P90X Rut Busters - check in here!

I did Gauntlet, abs from PUB and ran on the treadmill. Hoping the arrival of P90X will be sooner than later. I need something different!

I ordered P90x last Wednesday (almost a week ago). Am I setting myself up for disappointment by hoping I receive it today? I know I am but I can't help it!

hey, girls i did the terminator (extreme) i feel great. but i am going to order it tonight at work. no matter if we started already but i could continued when i get it. i am so excited to get this video.

What are you wonderful ladies using for the pull ups? Bands? Which ones? Do they come with door attachments? Are you using the Door Gym? Will it work for all doors? Sorry to just jump in...I just P90X and want to have what I need ready. I'm hitting the weight assisted pull up and dip machine at the gym now!

OK, so I just ate an entire bag of those soy crispy wisps. Are those bad?? It says it has a lot of soy protein, but they taste so much to me like chips I think it must not be the best for you!?! Anyone else like these things? The soy crisps? They look like mini rice cakes.

I guess we never noted who was trying to follow the nutrition part of this - although I think I did say I wasn't! Anyone doing anything in particular? Low fat? Low carb? Following the actual nutrition plan from P90X?

O, woe is you, Ruppie. An entire bag of soy crispy wisps can NOT be easy on the digestive tract. You might experience some... after affects... later. ;)

I'm doing my low carb thing: no sugar, no white flour, lots of good fats and good quality produce and meats/poultry/fish. :9

I feel for you gals living in the blizzard-ic regions. I HATE snow--I'm glad I live where I can go outside in the mornings without wearing more than sweatpants and sweatshirt.

RACH, I'd like to get one of those pull-up towers, but for now I'm just working my way up to heavy pull downs on our workout machine. The movement is a lot like the guy who uses the bands in Chest & Back

Imafitnessfreak, did the delivery guy come through?

I am so sore right now. That Ab Ripper got me in the belly and back, but not so much the hip flexors. My chest muscles are barking big time, too. Tomorrow I think I'll be doing Leaner Legs or Pyramid Lower Body.. I haven't decided yet.

Oh Ruppie!

I don't know what soy crispy wisps are, but they have to be better than the 2 glasses of red wine and the Godiva dark chocolate candy bar I consumed this afternoon.

Back on track for me tomorrow! It's Shoulders and Arms and Abs for me tomorrow. **sigh** I'll pay for this.

Margaret

Hi everybody,

I'm a little late for my check in today. Was super busy.

Ruppie- I found plyo x pretty strenuous. Definitely something I have to work on. Along with everything else it seems. Another reason to be motivated.

RACH- I'm using bands on a door gym and a pull up bar. I was doing half and half on each last time.

I can feel my arms today. Especially my forearms. Not too sore in the abs though- I think that was probably due to my bad form.

I hope everybody had a great workout and day,

Sabine

WEll, i didn't get to check in yesterday, was at work till after 6pm, then home, dinner, and workout. DD was on the computer all evening. I did my Cathe interval workout yesterday. I mix up all my favorite intervals from the two imaxes. Great workout.
I was so pleasantly sore in my back muscles yesterday from the pull ups. I hate them, hate them, hate them, but forgot how effective they can be. I'm using a homemade bar my DH made me that slings over a beam on our ceiling in our bedroom ( the ceilings are beamed).

Funny thing, i never quite got my chin over the bar, but just the pulling effort really worked my back!

What's next today??? Shoulders and arms i think???

Oh yea, forgot to add to my previous post, i could sure use some nutritional advice too. I tried low carb, but i'm too miserable.
I thought about trying the bodyrx plan.

YEAH DAY #3!!!
How's everyone holding up!!!
I did Shoulders & Arms, gosh I LOVE that work out. It's really one of my favorites. It seems to go so quickly for me.
I'm trying to do the heavy/less rep option for it. Man it's tough. But I SURE LOVE the ballistic stretching breaks!!

What did you guys think of it!?!? OR what sub did you do?

Amazon, you're right about feeling the soy chips - and I know this while I'm eating them all too, but they are just too addictive to me! Give me anything with salt and I'm in the no stop zone.

Margaret - red wine!! I don't even count that as bad in my made up diet! Good antioxidents! hahaha. I really just enjoy it too much. It's the italian in me, I can't fight my heritage!

Sabine, don't worry! Plyo will get easier - I have to say one thing about this program, it's built to grow with you. I don't think anyone should expect to do it all on the first try. I mean look at ab ribber X too - you can start with lower reps of all the excercises, and work your way up to 25 each, if you need to!

Wendy, I'm probably not the one to give nutritional advice (see red wine comment above) (and bag of soy chips!) hahaha but I also can't handle a low carb diet. I just get TOO TIRED.
One thing I noticed, even with the P90X - if you do Cardio X, which is used as a second workout on strength days if you're doing the lean program, he says make sure you EAT EAT EAT. I find I really need to eat when I'm on a rigorous work out program, or I get very tired and can't put a lot of energy into my workouts. So, my plan is to not keep the calorie count too low, but try to eat very clean and with only whole wheat or oatmeal or veggie carbs. My fruit intake will be grapes. Red grapes to be exact. Crushed and fermented.
HAHAHAA

Good Morning Ladies! I did the Shoulders and Arms this morning and Apb Ripper. I *almost* skipped the Ab Ripper, with plans to fill it in on Sunday, b/c of how sore my hip flexors are, but then I toughed it out. At times, they were really hurting. I felt better about my performance on Ab Ripper and I LOVED the S&A workout! :)

Here’s my issue...when they are doing the moves in Ab Ripper that require you to lean back on your arms and hold your body in a “V” formation (like maybe bringing in your legs at the same time), I am letting my body fall more backward and not keeping it upright (b/c my hip flexors are hurting). I think that is taking some of the work out of my abs. I was sore after the first workout in the lower abs and hip flexors. So that is what I need to work on. Is anyone having a similar problem?

If nobody minds my giving diet/nutrition advice...I would highly suggest something very simple and reasonable. When I lost weight, I tried to follow a plan that I created and worked for me. I still bring new concepts into it and adapt it when I learn new things about nutrition. If you follow someone else’s plan, that is difficult. If you create your own, you will succeed! And think about it…that makes sense. If the plan has things that you don’t like, or too much/too little cooking, too much exotic food, etc. you are not going to stick with it. Here’s what I did…in no certain order…and not all at once. Try to incorporate a few things a week and you will get there in time.
First, I lowered the fat intake.
Second, I lowered my portions.
Third, I cut out junk or find alternatives. You know what is junk and what isn’t. You also know how to make healthier choices.
Fourth, I switched to meals every three hours. (I eat at 9,12,3,6, and a snack at night).
Fifth, UP that water intake.
Sixth, if you eat a carb-full meal at one meal, try to balance it out on the next (ie don’t have rice at 12, potatoes at 3 and pasta at 6. Instead have rice at 12, higher protein at 3 and then maybe carbs again at dinner).
Seventh, try to add fiber. (don’t go crazy but add beans to chili, etc.).
Eighth, when you eat carbs, eat “brown carbs” (whole wheat pasta, breads, rice, etc.)
Ninth, walk into work every morning w/a bag of your food ready to go. You will be so much less tempted to go out, order out or stray if you have everything there. Plus, it eliminates your not being able to find healthy choices if you go out or to the cafeteria.
Tenth, if you are about to eat something “bad,” (or you’ve eaten several of something “bad” and are about to do it again – hershey’s kisses!) try to put it down, just for a few minutes. GO make a copy, drink some water, do something and think about if you “really” want it. If you do, eat it! If not, don’t. You will find that at least 50% of the time, you won’t eat it. I don’t do this every tie but I find when I get on a kick of kisses or something that this will break me from continuing.

I don’t believe in low-carb, high-protein, etc. I believe in eating a little everything and making good choices within the food categories. That way, you never feel deprived. I also believe in treating myself to desert, wine, etc. and have found that if I do that, I avoid binges later on. I tend to make a lot of what I call “batch meals” too that you can use many times afterwards. Turkey chili, jumbalaya, fajitas, pasta, etc. You can make them once but eat them several times. I also like to use Tupperware Freezer products and freeze one or two portions of every batch meal that I make to use later. That way, after a few weeks, you have several choices for lunches, etc.

OK, hopefully someone benefits from all of this information! I've helped several other people lose wiht these methods and I know that they work. If anyone needs help or wants more suggestions or a sample meal plan for a day or two, I’d be glad to help.

Have a good day!
Christine

Hey, Ruppie, I'm with you on the "red wine as fruit" religion. I get one wine glass full every night.

Christine, I agree... keep it simple. But remember: simple goes very well with red wine. :7

Today I woke up with major shin splints. Another reason why I hate running. And really, if anybody were to watch me "run" they probably would call it "stumble"... as in... "She went out for a stumble today." I'm not a runner. My guts bounce around and I get shin splints. x(

Today I did "Leaner Legs." I haven't done it in perhaps 11 months. I used a 40 lb barbell for all the exercises, even the calf raises, but by the time we reached one-legged squats I couldn't do all the reps, except for the plie squats (I love those). I could tell I wasn't going as low in the squats and lunges as I used to.

Oh, and for the step-ups I use a tall step and go a lot slower than Cathe does, so I don't didn't as many reps as she does. But I was soaked when I was through. I like that feeling.

I can barely walk right now--so tomorrow is going to be painful.

Day#3 i am feeling great this morning i did Tamilee Video for half an our that include abs. " i want that body"
i did tamilee "i want that body". and tonight depending how i feel i will be doing upper body workout.

Hi Everybody,

There was a posting on another threat about the current special issue of Oxygen magazine. It's all about abs. They have a 7 day "clean eating" diet listed. It looks pretty good to me. I started with Day 1 today.
I have to do my workout later on today. I've noticed though that my arms are more sore today than yesterday from the chest and back workout.

Have a great day,
Sabine

I just "officially" started the P90X today. Don't get me wrong, I worked out yesterday and Monday but since P90x had yet to arrive...

I think I am going to try the Lean Program first. Today I did Core Synergistics then ran on the treadmill for a while. I really liked the Core Synergistics, it was a lot of fun. I think I will get more out of it once I get use to the "new style". Haven't done anything other than Cathe in years! I hope I am a little sore tomorrow!

I think I am going to try to follow the P90x eating plan. It is not so far off how I usually eat. I just need to cut out all the fruit...getting too much. How can you resist an eating plan called "Fat Shredder":7 :7 :7

Alright fitness freak!! (is that OK to call you for short? Don't want to make it much shorter - hahaha)
WELCOME (again!) Don't worry- your past two days still count!
I'm so excited you got your DVDs so fast!

What did you think of Core? I can't do those Dreya rolls for anything. Can you do it? I guess I just need to practice. They make it look easy.

It's been mentioned before on a different thread a while ago but I have to agree with whoever said it - I think Tony has a crush on Dreya. ;)

Let me know how the nutritional plan goes!! I am ashamed to admit I didn't even look at it enough to REALIZE it was called the Fat Shredder!!!

I agree, after doing shoulders and arms today, it is so evident.
He gushes over her constantly (as she lifts her 3?? lb dumbells???)

Anyway, feeling great, i'm so glad we started this rotation again!
I forgot how sore it makes me!! Did the abs from Power hour today too.

I'll be missing tomorrow, due to work, and then a work-related dinner directly after. Won't be home to late, then by the time i spend time with the kids etc...

We are taking the kids snow tubing saturday, so i might just call that a "cardio" day LOL.

Hi all -

I did shoulders and arms and ab ripper this morning, and just now I'm starting to feel sore. I'm really enjoying the P90X series for a change of pace.

And yes, wine should be a part of any healthy diet! Christine, your hand crafted diet looks great.

Yoga X tomorrow.

Margaret

Guys, After only one day, I think I am going to "dump" the lean program and hop over to the classic rotation. It will take some fenagling, but I hope to be right on course with you guys in a few days. Lean program has too much cardio and I ALREADY do too much cardio since I do a tape and then run on the treadmill (everyday).

RUPPIE, I really loved Core but since I am hopping to classic, I may not see it in a while.

Today was my VERY FIRST P90x workout and my first thoughts were "he is so hot for Dreya, this is funny". Second thought "can you blame him? She is quite pretty but he doesn't stand a chance with those cheek bones of his". There's a plastic surgeon that should have been sued!

I did do the Dreya rolls, got stuck only a few times. The kids thought I was nuts! Fun but hard! Hopefully by the end I will do them with Dreyas grace!

Hi All,

Finished my workout for today. I really liked it. Ab Ripper went a little bit better today.

I'm a little worried about being able to get up on time to do yoga tomorrow. I mean really early.

Is anybody else doing the Doubles rotation?

Have a good evening,
Sabine
