Hey Xers. I'm back. I will re-start the X today!!!!

Classic/Phase 3/Week 11/Day 3

It's Shoulders and Arms and ARX for me today. I hope I can get through it! YIKES! LOL

I don't even remember if I checked in at all y'day. Y'day is like a dream to me. I got only 3 hours of sleep the night before I kind of floated through the day on only fumes! LOL I only managed to sneak in a 30 min nap in the afternoon which didn't help much so I simply didn't STOP until I knew I could crash. I just kept moving. It worked pretty well.

So I did Butt and Legs (weights only) of BBC last night. The burn on that one is KILLER!}( No doms (YET) though. The first time I did it I was a mess the next day! LOL

Okay, time to get moving...BBL!:)

I hope you had better sleep last night!!! I can't move much unless I get a good amount of sleep.

Are you still doing the X? I know you had postponed it a bit while you were sick.

I think I read that you're getting a hotel room for the roadtrip anyway. Am I remembering right? That should be loads of fun but I don't know if I could bring myself to do it. I would feel too "left out":-(

I don't know what workout I'm doing today as I'm a little messed up myself due to being so sick last week. I'm back at work - thank goodness. It will probably be lower body I just haven't decided yet.

Hope you don't have too much trouble deciding what work out to do. Take it from me, that can be sheer torture! LOL

Hi ladies,

Gosh, I did not sleep very well last night and feel wiped out. I didn't think about taking a sleeping pill until 3:30am and decided not to. I have a few days off this week for Spring Break and should be doing things with my son, not sleeping the day away. If I feel up to it later, I will do a Cathe cardio. Oh, I took my measurements and will post my results later today.

Wendy-glad you're feeling well enough to get back to the X. I have Barry's Bootcamp bookmarked and may order it soon. Have you tried all of the workouts? What do you think? Is the weight work all 30 minutes?

Nancy-glad you're feeling better too. Enjoy your lower body workout today and let us know which one you did.

(Phase 3 - week 13 - day one LAST WEEK OF THE X - recovery week)

I can't believe I am in the last week of the X ...

We had a great weekend .. spent 2 days in a bikini ..:eek: ... OMG :eek: .. disgusting .. why is it such a shocker when you do your first outing in the bikini??? I mean I know what I look like naked .. why is the bikini so darned intimidating!!

My SIL came over yesterday and had the same reaction to herself in a bikini and she is so TINY .. aahhhh ... we are our worst critics though huh?

DH had a great birthday .. we did stay at home (no beach) ... but had a very active long weekend .. working around the house and fishing the creeks .. the weather was awesome .. sunshine and 89 degrees!!

Diana .. I took something to sleep last night .. and now I cant hardly hold my eyes open. JEEZE .. I hate this feeling.

Wendy and Nancy I am glad you two feel better!! :D

Laura's circuit class ...

warm up
basic step (r)walk/leap/run - approx 1.5 minutes

Staggered push ups (left hand on step right hand on floor) 12 reps

Basic step (l)walk/leap/run - 1.5 min

Staggered push ups - opp. side - 12 reps

Step 5 -8 min (dancy)

Standing plia's - heavier weights (I use two 10# weights) weights on upper thigh - 8 reps hold bottom 8 pulses - then raise right heal up 8 reps - center feet flat 8 reps - lift left heal 8 reps - center 4 reps - raise right heal 4 reps - center 4 - left heel up 4 reps - center 2 - (r) heal up 2 reps - (l) heal up 2 - then alternate center - right - center l - etc for 8 more times around

Step - 5 - 8 minutes (power/interval level..think Cathe's blasts)

Lunges - weight by side (I use two 10# weights) - lunging onto the step - (r)8 times hold bottom pulse 8 times - then repeat again ..then repeat on (l) side (sometimes I add opp arm bicep curls on this - curl in front of and across the body)

Step 5 - 8 minutes (dancy)

Squats across the step - lighter weights (I use two 5#) held at chest height - start at the end of the step 16 counts - then put one foot on top of step 12 counts - both feet on top of step at end (narrow shallow squats) 8 counts - step wide on top of step 16 counts - then bring opp. leg together at the end of the other side on top 8 counts (narrow - shallow) - then one foot down on floor 12 counts - then both feet on floor at the opp. end of the step 16 counts

Step - 5 - 8 min. (power/interval)

Reverse lunges - starting on top of step - (I use 8# weights)weights on shoulders or by the side - start w/(R) leg lunging back 8 counts making sure to keep standing leg knee soft and tap the working leg on the up beat - then instead of the tap bring the knee up at the top of the movement - 4 times // then back to the tap up 4 times // then add a small control leg extension at the top 4 counts // then back to the tap 4 times .. repeat sequence on opp. side

Step - 5 - 8 min (dancy)

bicep curls (can make them basic or mix them up) heavy weight 20 reps (I use two 10 # or 12#)

Step - 5 - 8 min (power/interval)

Tricep extension/row combo - lat rows heavy weight 12 reps then hold top and do tricep extension 20 reps .. repeat opp arms (I use two 10# on the lat row .. drop to 1 10# on the extensions)

Step -5 - 8 min (power/interval)

Side lateral/delt combo - lighter weight (5# - 8#) - side lateral out and up to shoulder height - 8 reps - delt lift 8 reps - side lateral 4 reps - delts 4 reps - side later 3 reps - delts 2 .. then alternate for 8 more reps

Calve raises - (heavy two 10#)one foot on step ... other on floor - heavy weights on shoulders - 12 reps w/pulse at end .. then turn foot out to the side slightly for 12 reps then pulse .. then turn foot inward w/exaggerated bent knee for 10 - 12 reps w/pulse

light cool down and short stretch

Abs for 10 minutes

Extended stretch at end.


Sometimes routines do not translate well .. so if you have any questions let me know!

This routine usually will run 65 minutes ..and you work every muscle on your body .. my class loves it ..

I'm back-I ended up doing the 90 min SB/SJP cardio combo. I love doing long cardio workouts when I don't have to go to work.:)


Poochy-Wow, you're circuit class sounds like a lot of fun and hard work! I haven't taken a class at the rec ctr in quite awhile. They do offer a bootcamp class at lunch that sounds pretty interesting to me. After all the classes you teach I can't believe you think you need more cardio. You know, I've never worn a bikini in my life. You are so fortunate and work hard for your results, so wear your bikini with confidence! By the way, this should be week 13 for me too, but I'm movin' on to Cathe.

Hi ladies. I just ordered P90X today, so I'm hoping with the free upgraded shipping I'll get it in time to start Monday. I hope I'll be able to join in on a check in to keep my motivation going once I get started. I'm hoping for some great results. How many of you ladies did their eating plan as well?

I teach circuit - cardio kickboxing - cardio/interval step - bootcamp - body sculpting - and yoga .... anytime you need some ideas I will be more than glad to throw out some of my torture ideas to ya!! LOL }(

Diana - great results .. not sticking to the last week .. shame on you!! LOL .. I am just kidding .. I don't blame you .. I am ready for some Cathe torture myself!!

My measure week is next week .. and that is the dreaded PMS week .. so I am not measuring until AFTER that is done .. LOL!!

Ok .. I am finally out of my sleepiness/sleep medicine hangover .. LOL .. so maybe I will have a GREAT class tonight!!

congrats on joining our torture group!!

Wendy is the pro at eating clean and motivating .. I think overall everyone here (except me) tries to eat clean ... not sure who is following the X eating plan to the letter though .. it was too restrictive on the carbs for me .. and my sugar levels bottom out .. so it was a no go for me!!

I think I would win the award for BLOWING the diet the most out of our little group! I can tell you what to eat .. but just don't follow my own advice!! LOL

Welcome to our check in. I just finished week 12 and am starting back with Cathe this week. I ordered my P90X off of ebay and didn't get all the extras, like the eating plan, rotations or worksheets. Fortunately, other cathe members were willing to email what I needed, except for the eating plan. I'm following weight watchers right now.

By the way, you look fit as a fiddle already. You'll have to let us know what you think of the X workouts. I see you've already got your daughter hooked on cathe. The picture of her on the step (in the air) is just adorable.

Hi all

I hate blowing the eats on the weekend! I think the beer drinking led up to the bad eating which led up to me feeling like I had no energy today.:( I've got no-one to blame but myself though. And I did have fun this weekend:) However, doing CST & ARX today was tough!!! I hate pushups - I wish someone would have told Tony that before he developed the X.}(

Wendy - Is BBC mostly kickboxing? It must be killer if it affects you like it does. Hope you get some decent sleep tonight so that you can bring it tomorrow;-)

Laura - I don't think you should be embarrassed to be in a bikini. Heck you work hard for your figure and it shows!;-) Be proud girl!

Katie - welcome! Just a cautionary FYI - beachbody does not excel in their shipping:( You may end up waiting longer than you are supposed to. They did ship mine in time, but I have heard lots and lots of horror stories about their notoriously slow shipping.

Nancy - So you did the Barr method? What's that like? Is it similar to the fluidity bar I have been hearing all the chatter about. I gotta stop reading about that darn thing - one of these days I'm gonna break down and buy it and it is pricy!

Hey ladies and welcome Katie!:)

I kicked out Shoulders and Arms and ARX this afternoon and I am very happy. I really "brought it" and upped my weights on some of the exercises. I felt really strong after taking those few days off from it. I decided to do ARX after the warm up but before the shoulders and arms work out and OMG! Why didn't I try that sooner!?!? ARX was soooo much more doable/tolerable that way and it didn't affect the rest of my work out at all! I really liked doing it that way and think I will do it like that for the remainder.

Tomorrow I am hoping to get in some leg work and a run. I am supposed to do yoga as well but I am going to do it on Thursday like I normally do. It'll be a bit out of order but I'm not worried. What I have on tap for tomorrow already is enough!}(

We were posting at the same time. No, BBC has no kickbox in it that I know of...not unless there are some moves in some of the cardios. BBC is 30 mins of weights and 20 mins of cardio (lots of high-impact) or a treadmill work out. It's endurance weight work and the butt and leg work out is KILLER! Laura, Laura, Laura! You make me sound like a saint! LOL I am no saint, girl! I blow my eating just like the rest of y'all do! In fact, I've been eating waaay too much cr@p as of late especially! ACK!

BBC is 30 mins of endurance weight work. You work 2 body parts (plus abs in a couple of the work outs). There is also one full body work out. You get 5 work outs in total in the set. Each vid also has a 20 min treadmill work out and a 20 min non-treadmill option. It's alot of high impact stuff-no choreography to deal with. Just all kinds of heart pumping moves one after another. The production quality is quite poor when you compare it to Cathe's stuff and the music kinda makes me nuts but there is a no music option if you prefer. I've only done Butt and Legs weight work and one of the cardios so far. From this small sampling I must say that I DO like it. EFFECTIVE STUFF!}(

Oh and btw, the instructor Joey...HE IS HOT HOT HOT!!!!}( }( }( :7
