p90x - should I substitute cardio?

AusMish

To any of you experienced P90x people - I am craving cardio..should I substitute some cardio for Yoga X? I am on my first week of the classic rotation.

Thanks in advance...

IMO Yoga X serves a wonderful purpose in rotation... I am in final phase now... Instead of "swapping" can you do "in addition to"?

Even just the first 45 minutes of YogaX + a cardio would be better than no YogaX. Just my thoughts.

AusMish!

I agree with adding cardio but yoga is very important, hope you keep that in.

I'm so glad to get a hold of you. I've been trying for the last couple of weeks. I know, Christmas and New Year was on top of everyone's list.

Now that I have you on this forum, I was wondering if you are going to update "Ultimate Guide To Cathe's Workouts"? I would love to help you in anyway I can. For me that is the Ultimate tool I could have ever asked for. Brilliant idea!:7

I always add extra cardio when doing P90x classic. I wouldn't advise cutting the yoga though, it's fabulous. I usually just add an extra 1/2 hour on the treadmill a couple of times a week.

You could substitute an IMax for Plyo X, and a kickboxing workout for Kenpo X, but I agree that Yoga X is there for a reason (I'd substitute another yoga workout for it, but not a cardio).

Thanks everyone - I'll give it a go based on your advice!

Janie, yes I will be updating the guide. I didn't want to do it around Christmas because I thought people might be too busy with other things. Now I am wondering whether people might be away. I am in Australia and over here, most people go away on holiday in January becuase it is our summer. Do you have a view on whether this would be a good time for the update - is this a peak holiday time in the US?

Michelle,

January and on would be a really good time over here. Nothing is really happening for months. If it would be more convenient for you to set it up next month, that would be great.

I'm so glad I got a hold of you, now I can relax for I know it will be worked on. If you need any help at all on this, please let me know.

Will be looking forward to your updates.:7

I agree with what everyone says about YogaX. It is EXTREMELY tough and long but it is so worth it. I've gotten amazing results from X and yoga is a central part of it.

Sorry don't know about pilates. My recommendation is still with the program at least for a few months. It really is a work of genius.

Re extra cardio - you could do doubles. I was too tired during phase I (I followed the diet) - did doubles in phase II. In the 2nd round - I'm doing TJ doubles.

Not sure why but somehow doing X improved my running. I was always a 3 mile girl and after a few years away from running - I was able to do 4 miles non stop!
