Other Instructors Who Are Hard and Not Too Dancy?

Hi Guys,
Alrighty, I now own every currently sold video that SNM produces, and am (can't believe I'm even saying this) looking to expand my collection with some other instructors. Trouble is that my previous attempts (CIA, Christi Taylor) have been dissapointing, because although I actually enjoy some difficulty in choreography (like in Rhythmic Step), when I start feeling like my brain's getting a better workout than my bod, it starts bugging me; hence my slight annoyance with Christi, as cute as she is. Soooo, I'm hoping that some of you educated ladies can suggest something really hard, like Cathe, that's more athletic than dancy. I'm also looking for opinions on Mindy Mylrea, as she seems promising. Can anyone suggest something? Thanks you guys!
-Kate

I also like more basic choreography (Christi Taylor didn't last long around here! Like you say, I want to work my body, not my brain! That gets enough work during the day!) Gin Miller's "Intense Moves" is intense but with simple choreography (it's an "IMAX type" workout, but with much more lateral moves rather than some of the 180 degree moves Cathe incorporates). I've used Mindy Mylrea, and currently have one of her cardio workouts. Her workouts seem very athletic, with very little choreograpy (in fact, in the one workout I have, "Awesome Intervals", she tries to have a bit more complex choreography than usual, and her cuing is just not up to snuff). Lots of "fast feet" type moves and sports drills.

Kate, you probably would like Mindy Mylrea. Her moves are athletic, intense and choreography is very easy. I would recommend Intense Moves, Awesome Intervals, or Extreme Intervals plus Pump Party to name a few. She also has a body bar video, BOSU and medicine ball video if you have those kinds of fitness toys!

As far as intensity, you won't be disappointed!

Hi Kate! You've only mentioned about step. Do you do kickboxing at all? If so, you might want to check out Terri Reeves "Strike Zone & Bootcamp". She's a 4 time National Aerobics winner & what energy!!! I'd like to know what she eats! LOL Anyway I absolutely LOVE this tape. I also like Debbie Burns TKO Bodyboxing. This one is a boxing tape & its very fast. I like both of these ladies personalities. On a more intermediate level, there's Janis Saffell. She has her own website. The 2 tapes of hers that I absolutely love is Kickbox Express CIA 9809 & Hardcore Kickboxing. This latter one has some strength moves in it but its very easy no where near as intense as a Cathe tape but a nice addition to your library. HTH, Kathy:D

Thanks ladies! These are great ideas. Kathy, although I haven't done much kickboxing outside of Cathe's workouts, this might be a really good avenue for expanding my horizons. I've decided to go ahead and get a couple of Mindy's workouts, and will definitely look into Terri Reeves and Debbie Burns. Thanks again!

PS Other suggestions are still welcome! :D

Also worth checking out Keli Roberts. Good for both non-dancy step (CIA 2303: Step It Strong & Ultimate Step Workout) and kickboxing (CIA 9902: KickButt Combat).

She also does a fab ab workout (Your Best Body: Abs & More).

FYI she was IDEA Instructor of the Year award for 2003 (http://www.ideafit.com/PR2003July3.htm).

mindy mylrea is one of my favorites. Another one to try is helen vanderburg, intense but more athletic. Also what about Franny? Her choreograpgy I'd say is on similar level as cathe's. Definely more intense than christi and easier to follow . My pick don't give up on cia videos, try 9905 with Franny Benedetto.

Powerstrike Millenium 1 or 2. NOT 3.

Very intense, but low impact. If you like Cathe's new Kick Punch and Crunch, it is likely you will like this one...

Another round of excellent suggestions! I'm already anticipating a serious wallet workout in my near future. Oh, BTW, why is Powerstrike Millenium 3 not recommended? Just curious. Thanks again, and any other ideas are still welcome... ;-)

Mil 3 is just not as intense or fun. I did not care for it. If you do, for some reason decide to get it VHS, I can sell it to you. Let me know if you want.....

Mil 1 and Mil 2 are AWESOME. I think the production quality puts alot of people off, but they are kick butt workouts!!
And I think the music is great.
