P90X weights

Yep, another flippin' P90X question x(
I'd like to know what range of weights others used since I just received the series. The women look like they stick with rather light weight and I know some of you were lifting heavier. I'd just like an idea on whether or not it will be in my interest to pick up some heavier dumbells from Dick's this afternoon. After all, once I finish P90X I will be able to toss Volkswagen (with people in them) and crush beer cans in my hand. :7

I used anywhere from 8 # dumbbells up to 20. Just an fyi, I gained more strength in my upper body with these workouts than any other that I had used previously. I believe that the way it is structured, (eg you can use lighter weights and do more reps, or heavy weights with less reps) and the way Tony has of pushing you to go to the max of your ability, was what did this. When I went back to a Cathe weight workout afterwards, I used heavier weights than previously.

That said, you will need to buy more weights!;-)

Another one here... 8-12's in phase 1 up to 20 in third and final... Wish I had had something between 15 & 20 because 16/17 would have been a perfect fit in my final phase.

I have three pounders all the way up to 25 but wondering if I need to invest in some 30 and 35 pounders.

You may want to pick them up as you go through the rotation.
During my P90X rotation, I started with weights up to 25#, plus 1, 30# weight (for lat rows), then ended up adding a second 30# weight and a single 35# weight.

Hi Beavs.

I am not strong so I won't bother telling you what weights I am using but I DO tote the heaviest that I can for the X upper body! I am not lifting what the gals in the program are most likely lifting. Atleast I hope I am going heavier then that!

All I know for sure is that I definately had to get a set of heavier weights for this program!!!

Thank you all Ladies! Kathryn made a good point...I was so focused on buying matching dumbells when I could easily get by with one at time for a while. But then of course....I have chicken arms :D
