Hi again

Workout done:D

Manmakers 2X and rope tabata. The ropes were hard and 20 seconds can be a long time!!! There were a few exercises with the rope I couldn't do!:( I did finish out the manmakers with my 20#dumbbells and swings with my 30# kettlebell, so I am happy with that!

Becky~ sorry about your lack of sleep, maybe you can get a nap in today? Hows the grandbaby?:)

Vilma~ Step blast- fun!! good luck on your swings!

later gators!

GOOD MORNING TO EVERYBODY!

What kind of weather did YOU guys get last night? We got ice, and more ice. Temps are JUST above freezing at 33 right now, and we're on a 2 hour delay for schools. I'm patiently waiting to see if they close it altogether (keeping my fingers crossed that they DO....i'm as bad as the kids).

I just finished my workout: iCycle and Core #35 (love this workout) and a few 1RM tests. (the only 1RM tests I have left are some leg ones...WOO HOO)

Deanie-I read your workout in your post, and it's not in English. lol Manmakers? Ropes? Tabata? HUGH? :)

Sorry to post and run. I want to get my shower and keep our normal morning schedule!!! BBL

Gayle

Guten Morgen, All!

Well, it is 5:43AM here in Dallas. Got up, got dressed, ready to do HSC! Whoo! So I pause by Houdini's room on my way to workout and she's not there. I do a quick check through the house...no Houdini. Panic rising. Make another sweep through living room and find her face down, asleep, underneath the Christmas tree. (Yes, it's still up.) Whew! However, the living room is where I workout so no workout for me this morning!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I would do one tonight but it's TOP CHEF WEDNESDAY so that's kind of not going to happen.

OK, I'm going back to bed for another 40 minutes. BBL when I get to the office.

:) Wendy

PS--The Nanny Jo theory did work at bedtime, however. 4 escapes and she gave up and didn't even cry. But how do I make her stay in bed when I'm asleep? HMMMMMMMMMMMM

Deanie, grandbaby is WONDERFUL !!!!! I can't get enough of him !:D (we need a smiley with hearts all around it to use at times like this ;))

Gayle, We had that weather yesterday. School was delayed 2 hours due to ice . Today we are expecting SNOW in a couple of hours ! Too much winter for me!!:(
I haven't even STARTED doing the 1RM tests. In fact I haven't even looked at HOW to do them !!! Talk about a procrastinator !!!! I am very intimidated by the whole idea and keep wondering if I even WILL do them.

I've decided on CC#2 and AmyBentos #2 abs. Will get started as soon as DD leaves for school.

Have a good one !

Becky

Good Morning All Peeps!!!

I, like Gayle need a little English training on the workouts!!!!
Thank goodness we ended up getting mostly rain here and NO ice. I never got out of the eye doctors until 5:30 pm. So it was dark and rainy and the boys were tired. That made my night much easier. We did dance around the family room and eat some junk food. And right on cue DS threw up at 7pm!!!

They are able to go to school today because it's raining and grey outside. They can wear their sunglasses if the light in the classroom is too bright but usually they are fine. Fingers crossed!!!

Today is a rest day for me. Did RS yesterday and I am feeling it. I think I let a little too much time pass btwn cardio over the holidays. But I'm back on track with everything else, so I feel pretty good.

I have to get the DS on the bus but will BBL for funny story from the eye doctor's trip and more personals.
And I am not telling DH about any ropes- God knows what he'll think of to do with them!!!!!

Hi all peeps!

Today was LL on the rotation, and I added Stretchmax 2 for a change of pace. It felt soooo good!

Icy weather last night, but it is warming up here now, should see some snow this afternoon, I think.

Have a good day,

WOO HOO! Schools have been closed! CHEERS to a day of lounging in PJs with the kids, playing Wii Fit (which I LOVE, btw) and enjoying a good book!

Gayle

I accomplished my workout last night (45 minute spin) and I think that tonight I am going to do a segment of Core Max and call it good. I went to bed way to late last night and am so tired right now.

Also, I hope that you guys don't mind but posting my menu here really seems to help me keep on track, so here it goes.

coffee with creamer
2 organic Van's waffles
1 clementine

Egg salad made with greek yogurt, green onions, and red peppers
2 pieces whole wheat bread
greek yogurt with raspberries and some agave nectar

Veggie soup
whole wheat roll

Snacks, if needed

string cheese
lara bar
almonds

Gayle - I really enjoy the icycle workout that you did this morning. Heck, I like most of the icycle and iclimb workouts. I hope that you enjoy your day off.

Wendy - OMG, I was totally panicking when I read your Houdini story from this morning. I am glad that she is safe. You must have been freaking out. I watched The Bachelor last night and will be PMing you about it :D

Ellie - glad the kiddos did ok at the eye doctor appt! Can't wait for your story!

Happy Hump Day Peeps:

WOW...you guys are up early:eek: Today will be more 1 rep max tests then probably shovelMax as we are getting more snow.

Phyllis~ BM2 has some great premixes. Cardio blast & scrambled eggs are my favorites.

Deanie~ I just got KBWay ES but haven't attemped the manmaker yet. Did you like it?

Vilma~ Do you do your swings in sets? I am working up to 100 and am now doing 2 sets of 50 with a short break.

Gayle~ Enjoy your "ice" day off with the boys. What are you reading? I just started A tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Becky~ Have fun with CC. I "heart' Sean;)

Wendy~ Awww....Houdini is living up to her nickname;) Is she old enough to understand rewards and consequences? Maybe you could get a chart with stickers and explain to her that she will get to place a sticker on the chart every morning that she stayed in bed. After so many stickers, she can pick a reward out of a group of appropriate choices you create but know she would love. I used this with my kids at various times and it worked well.

Ellie~ LOL on the rope thing and DH;)

Conni~ LL as in Leaner Legs? Ouch.

HI Karin!

Have a great day!

JJ

JJ-that is an AWESOME book, and it took me only 4 days to read it all. I just couldn't put it down! ENJOY! Right now, I'm just over halfway done with Mary, a story about Mary Todd Lincoln (Abe's wife). About a year ago I was on an Abe Lincoln kick, so I read Love is Eternal, which is super old (at least, the copy at the library was super old, lol) and it's pretty much exactly the same book as Mary.

I LOVE BOOKS, have I said that once before? :)

Gayle

I have a wee little confession.....

After I dropped DS off at preschool, I WENT BACK TO BED!!!!
Oh my, it felt wonderful.

Yesterday at the eye doctor, DS 7 in sitting in the chair trying to read all the charts that she is flashing on the screen. Well, as we are getting to the 20/100 range he is having trouble. So he says L-B-E-V and my younger son says. No Kev, there's no L but think of a letter like a T. Well we all start roaring. He then proceeds to read the next line (because it's magnified for us not sitting in the chair) and says, now remember them because she's gonna aske you what they say next!!!! Talk about the blind leading the blind!!!

Then yougest DS is in the chair and she is moving down to the 20/100 range and the doctor says. "You can't read that"? And dear son says well I could if you made the letters BIGGER!!!! Why can't you give me the same letters you gave my brother, I know THEM!! (They were the same letters). I look over and older son is mouthing the letters to him. My children are cheating on an eye exam!!! But at least they've got each other's backs!!!!! :D:D:D

Deanie and JJ- Manmaker??? You can make your own??? I'll take a tall dark handsome one with six pack abs who likes to clean and organize!!!!

Wendy- have you tried the door alarms??? They go off whenever the child opens the door. Not to deter her, but to make sure you hear her. I have had a few nights of Panic like that.

Karin- Snacks if needed??? Oh I would definitely need snacks!!! What is agave nectar??? I coud use some veggie soup today, it's a cold rainy day here.

Conni- I need to get Stretchmax. I am not very limber and i tend to tighten up easily after a workout. Is it good???

Gayle- my DH is an Abe Lincoln freak!!!! Enjoy your day off. I am being a lazy one today.. feels soooo good though.

Peep Daddy- how are your jello legs???

Dani- where art thou dani????

Becky- Grandbaby- what grandbaby??? Do tell. Did anyone mention that I am the nosey one around here??? Yep, I need to know!!!

Have a great day Peeps
ellie

Ellie - your DS eye doctor story is so cute. Agave nectar is a sweetener that is less viscous than honey and is mostly fructose so it has a lower glycemic index.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......agave nectar! YUMMO! I tried this for the first time last month and LOVE IT!!!

Gayle

Peeps Check-in

Peeps:

Happy Wednesday! The 4-star and 5-star chest and back one-rep max tests Sunday night + Leaner Legs Monday night + Pyramid Upper Body Tuesday night = one sore Peep! Cathe is making me cry this week! I am so thankful for my morning cardio workouts. I had fun with Rhythmic Step Sunday morning and Cardio Kicks this morning. Cardio Kicks was my first Cathe workout, and it still makes me smile. It dawned on me last night that starting my one-rep max tests Sunday night was my first weight workout since Thanksgiving! No wonder I am so sore!

The Biggest Loser is off to a great start this season. This cast has the potential to be a very inspiring bunch! I hope the producers edit the show to focus on amazing life transformations instead of game play and conflict. Everyone on the show appears to be in it for the right reasons this time. Several of the girls are close to my weight and size, and I can relate to their battle. It is inspiring to see people succeed at home without the benefit of a personal trainer and 24-hour supervision, so I like the twist. I am amazed that Daniel lost 30 pounds the first week! Wow! One of the men is still huge after gastric bypass surgery, which is sad but not surprising to me.

Phyllis, I love the Body Max 2 cardio! Enjoy!

Deanie, welcome to Peepville!

Becky, it is good to see you again! Where is Jane? I miss her too! Volume 3 is my favorite Cardio Coach. It is my only Cardio Coach so far, but I love it! LOL!

Vilma, have a blast with Step Blast!

Gayle, enjoy your day at home! Does agave nectar taste like honey?

Wendy, you need a bell to sound when she escapes from her room!

Ellie, why does the eye exam make your son sick? It sounds like you had fun dancing around the room! Stretch Max is one of my favorite Cathe workouts! The stability ball segment is fun, and the music is so soothing.

Conni, I love Stretch Max and hope that is what felt good. I revisited Leaner Legs Monday night, and "feel good" is not a phrase I would use to describe that workout!

Karin, I love clementines. Please keep sharing your menus. I may discover something good to taste!

JJ, which one-rep max tests have you completed so far?

Blessings,
Heather B.

OK, Karin, AWESOME idea about the Greek yogurt for Egg Salad! I'm totally doing that tomorrow. (I loooooooooooooove Egg Salad.) Also--I always wondered what agave nectar tasted like and if it was a good substitute for honey. I'm getting some this weekend! Any particular brand I should look for? Does it come in "flavors" like honey sometimes does?

I also ate a Lara bar today. :)

Also--as I was at Target getting doorknob covers for Houdini (yes, that's where I think this is headed), I found Kashi TLC Fruit and Grain Bars in Pumpkin Pie flavor!!! they have 7 whole grains, nothing articifical, 4 grams of fiber and only 8 grams of sugar! Can't wait to try these...

Ellie--Your boys are so sweet! I love that story. :)

Heather--I just read on the yahoo home page that one of the oldest contestants on the Biggest Loser collapased during a workout. I always worry that show is pushing people too hard, too fast, just too much. (Although if it's on during a marathon, I'll watch it!)

:) Wendy

Heather - I think that BL is going to be really good this season. I like the little twist that they added last night. I love clementines too. I am a pretty picky eater when it comes to fruit. I just don't really like that many fruits. I tried clementines on a whim and loved them. I can't eat oranges because all the rind makes me gag, but clemetines peels so well. I love them.

Wendy - the egg salad with greek yogurt is really good. I love egg salad too but didn't want to use mayo to make it. I tried this and it actually tasted good. Those Kashi bars sound yummy. I'll have to be on the look out for them. What flavor Lara bars do you like? About Agave nectar, here's some info I found from wikipedia

Agave nectars are sold in light, amber, dark, and raw varieties. Light agave nectar has a mild, almost neutral flavor, and is therefore sometimes used in delicate tasting foods and drinks. Amber agave nectar has a medium-intensity caramel flavor, and is therefore used in foods and drinks with stronger flavors. Dark agave nectar has stronger caramel notes, and imparts a distinct flavor to dishes, such as some desserts, poultry, meat, and seafood dishes. Both amber and dark agave nectar are sometimes used "straight out of the bottle" as a topping for pancakes and waffles.

I bought the light one because it seemed the most versatile and I like it a lot. I don't remember what brand it was but I bought it at Whole Foods and it has a cactus on the front of it.
