Hi Laura and all who follow.

Sorry I didn't start us off this morning. I wasn't in a "check in sorta mood" this morning for some odd reason! LOL

I ran for 20 mins at the gym this morning and am planning on doing some sort of lower body circuit work out to get in a bit more cardio and work the legs since today is leg day for me....OMG, no it's not! LOL I'm sooo messed up cause I took a few days off from the X! LOLOL Oh well, I guess it's fine if I work legs anyway...I'll see what I feel like. I want to atleast grab some more cardio though. :) Today is actually YOGA day for me but I'm going to wait until Thursday for that one. I like doing it in the evening after DS goes to sleep and DH is at bowling....

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi Ladies,

This morning I did Power Hour. I can't believe how weak Cathe made me feel doing bicep curls with a 15lb barbell. My legs are still a little sore from MIS and lowmax, but I am loving the squats, lunges and deadlifts.

Poochy Laura-Hope you feel better soon. One of my sons has terrible allergies and feels miserable especially when it is windy and all that cotton and pollen is blowing around. I had a fitness question for you-I am very pear shaped, what kind of exercises would help slim the hips and legs? I thought you might have some suggestions since you're a fitness instructor.

Wendy-Glad are getting back into the X. I can already feel the need to add back in yoga X. My shoulders and legs felt very tight this morning. I also prefer doing the yoga workout at night.

Where is everyone???

BBL.

Sorry - here I am. :+

Circuit class went GREAT!! I was so pleased to look out at everyone afterwards and they were all completely drenched, messed up hair and looked exhausted }( }( (I'm evil, I know). They all enjoyed it and we decided to have two of the three classes a week a circuit because it was such a wonderful workout.

So, now I'm trying to put a few different ones together so they won't get bored with the same one. I LOVE IT!!!

Tonight I hope to go to Weight Watchers and weigh-in   (fingers crossed). Maybe convince DS to go for a walk around the lake aftewards (he'll ride his bike).

Talk to you later. I'm trying to fit in X whenever I can, but with my step/circuit classes taking up three days during the week it's hard to fit everything in.

I've got a 5-miler on Sunday, too, that I am not sure I will be able to do, lately I've only been able to get in 3.5 miles. Whew...

Marcia.

I added BBC's Chest and Abs cardio portion in this afternoon. No leg work. I am up for Back and Legs tmrw anyway!

Have a great evening!:)

Hi all

Got up a bit late today since DH put the kids on the bus this morning.:) I told him I would make it up to him, so I got him some beer (it was on sale) at the store:p I don't think that's what he had in mind, but I had to go to town to get some shopping done. Our walmart and big grocery store is 25 miles away so I don't go very often - maybe once every 2-3 weeks or so. My walmart list was a long as my arm so it was time. Needless to say my car was so full it was squatting.

When I finally got home at 2:00 I was starving! I whipped up a turkey sandwich and some carrots and orange. Now I'm sipping on coffee and wondering when I should attempt Imax3. I think I'd better let lunch settle for an hour or so before I tackle that one.

OK Wendy - where did you buy BBC? Is it a set of workouts? Is there just one you would recommend over any other? I've got the itch to try something new and it souunds like you really like these.

Diana - I think I'm gonna get MIC too. I guess I didn't realize it was such a butt kickin cardio workout. How long is it? Is this the one that doesn't require a step? I don't think Cathe sells this one anymore so I'll have to go to ebay and see what I can find. It's not available in DVD is it?
Power Hour and Muscle endurance are killer aren't they? I haven't tried doing them since I've completed the X. I wonder if they are any easier - somehow I doubt it.;)

Laura - Sounds like you have a fun workout day planned. You probably never get bored with your routine - seems like you are doing something different all the time.

Nancy - Still waiting to hear what info. you can give me about the Bar Method. Have you or anyone else read the thread on the Fluidity bar? It sounds so darn tempting. I'm also looking at the bender ball at benderball.com but I haven't heard of anyone that has tried this. I thought it might be a neat way to change up the ab routine a bit.

Well, I think I'll start some laundry and put away all the stuff I just hauled home before attempting Imax3. Have a great day all.

Angie

<<<I had a fitness question for you-I am very pear shaped, what kind of exercises would help slim the hips and legs? I thought you might have some suggestions since you're a fitness instructor. >>>

Diana .... no such thing as spot reduction (unfortunatly) .. but overall .. diet (which sounds like you have under control - just don't restrict too much .. weight watchers sometimes cuts the calories too low .. imo) ... get some form of cardio each day (have an easy then a hard day) ..

.. and what I would do is take a mix of different styles of exercises:

Yoga - the X yoga is excellent and will set those thighs on fire

Pilates - if you have never tried it .. do .. it takes some getting used to .. remember form .. and keep your toes pointed thru the entire sequence .. that is what really sculpts the legs.. keeping that muscle contracted and focusing on extending and length.

A good varied circuit workout like I posted yesterday works wonders too!!

Large Step ups - aaahhhh .. I know ... but they are one of the best thigh and butt shapers around .. I have a 6 step class I teach (six risers under the platform) .. and I contribute the large step ups to the most of the leg defintion I have (Cathe's bootcamp, high step challenge, The Firm #6) are all good ones .. or you could just add it into your weight work. Stepping on a 12" - 16" platform or bench .. weights on shoulders .. one leg up and step up keeping the knee bent then lunge down .. aim for 3 sets of 20 reps on each leg

I would have to say when I added in cardio kickboxing my hips shrunk a lot .. it is a killer workout for the hips ..

Try to keep your workouts varied as much as possible ...

Everyone has their "spots" they dispise or are not happy with .. I think no matter what it is .. variation is the key ... you will find the right combo that will work for you!!!

HTH ..

LOL ... you EVIL person!!}( }( .. you sound a LOT like me!! LOL .. love it when everyone is moaning and complaining .. }(

I taught a total upper body circuit last night .. and I know when I get there tonight they are going to be moaning when I make them do push ups tonight .. LOL ..gotta love it!!}(

Glad they enjoyed the routine .. anytime you need some help ..

Thanks for the suggestions Laura.
I'm glad you suggested pilates. I use to take a pilates mat class (years ago) and really enjoyed it. It is much harder than it looks. I also had the chance to experience the reformer, if I could afford one of those I would buy one in a heartbeat.
I think the variety you recommend is really what I need. I tend to get stuck in rut and do the same things. I really love heavy weight work for the legs although most don't recommend that for my body type. I figure if my legs and booty have to be big, at least the can be firm and tight! I've printed off your post and will be adding in step ups and the high step workouts. My favorite is HSTA but I have all the workouts.

Thanks again,

Diana

Hey Everybody!!!

How's everybody? Did a bit of running around after work and walked in the door a little while ago. I'm tired and I haven't worked out yet. And....no clue what's for dinner...

It sounds like everyone is keeping up with their workouts. I did Slow and Heavy Legs yesterday. I think I may throw in Arms & Shoulders if I can get my act together.

Angie, I only did the Bar Method once so far. I was mixed on it. I think I had a hard time with tucking in my hips. I'm not sure I got it right yet. It wasn't strenuous, it was more like isometric holds with small pulses. Different. I like to feel more worked out when I give up an hour or so though. If you do a search on videofitness.com you'll hear people raving about the results. I also ordered Bar Method - Fat Burner from the library so I'm going to try that one when I get it. I believe it's supposed to be harder. I'll let you know what I think.

Okay.....hate to run but I'm starving and my daughter said her stomach is rumbling. Time to move.

Have a great evening!!!!! It is gorgeous out today. I think it hit 80 degrees. Tomorrow back to the 60's.

Nancy
