Our pasture burned!

I put some pics up. Today i was in town touring a gym with my mom and my MIL called. She tells me that our entire back pasture is on fire and is trying to get my dogs out of our house. ( the fire was up to our back yard) I was 30 mins away and felt completely helpless. Luckily, she was home and got them to safety. Three different county fire departments had to come out. I still have news crews in my driveway. 145 acres all black and smoking. Dh rushed home to help. Our shop almost caught on fire (which is where we run our business). It could have been horrible!! Everyone is safe and no structures where damaged. We aren't sure how the fire started, but i am still in shock over what could have happened. It started several acres over behind a neighbor's house.

I'm feeling rather blessed and lucky right about now.

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear your pasture caught on fire! How scary! I'm happy that no one was hurt and no structural damage!

Jes,

Wow! I'm so sorry! How very scary. I was just checking Foxnews.com for an update on the fires and the miners.

I'm so glad everyone is okay and that your dogs are okay. That's one thing I always worry about having dogs and parrots. One time I was at Home Depot and heard there was a tornado heading straight for our development. I was sick. Turns out it was not an accurate report.

How far are you from all the other fires happeneing?

Take care of yourself!!!!!

Goodness Jes! That's your second run-in with fire in the last few weeks. I'm glad to know you're okay and that your possessions are safe.

Seems like the air is so dry today. Someone tossed a cigarette into the bushes at the P.O. today, and the fire department had to be called. Some winter we're having, huh? My car's thermostat registered 81 degrees at around 2:30 p.m.

Love ya,

Jes,

I'm so relieved you and your home and dogs are out of harms way. I don't know what I'd do if my little kitty were trapped in a burning building. You must have been worried sick! Take care and I hope your property will be lush by spring. (Is that possible in Texas? Shows you how much I know--LOL!)

Michele:)

Wow! That's scary and too close for comfort. I'm so glad your family, your home and your business are okay. You must be hugging everyone right now.

Jes- your story made me sick to my stomach just reading it!! I'm SO GLAD you and your family are okay. The structures would be rebuilt, but it is absolutely, amazingly WONDERFUL that you don't have to even worry about it. Take care!!!

I'm so thankful you and your family are ok and the shop survived too. Fire is my worst nightmare!!!!!

glad you are okay. hopefully they can find out what happen, you know sometimes something as small as a discarded cigarette can bring disatrous results, especially if there has been no rain in your area for a length of time. but thankfully no one was harmed.

Jes, I'm glad you're babies and all of you are safe. Thank God your MIL was there. I hate to imagine how much worse it could have been with these fires & the drought. Stay safe.

Jes,

Thank Goodness everyone is OK. I've been watching on the news, but it hits home when you read about a personal experience. Stay safe and take care.

Thank you all for your responses:) I am calmer now. My headache has gone away........but i am a little worried about sleep tonight. There is still a small fire out there due to some fence posts being treated with a flamable chemical. dh says it will burn for days. x( I'm not liking that idea at all! I'm also a little paranoid about leaving the house EVER again....but you can't really live like that, so i'm choosing to get over it. I think a little wine is in order after cardio though.:)

We had camera crews and news anchors in our driveway and yard for several hours and they finally left. Several came in (as i was cooking dinnerx( ) to use the bathroom. :-(

anyway...thanks for the support and concern!
