Overtraining?

My lower body is a HUGE trouble zone for me. I started the 6.5 mos rotation of STS this week and was planning on adding in another day of legs during the week. Do you think that would be too much leg work, given the intensity of STS? It's really tough toning my hips/thighs/butt, so I just thought 2 days would do the trick.

TIA!

I have done STS and I overtrained by doing too much cardio (I believe)...however, I do NOT think that adding another day of legs would be overtraining if you are also careful with how much cardio you add. When I did STS...this was something that I thought also....that one day a week of legs was NOT enough for me to get the muscle tone and fitness level I wanted in my legs, butt, and hips.

best wishes

I think it would be fine to add some more leg work also...but I wouldn't re-do the same STS disc or anything that is similar (primarily squats, lunges, deadlifts); not because I think it would be detrimental but I just think there is enough of that (for me, anyways) as is. I'm on week 4 of Meso 2 now (doing the 3.5 month rotation)..I'm seeing lower body improvements (most of what I need is fat loss anyhow), but I was thinking the rotation could probably benefit from some floor (or barre-style work to work the butt directly without the quads taking the brunt of the workload. I haven't done a lot of this type of work..just thinking out loud here of something to consider and that I may experiment with later.

I added a 2nd day of leg work to STS and was fine but it was very endurance based work like Tonique, BBL or the bonus segments of STS M1 legs since I often did not have time to include them in my regular STS leg work outs. Felt a second day of heavier training was not necessary and could possibly be overkill.

Just a thought here but what about adding the leg drills from Kick Max? It isn't as intense as STS leg workouts but will work on shaping and toning. Have you ever considered Billy Blanks' tae bo? I don't even feel like I'm working out. For me, the fun factor is definitely there.

I think a second leg day would be a great addition, actually! I think floor/ankle weight work, barre work and other drills would be great during any of the mesos. Go for it Melissa!!

Basically, what the last poster said, barre work for sure. This should really get into those little muscles and tone all the way around the leg not just the big muscles you hit with STS.
