RunninTeach

Cathlete
Hey girls~ :D :D :D

Slow day up in here yesterday. I ran 3 miles but wound up *not* doing the PUB premix. I’ve been moving stuff around on the rotation for this week and will be sure to hit it before the week ends on Sunday. Today is Leaner Les + abs.

Wendy :: the movie was kind of obscure: Mr. Wonderful. Ever heard of it?…Good job listening to the body and not giving in to the workout obsession. We do need to do that at times. Enjoy spin & yoga today.

Laura :: you survive the audit? Sounds like you needed a rest day, too.

Angie :: I do have an iPod Nano and love it…But you’re wise to research for the best deal…so much of this tech stuff become outdated so quickly…I think you asked me about my rotation recently and I can’t remember if I answered that it has been a 4-week rotation (a variation of Cathe's Aug. 04).

Hi Diana and Nancy…have a great Thursday, everyone!

Today I am going into Day 3 of the Battle with my Pharmacy...yesterday it got a little ugly...long story...but here's the Cliff's Notes version: *THEY* are WRONG and *I* am RIGHT! Naturally. *lol*

Good Morning Cathy and all who follow.

I think I am putting spin off until Saturday. My legs and butt are still on fire. I *am* however, still going to the gym and will tackle the TM. }( I will be going for a nice flat, easy run today. ;)

Cathy: Nope, never heard of that movie. Is it worth watching? I'll tivo it and check it out!

Angie:

>>>Wendy - yup - a couple more questions. What is the difference between AFPA and ACE certification?...ACE is internationally recognized. It is more widely excepted since you can basically move overseas and still work as a certified fitness prof w/o having to re-certify in that country. It is also more thorough then AFPA. I had 3 months with the option for a 2 month extension in order to study and take my test. Many people who take the ACE exam take a year if not more to study before they take the exam!!!!

>>>Why did you choose one over the other?...I looked into ACE but since I am just starting out, I didn't feel it was neccessary. I also did not want to wait that long to be certified. I can always certify with ACE later on if I feel it will help me down the line.

>>>Did DH videotape your exercise moves for the video?...No, I chose to use a tripod and tape myself.

>>>Do they send you videotapes or send you to a website to learn proper form and technique for exercises or is it covered in the books?...Both. They send you a book w/many exercises in it plus 2 dvds that demonstrate exercises.

>>>I really appreciate your taking the time to answer all my questions. Thank you!...No problem! Happy to help!:)

BBL!

Wendy :: enjoy the TM...sounds like a good plan to get through the DOMS...Uhhh, it's probably not worth watching, but I was sucked in anyway. *lol* :) Lots of well-known faces in it but not a flick most people have heard of, I would say. I'd seen a bit or piece of it somewhere at some point but stuck with it this time. It was cute. Oh, BTW, last night, I caught the tail end of the Thank You for Not Smoking movie you mentioned recently.

Morning Ladies ..

Wendy .. ooooohhhhh .. looooooove the tat!! You did good!!

Cathe .. survived the audit .. think they are coming back todayx( ... ahhhh got stumped a couple of times .. but paperwork so far looks like it passed!:) ... I go brain-dead when they start asking questions .. they try to trick you and I hate that!!

Angie.. it was the VBF just had a b-day not to long ago.. this was another BF that had hers .. seems May thru July is a VERY busy time for b-days for my group of friends .. mine brings up the rear in Sept .. LOL! So we celebrate May - Sept .. SIL's is next .. in August! It was a nice gathering the CABS flowed freely .. and the laughter did as well! the only thing BF just got out of a bad marriage a couple of years ago .. started seeing someone 10 years younger .. and he is MORE possessive than the deadbeat X .. unbelievable ... we went over to her house afterwards and he would not even speak or make eye contact .. I don't trust anyone who will not look you in your eyes!!

the rest day was a success .. I feel 100% better!!! (could have been the CABS... LOL):D

Diana and Nancy .. hope all is well with you two!

OK .. today is BBC either shoulder and back or chest and abs .. and tonight is 1/2 kickboxing 1/2 yoga ... guess I will be complaining tommorrow again about the dreaded DOMS! LOL

it is crazy in here .. better run .. hope everyone has a great day .. will BBL to check on everyone!!:7

Good morning fellow java drinkers;-)

It is a nice, cool, and overcast day here today. Perfect weather for getting motivated to pack for a river trip this weekend.:) We have a couple a minor things that we need to get fixed on the 5th wheel and I can't believe how impossible it is to get an appt. to get it done. The service around here sucks! We didn't buy the trailer from a big RV place that is close to us, but it's warranty work so they are authorized to do it but they won't even give me an appt. until sometime in August. I said - forget it! Makes me mad how places are so willing to sell you stuff but when it comes to fixing it....different story.x( DH said he will not spend a red cent there and we'll find someplace. Of coarse, we'll means me. LOL!:7

I can't remember which w/o I have on tap for today so when I go downstairs it will be a surprise. Since it's raining, I will probably not be going to the track while DS is a football practice. I have been walking a mile or so while waiting for him to finish up. I wanted to start running, but my right heel is really bothering me. I don't know what's up with that, maybe I need better shoes since I have been wearing my old kickers when I go there.

Cathe - So do you think a 4 GB nano is big enough to load CC workouts and put music on too? That's what I'm thinking of buying. After searching the web last night, the cheapest one I can find with tax and shipping is at the circuit city web site for $195. I think I'm gonna take the plunge later today.
PUB premix huh? I have PUB on VHS so I don't have the premixes.:( Speaking of tech getting old.;(
Well, of coarse, re: the pharmacy. LOL! I hope you can persuade them to see things your way.

Wendy - So are your legs on fire b/c of B&G? If so, I can totally relate!
ACE certification up to a year??? Yowza! What an eye opener. The web site you gave looks super cool. It really makes it look so interesting.
So, do you have anything lined up at a gym yet? Or, did you decide to go private? I'm so excited for you! And, thanks again for the info!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the tat!! Looks so cool!;-)

Laura - It sure pays to have a lot of friends!:7
I'm with ya on the people who won't look you in the eye - I always wonder what the heck their hiding. It kinda sucks that she is with Mr. overprotective. It's cute being with someone like that at first, but what a can of worms it can be down the road. Especially if she is a free spirit and likes to do things on her own. I hope it works out for her.
Sounds like you have another awesome w/o on tap.
Good luck dealing with the auditors today. I've never had to deal with that and hopefully never will!! *fingers crossed*

Diana & Nancy - hope to hear from you both today - we miss you!!

BBL

Good Morning again!

I am back from the gym. I ran on the TM w/o the help of Grace for the first time in weeks! I was watching tv. It was a horrifying news report on crimes/murders in this country's colleges and how the colleges try and/or succeed in covering up the crime atleast for some amount of time!

I ran for 30 mins and did 2.83 miles. I kept it flat but varied my speed every 3 minutes until the last 3 minutes where I changed my speed every 3 minute.

I hope to get in some yoga at nap time...:)

Thanks to everyone re: the tat. I like it too!;)

Angie: A post on the O/D has made me wonder if I am incorrect in telling you that ACE is internationally recognized. I *thought* it was but perhaps I wrong on that count. Just wanted you to be aware. I have not done any job searching yet. I don't want to do that until I get that letter back saying I passed the exam! I will, however, be calling in regards to CPR cert'ing soon.

BBL!

Hi ladies,

I didn't have a chance to read through yesterdays' posts to see what everyone was up to. I went to bootcamp monday night and bodystep tuesday, yesterday was a day off.

Bodystep is basically just stepping. The Les Mills website explains it pretty well. I don't plan on taking it again since my Cathe workouts are much harder or advanced is probably a better word. But it's the same routine everytime. My gym is teaching v. 67 and the website says they just released v. 69. Today is Hamstrings, calves, Back and abs at the rec ctr and bootcamp tonight.

DH finally saw the navel piercing this morning. What did he do-he poked it and made it hurt. Then he wanted to take a picture of it with his camera phone. This is 40+ year old man. How juvenile is that:) Then he wanted to know when I was going to be wearing belly shirts...you'd think he was 16 yrs old.

Cathy-great job running! So did you decide to run the half with Wendy? Regarding the Rx, of course you're right, no doubt about it!

Wendy-I love running or doing kickboxing after a hard leg workout. I think it works out some of the soreness. The tattoo looks great. If you don't mind, I do have a suggestion regarding your 1/2 training. You really shouldn't do all your training on a TM, you should also train on the type of ground you will be running on.

Laura-How wonderful to have so many great friends. My friends and I are so busy with kid(s) stuff we hardly ever have a chance to get together.

Angie-No more worming:) I have a Nano, I think it's the 2 gig and I have plenty of room for all my music and will be downloading some CC or itrain soon. I love my nano and cannot imagine not having one. What was your surprise workout today?

Have a great day everyone.

Diana

Hi Diana! LOL about your DH's reaction to the belly ring. :D Apparently he is young at heart and that is great!;) I plan to do my weekly long run outdoors during my HM training. The rest of it will most likely be done on the HM because it fits in my schedule much better then squeezing in the outdoor run after DH gets home from work. I am sure I will also make it outside now and again with my running buddy who is also supposed to be training for this as well. I appreciate the advice!:)

So I ended up nixxing yoga. Figured the warrior poses and all that would be murder on my sore legs so I opted for a regular stretch instead. I did Cool It Off Express-30 mins. PERFECT! Now hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to walk correctly!:p

the asylum is in full swing today .. OMG ... x(

going to kill my boss .. he made HOME MADE STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM this afternoon .. I am not one for sweets .. but home made ice cream .. OMG .. could not pass this time .. (class is gonna pay for my weakness) }(

Diana .. sounds like the DH is loving the new peircing .. yayayayyaya!!! you may get some "fun rewards" for getting something you wanted!}(

BBC shoulders and back completed at lunch .. yes arms were shaking .. and in about an hour I will go and burn off some ice cream .. LOL .. poor students!

ok .. better run .. have a great one Ladies!:D

Wendy :: how’re the legs & glute feelin’ now? Gotta respect what a hurtin’ B&G can put on ya!

Laura :: BF’s new man sounds like quite the charmer…I’m another one who’s big on looking people in the eye.

Angie :: good luck finding a place to do the repairs ~ hope it’s not too much of a headache…I have the 4G Nano, and it can hold up to a 1,000 songs, so I think it should give you plenty of space for workouts *and* songs…However, if you have an interest in downloading Cathe workouts on video, you might want to hold off on making the investment…The pharmacist yesterday *was* in the wrong, so I just dealt with the pharm. manager, who was in today…Everyone was helpful and apologetic – basically, he refused to fill my prescription via fax, so I went to the trouble of getting a hand-written scrip and he then refused saying it had to have a special sticker and number on it, etc. Totally ludicrous. I’ve been getting these meds for 6 months and have never had to do this. Apparently, he was following outdated procedures, but he insisted he was right and kept saying that the other employees had not been filling the scrips properly. Anyway, I have the meds, so I guess all’s well that ends well. It was just a big hassle…The PUB premixes let you do up or down only. I am just seeing now that there is a bonus w/out combining upper and lower body…Never new that. I really need to explore the DVD options more!

Diana :: I’m also *lol* about DH’s reaction to the piercing…Don’t know about the HM – will make a decision after this next rotation when I’ll be increasing mileage anyway.

Hey girls -

Sorry no checking in for two days. Just too busy with last minute stuff....for myself, and my mom.

Well, we're all packed. Our flight is at 7 am. We're really excited. It's our first time to the West Coast.

I've been keeping up with workouts though. Just finished GS Legs. We are planning NOT to workout this vacation. It's all about the sightseeing. We are planning a hike in Yosemite so I guess that will be a little something.

Okay, I have a 7 pm manicure, gotta eat dinner, and then hit the sack. Have a great week. We'll be back late Friday.

Hello again

The surprise w/o was Push Pull and the cardio & interval sections of CTX step and intervals. It was 90 minutes and I am done!! Tomorrow I'm hoping to get in PLB before heading off to go camping. While camping we'll do some bike riding so I won't have those days completely off either.

Nancy - Geez girl you are on the go! Have fun on your trip. I'm sure you'll burn off all kinds of calories with the walking and maybe other.... Sounds like a wonderful vacation - enjoy!!:)

Diana - Men.....do they ever grow up? I do feel your pain. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING cracks up my DH more than a "good" fart. It just pi$$e$ me off b/c he stinks so bad.}( So, like I said, I feel your pain.
Thanks for your info. on the nano. I gotta get me one!!

Wendy - Are you still walking like a duck? LOL! You might have to avoid Cathe for a while.:7

Laura - How on earth can you work for a boss like that? Sounds like such a PIA.:D LOL! ;-)

Cathy - I called the place today where we actually bought our 5th wheel and they were wonderful. It was so nice to talk to someone with a "no problem" attitude. We'll only be a few miles away from the place when we go camping this weekend so we can take a little detour and get the minor things fixed. He said he can just give us the parts and we don't even need to bring the trailer, which is nice b/c it is 36' long and can be a pain to drag around.
Do we need the video component to the ipod for Cathe's new w/o? Isn't that one a bit big? I'm not sure it would be practical to take running?? I'm not sure I'm thinking of the right one.
Maybe the pharmacist will get an education when he comes back to work.:7
I need to explore the premixes more too. Some of them are pretty darn cool. I just have Cathe's GS and her new ones on DVD. Everything else I have is VHS.:(

Gotta go a pack - haven't done a darned thing today. I'm such a procrastinator.:(
