PB and ________...

Oh My! I just love PB and thanx to this thread I'm on my way to the kitchen to eat it "Shelley style"....right out of the jar!

NY25- I also "invented" that a while ago (when I started having wheat germ in the house)

My absolute favorite?

Number 1- Super crunchy PB on WW toast with sliced banana, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with honey. (Dad's a beekeeper, so there was honey abound in the house growing up)

Number 2- Kashi granola bars (honey almond flax or pumpkin spice- the crunchy ones) dipped in PB

I have a stupid ? about PB? What is natural PB, is there a difference between, let's say Jiff, or any of the other brands, and natural. I have seen some of you ladies mention natural PB.

Thanks,
Ann Marie

Oh, how could I forget PB waffles & pancakes??? I hate syrup (yuck!) so I've always eaten PB on them. (but I make them w/ whole wheat & oatmeal so they're healthy!)

Regular PB has a small amount of trans fats (partially hydrogenated oils) & sometimes added sugars. Natural peanut butter is just ground peanuts. Even Smuckers & some other brands make a natural kind. Usually you have to stir it (the oil will separate & float to the top) & refrigerate it also. It's really yummy but is a little different from the regular PB (although my dh & family will eat Jif only!).

True confession time.

I have to admit that PB is one of the few foods that I deny myself most of the time. I know it's good for me, but the fat content and calorie count scare me silly. I don't believe in denying myself anything I really love, and my list is very short. It pretty much just consists of PB and guacamole. When I do have it, I measure out precisely one tablespoon and make it cover the whole darn bagel no matter what.

As if you couldn't tell, I just adore PB, and peanuts, and anything with peanuts in it, and anything that tastes like peanuts.....

> Natural peanut
>butter is just ground peanuts.

Usually salt as well.

Watch out though: Jif(I think) is labeling a PB that contains added fat and sugar as 'natural,' which it isn't in my book.

Always read labels, and go by the ingredients (peanuts and, optionally, salt), and not by what misleading labels are claiming.

Natural PB with lowfat cinnamon graham crackers AND nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread) AND fat free coolwhip - Now freeze it for an hour and it's better than any ice cream sandwich you've ever had!

Of course just PB and nutella on a spoon or knife or any utensil will do.

Carrie - wehn you went cold turkey, did you have to remove it from the house - is anyone else in your family a PB lover? I have to remove it and DH is addicted to it too, so he has to put it under lock and key.
