P.M. workouts -- do they work for you?

I am also a PM work-outer.

I get home from teaching at about 4:30. I get dressed and go to the barn to ride my horse. The whole barn-groom-ride-clean up thing takes about two and a half hours. I get home between 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. I eat and then workout anywhere between 8 or 9 p.m., usually more towards 9 p.m.

I have to say, working out later is OK, but it makes me resent the 70-75 minute workouts Cathe puts together all the more.

Anyway, JMHO.

I'm another after work exerciser. There is just no way I'll ever be able to get up at 4:30 am to get my workout done before work. I try to eat a light snack at work around 4:00-4:30 and then exercise as soon as I get home. I make sure all my equipment is set up so when I get home I can change and get going. I'm usually finished by 6:45 - 7:00. We eat dinner around 8:30 and I go to bed around 10:30-11:00. It works for me. On the weekends I usually work out mid-morning. If I was a homemaker I would probably prefer to work out mid-mornings during the week too.

I try to workout in the am. It helps me kick start my day. However, I do have mornings when getting up at 0 dark thirty is just too painful and I hit the snooze button three times. Working out in the evening is difficult for me. Someone is always wanting my attention, and I am pulled in five different directions. If it works for you, that is all that counts. Good luck with your workouts.:)

I would prefer to work out in the AM (as I do on the weekends usually), but I make late afternoon/early evening workouts work for me because, well, I have to when school is in session.

Even though I am a morning person, I leave for work no later than 6:30 every morning. I'm not all that fond of waking up and working out almost immediately, which is what I'd have to do. I do bust a crack o'dawn workout from time to time, but it's not the norm.

The challenge of PM workouts for me is not that I have a family to take care of as many of you do, but the "on"-all-day mental stimulation of my job sometimes leaves me feeling drained. Sometimes I find when I still need to do some additional work at home, I just crave a piece of quiet and stillness in my day. I sort of rebel against the idea of spending the whole day on the run. So, there are times I really have to kick myself in the tuchus to get going. And admittedly, unplanned rest days do happen. I just try to listen to my body.

But for the most part, it works. :)
