Classic/Phase 3/Week 11/Day 2

Good Morning Xers and post Xers!;)

My plan for today is a run and the B&G Leg Blast Premix. I am very tired though so I'm not sure both will get done. I will be happy with one though so I'll see what happens...

Angie: Our anniversary was ACTUALLY last wednesday so we didn't actually go to the gym together on *THE* day...just the day we were celebrating it! LOL :p Going to the gym is pretty much our saturday morning ritual since DH joined and I certainly was not going to give up the work out which in turn motivated him to go.}( If not for me, he would not be going to a gym AT ALL! I am the wind beneath his biceps!:7 :7 :7 :7 ;)

Okay...I am in desperate need of more java....I'll be back later chickadees!

OHHHHHH and I MUST tell you! When we were at the gym on saturday and I was doing the assisted chin up machine, DH commented that he could see my biceps working and then last night he complimented me on the good definition in them. He said he was impressed with what he saw on saturday!

*pulls out a pin and asks one you gals to please pop her inflated head now* :+ :7 :+ :7 :+ :7 :+ :7

GREAT JOB WENDY!! Great to hear those compliments, isn't it?? :) I'm sorry that you were up so early, it's going to make for a very long day. Keep the java handy and go for a walk at lunch or something to rejuvinate yourself. :)

Today I have a run on tap for after work and hopefully time for B&G X, too. That's a toughy for me, all those pushups and I'm not a big push up lover at all!! ;-)

Take care all, I'm hoping to get back here later.
Marcia.

Oh my, aren't you girls early birds.

I was hoping DH would put the kids on the bus this morning but no such luck. So, I'm up and I have the day off - finally! I was beginning to wonder what a day off was like.:7 Although my day off consists of a lot of laundry, vacuuming, and de-cluttering. It's been a while since I've been able to get to the housework.

My pulled muscle has extended up my neck to the back of my head overnight. I hate not being able to have full ROM of the neck. Hopefully this will be gone in a few days. I'm not sure what workout I have on tap for today - maybe Step Blast, Rhythmic Step, or IMAX??? I'll see what I feel like after lunch. At present, I'm just sitting on my duff, drinking java, and watching the squirrels eat all the birdfood.:D

Hey Marcia - good to see ya. I hear ya about the push ups. Not my favorite either! It urks me how men can just pump them out almost effortlessly and women (or should I say - this woman) struggle pumping out even a few. I know it's a body composition thing, but I wish they were a little easier to do.

Wendy - the little guy wake you up early? You'll have to make sure you get your nap in today. It's so nice to hear those comments from family members isn't it? My parents have been in Florida for 2 months and I can't wait to see what they have to say when they get back. I think my body has changed considerably in 2 months - I'm just hoping they will notice. DH and I went out to dinner with friends this weekend and they commented that there was a lot less of me there.:) Hearing those little comments never gets old and sure motivate more than anything else!!!

Wow....everyone here has been getting nice compliments. And, funny, a teacher at the school where I work said this morning (as she was walking behind me) "you know, you have the body of a teenager". It felt good. They say working out doesn't make you skinny - it's more what you put in your mouth. HOWEVER, it shapes the body and although I weigh more now than I did a few years ago, I believe I "look" better.

Okay definitely feeling Butts and Guts from last night. I love it:7 .

Angie, what a mental picture you gave me with "watching the squirrels eat all the birdfood". I do that all the time too while trying to figure out how to make them stop. We've hung the birdfeeder out on a limb and you should see those squirrels hanging on by a thread. It's hilarious. I guess they're hungry too.

I'll be back.....;)

Nancy

OH YEAH, Nancy, that is an AWESOME compliment for you!!!! You should be on cloud nine for a long time with that one. ;-) WTG!!!

Marcia.

You're right Marcia!! That compliment should hold me for a while, lol;-) .

I have a question maybe someone could help me with. My DD and I were talking today about needing an upper body workout. You know, one like Leaner Legs or something, but strictly upper body. We have PUB and the Gym Styles, but I guess we're thinking more like quick, hard, wham bam thank you.....(I'm dating myself, I have to be careful!!) Something like a half hour (or more) of torture for all of upper body.x( Are we right in thinking that Cathe comes in a little short for upper body workouts? Are we missing something that would work?

Okay, thanks in advance.

Nancy:) :)

Morning Ladies ..
{Phase 3 - week 12 - day 2 - my version classic}

Congrats on all the compliments ladies .. I would not dare pop those big heads ... they are well deserved!!! LOL:7

I too had a compliment from SIL .. she says I amaze her at my strength gains and how my upper body has major improvement going on! Said she was jealous .. she struggles on the weight work .. but man for such a tiny woman she is STRONG .. she played softball in college and was the pitcher and awesome at it .. also could hit it out of the ball park .. so she is no whimp!!!

So today is a run at lunch it is gorgeous ... sunny and the high today is supposed to be around 77 .. gorgeous! Tonight is kickboxing and core ..

Getting the hair done today by a new stylist .. YIKES .. hoping for a good turn out .. think I am going to get low lites and high lites .. .. hope all goes well ..

Did ya'll watch Dancing w/the Stars last night? OMG .. it was soo good .. I laughed at Billy Ray Cyrus .. man is he bad!! It was a good show .. and it is going to be a good season!!

ok .. I am working the counter today .. so gotta run ..

hope you ladies have a great day .. and lots of fun sweaty workouts!!:7

Nancy - how about CTX Upper Body DVD. I don't have it, but I'm sure it's chaptered off so you could pick and use which upper body parts you wanted to do or all of it.

Marcia.

Hi Ladies,

I did plyo x this morning. For some reason, I like this workout. It's great for those days when you don't feel like messing with the step. I didn't sleep very well and would've probably twisted an ankle this morning.

Wendy-Have a great time with B&G, it's a goodie! It sure is nice getting complimented on the results of your efforts.

Marcia-sounds like you and Wendy are doing the same thing. Burn baby burn:)

Angie-I hope your neck feels better soon. I hate when I have to use my day off to clean the house:( You'll feel so much better when it is done. I pick step blast for you to do later. That's a fun one for me-then again so is RS. Do Imax at your own risk}(

Nancy-You Rock! "the body of a teenager":p As far as short upper body, have you taken a look at the Super Sets DVD. I used to use the SS lower body blast and it was about 30 minutes. I'm guessing there is also an upper body premix that might work for you and your daughter. Let me know what you decide to do.

Poochy-you're running too!!! Good Job. I should run also since the weather is so nice. We are supposed to have rain and snow starting on Thursday.

Wonderful workouts to all!

Diana

Hey gals...I blew off my run today. I was having stomach issues at the end of my shift at work so I figured a run was out of the question. As it turns out, it went away quick but how was I to know! LOL

I ended up doing the warm up and blast segment of kickmax and then I put on that EVIL Leg Blast Premix but I shortened it. I did each exercise only ONCE instead of the 2, 3 or 4 times Cathe has ya doin' them! LOL It was still tough though as my legs were pre-exhausted from the blasts!}(

Considering that I'm feeling rather icky today I think I did a pretty nice lil' work out there!;) :p :7

BBL!:)

Hi girls!

Well, I decided on IMAX. I have a question for you all. I thought that I was losing my cardio stamina while doing the X because my HR really got up there - like 180-190 range and I thought OK - this is not good because Tony says he's in the 150's range. My HR was closer to his when I first started the X and then started going up toward the end. So, when I did IMAX today I thought - OK - this is going to be really tough. But, it really wasn't - it actually seemed easier than before. I recovered much quicker than I did before and didn't seem to be gasping for air after each interval. I'm sure it has a little something to do with the fact that I'm not draggin around that extra weight, but what about the HR? Is getting the HR higher when maxing out a good thing?

Nancy - For upper body Cathe workouts, Cathe almost has me in tears with Muslce Endurance but it's not entirely upper body. CTX upper body and Power hour also are good upper body workouts, but again Power Hour is not completely an upper body workout. I have the tapes and not the DVD's so I'm not sure what kind of options are available on them for maybe just an upper body workout.

Laura - Sounds like you are having beautiful weather. We're not there yet, but at least it's sunny. You are getting low lights? I've never heard of that. But, then again, I've never had anything done with my hair besides a cut or a perm. I know, I live a sheltered life. LOL

Diana - I did IMAX at my own risk. LOL I like Step Blast a bunch and thought I'd better leave that for the end of the week so it will give me something to look forward to. I knew I would not be looking forward to IMAX!

Wendy - Stomach bug?:-( Hopefully you are pretty much over it. Sometimes I still work out when I have a headache and it's usually gone when I'm done. I think it's the stress relief for me. Plus, I feel good about the fact that feeling icky can't keep me from exercising - well.....usually.

Later all

Angie

Just finished PUB. I know it's a good workout...it just bores me to tears.

Good suggestions everybody, thank you!!! I have Power Hour and Supersets BUT I have both on VHS. Actually, I have done PH upper only. I forgot about that one. It's just a pain fast forwarding but it's a good suggestion. What is CTX upperbody?

Laura, I hope your hair turns out nice. My hair is dark to putting any lights in it doesn't quite have the same effect. In my next life maybe.....

Hope you're feeling better, Wendy. This cold of mine is kicking my butt more than B&G. The end of my nose is on fire as I'm walking around now with a box of tissues. x( I hate being sick. This is the third winter in a row that I've caught something. Before this, I hadn't had a cold in many, many years. It's really ever since I quit smoking. My brother teases that not even germs wanted to live in that smoke-infested body. Sad to say, he's probably right. Giving up smoking was the hardest (I MEAN HARDEST) thing I've ever done. I'm so glad that's over. Now even the thought of picking up a cigarette reminds me of how hard it was to quit and that's all the deterrent I need.

Your weather sounds so nice, Laura. We're not there yet...but getting closer. All of the snow is melting nicely and is practically gone. Today was a beautiful sunny day but a little windy for my liking. I think it topped off at 55.

Angie, I wish I could help you figure out your heart rate question but since I never rarely get my heart rate up too high (lol), and don't own a HRM, I have no clue. I wish I could run. I could barely speed walk, I'm afraid to say. No stamina, none, nada, zippo.

Okay, I'll be around reading the posts from today. Have a great night everybody!!!

:) :) Nancy

>>> but what about the HR? Is getting the HR higher when maxing out a good thing?<<<

Angie, If I am not mistaken (and I'd better learn this since I want to be PT! LOL), the better shape you are in, the higher your max hr will be. This doesn't mean that you will automatically reach it. It just means that your heart is in good enough shape to max out at a higher rate then someone is not in as good of shape as you. I don't know if this helped you at all but I tried! ;)

I used to use an HR monitor. Now I just go by how I feel. That's really one of the best ways to go according to my manual!:) So if it felt good...go with it! }(

Thanks for the info Wendy. So, raising my HR higher in the intense sections of workouts is a good thing then right? I really don't pay too much attention to my HRM when I am exercising but I look at it when I'm done to see what my max HR was. I mainly just use the HRM to calculate my calorie burn. So, how's the studying going?

Nancy - I thought CTX upper body was on Cathes video library but it's not there. I must have bought it off ebay. It's a compilation of the Cross Train Express series which works back(12min.), chest(10min.), shoulders(10min), biceps(10min), and triceps(15min). The warm up is from Allstep and the stretch is from 10-10-10. Maybe contact customer service to see if you can order it individually. I haven't done this one in quite a while (since before doing the X) but if I remember correctly this is quite a challenging workout.:D

Good night all

Angie

So long as you feel good doing it then yes, it's a good thing. :)

My studying is on again off again! Right now I'm in OFF mode! LOL I have to "turn it on" again soon though! I have to get it done!!!!
