesterday so haven't called the vet back yet. this may not work out, all cats don't take to driving. I never had one who was happy about it. I will try to take him regularly on short drives where he doesn't end up at the vet and hopefully get him used to this. the Xanax yesterday was terrible!, like having a 'meth head' in the car and also after we got home. flying around the room like a maniac.

the echo was very interesting from what you can see from the side. even saw the pacer wires. the next crisis is DH is getting a URI. a sore throat yesterday. so hopefully I can dodge this, ive done it before. we sleep in separate rooms that helps a lot . I dont need a URI right at the same time as a procedure. timing is perfect for that to happen. i will do upper body things for a couple days since I wont be able to after this procedure. dont want to pop any stitches,

I did therapy work and the 95% of new upper body workout. didnt do the last 2 exercises because of several phone calls I had to take. I for some reason can never remember the name of that workout. Dh is feeling pretty bad. so far I am ok. for sure I will get cancelled if I get this they will cancel me. and then it is likely to snow this weekend and early next week. people go crazy here when it snows. so its good my appt is later in the day.

talked to the vet and its back to gabapentine( also known as Neurontin) but starting the evening before. not giving up.

I forgot to check in yesterday. I did CDorner Step Class #298 Basic Intermediate, 42 minutes, 262 calories followed by LMR Anytime mobility plus a bit of some other stretches, 31 minutes, 85 calories.
Today I did CDorner Cardio Mash Up (kickbox, hi/lo, stretch each 15 minutes), 45 minutes 248 calories, heartrate 126/163, 3,353 steps. I also did LMR timesaver second half Core, 23 minutes, 81 calories. Total time 68 minutes, 329 calories.

Carolyn, good job on Killer legs yesterday and today's LMR functional Upper Body.

Shannon, I found it to be uncomfortable on my shoulder doing the thread the needle at that angle with the leg out to the side. The front of my shoulders has been terribly sore the last two days. I wanted to do a full body workout, but a bit afraid till they quit hurting. The first night I put some gel stuff for pain with frankincense and DMSO on both shoulders and they felt better the next morning. Still sore though. I think my problem was two upper workouts this week. Maybe I should just do a lower body workout. I am glad you got in a total body workout today without it bothering your shoulder. I work around things like that a lot.

Cathy, good job on Gloved Up and Sweaty yesterday and Live Total Body Bands and Glide. I looked at the Upper Bonus balance list of moves and figured it would pretty much all be on my hands.

Valerie, nice job on the walk yesterday. Sorry the cat did not handle the medicine well when you tested it out. Hopefully the new medicine will work. Nice work getting in therapy work and I am guessing you mean Lift Move & Restore total body workout. Hopefully you can avoid getting sick and your husband will get better soon.

Today I did Lower/Upper Body Balance Discs plus SB Extended Stretch. This time I positioned myself so that I can't see them. That way their wobbling can't influence my brain and it did help some. I've always done some lower body balance work, but it never occurred to me to do upper also.

Diane Sue there are a few upper body exercises that don't have the hands down, but I think only 4.

Valerie I hope that something works for kitty. Fingers crossed you don't catch what your DH has.

Did the last few exercises on Functional upper body after doing a bunch of therapy work. then did half of stacked upper body. that seemed like enough. thought I was getting a headcold started last night but I took an antihistamine and it faded away so ok so far. DH is sounding a lot better already so its not a real intense headcold but the timing would be bad for me. snowed some today and freezing tonight so roads will be messy in the morning.

Today I did LMR Functional Lower Body+lower balance disc bonus, 75 minutes, 228 calories, heart rate 97/122. I raised the weights some more on this and used a 20 for the sumo squats and 15's instead of 12's.
The weather was nice today. It looks like a few days of weather in the 60's this week.

Cathy, nice work on the upper and lower balance bonuses and SB stretch. My balance was not as good today on the lower balance. I think part of it was one of my discs seemed to have lost a lot of air. One was well rounded and the other sunk in the middle. I did not want to waste time getting out the pump. I was glad when Cathe got to the single one moves.

Carolyn, I hope you had a nice rest day.

Valerie, good job getting in your therapy work then the rest of Functional Upper Body along with half of stacked sets. I am glad the antihistamine helped.
