This recipe looks so sinfully delicious. I really want to try it! I read on another board that they are so, so good. I think I might make them for Christmas.

Oreo chocolate balls

1 pkg oreos
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
melting chocolate

Make oreos into crumbs using a food processor, then blend in cream
cheese.
Roll into balls and place
in fridge for 30 - 60 minutes until hard.

Melt chocolate and dip balls (using toothpick like device) into
chocolate...refrigerate to harden.

Editing:
Someone suggested using bark chocolate instead of bakers chocolate b/c it clings to the cookie better.

RE: Oreo Balls recipe! Warning: Very fattening!

You are very Wicked! I hope claridge doesn't see this...she has food dreams! Thanks for the warning. I might have to make them too!

LOL!! TeeHeeHee!! I was really debating on whether I should post it or not on an exercise forum. I could not resist!!!

P.S. I'm so sorry to anyone having bad food dreams. Please ignore me! I haven't seen the dream post.

What Nicole said...you are evil and wicked...tee hee. This is my big party weekend. One on Friday and one on Saturday and I need to bring food to both. This may be one of the items I bring. Easy to make, high in fat, calories, and sugar. What more could one ask for at a Christmas party?!

Hey Dani, do you know how many this makes? I have a cookie party coming up and need to make 12 dozen. This looks easy, which is what I need:)

RE: Oreo Balls recipe! Warning: Very fattening!

has anyone seen that great recipie in the Family Fun magazine for December? I've tried this and they are stupendous and super easy to make!

pre-heat oven to 170
take pretzels, the one's shaped like waffles.
Put a Hershey's kiss in the middle of it.
Put it in the oven for 7-10 minutes.
Take it out and squish an M&M in the middle of it.
(The chocolate should be soft enough to squash down into a little pillow)

I tried this using the holiday M&M Mint candies and it worked great.

another version is to try this with Hershey's Hugs. They look pretty. But watch out. The white chocolate melts at a different rate than the milk chocolate.

My family just loves these and the kids love to help make them.

This sounds delicious! I'm so glad to see this recipe. My son is allergic to peanuts and Oreos are about the only cookie he can eat. He will love these.

Thanks,

Lee Anne

Hi all!! I haven't made them yet but it's all people are talking about today on the Chicago wedding theknot.com boards. No one is talking about wedding planning today...just these chocolate balls! A few of them said they are pure Heaven! Everyone is raving about them and worried they won't be able to fit in their wedding dresses! One girl said her Fiancee found them in the fridge and emailed her that "those chocolate balls in the fridge are freaking good!" :p

Another girl brought them to work and they went like wildfire she says. She's given the recipe out to 15 people.

Someone mentioned that with this one recipe, she made 60 balls.

HTH!

Here I'll quote one of the brides to be. This is what she wrote:

"As a person who is trying to stay on this "trying to fit into my dream dress diet" Can we kill the conversation on the oreo balls...People stay away from the oreo's...I tasted one and it was heaven ...but exactly..my butt is not going to fit into this dress and i know i'm not alone when I say...Death to the oreo balls or else there goes the diet...LOL
R U with me People?"

RE: Oreo Balls recipe! Warning: Very fattening!

Danna! That sounds great too! Someone on theknot.com Chicago boards also said she was going to try these Oreo balls with a hershey's kiss inside the ball. So she'll form the oreo cream cheese mixture around the hershey's kiss. That sounds interesting!

I love the idea with the waffle pretzels. That sounds so cute and if you use red and green M&Ms they can be for Christmas. Or you can use blue and white M&Ms for Hanukka and New Years. I love this idea too, as much as the Oreo Balls!

Thanks girls!

Oh man, those sound rich! Oreo's are the only cookie I can't resist.

If anyone is looking for a simple recipe for xmas here's a simple one a friend gave me - its so good!

Chocolate peppermint bark

1 bag of milk chocolate chips
1 bag of white chocolate chips
1-2 peppermint candy canes
peppermint extract

In a double boiler melt the milk choc & add a few drop mint extract(make sure the water doesn't come to a boil), line a cookie sheet with wax paper and spread the milk choc in a thin layer then put in fridge. Melt down the white choc (this melts very quickly so the water really doesn't need to be very hot), crush up a candy cane and add it to the melted white choc., spread the white choc on top of the cooled milk choc (do this quickly as it will melt the milk choc), crush up more candy cane and sprinkle on top, put into the fridge. Once hard, break it into big chunks.

This is always a big hit and everyone is so surptise by how simple it is.

Pretzel/M&M/Hershey recipe

My mom said she made the pretzel recipe and they were awesome! She said they were easy and made a big batch, too! Thanks goodness she lives in IN and I am in GA. They sound like the perfect combo of salt, crunch, and chocolate.
I am definitely going to try the Oreo recipe, too. My kids will get a kick out of smashing all those cookies up in the food processor!

You all are killing me here with the recipes!! Grrr.... But on the other hand I have to say I am greatful for the variety. I have this stupid cookie party coming up, and I figure I can replate the variety of cookies I will come home with, and give them to all the firefighters my husband works with. We are also going to the inlaws for Christmas and I would like to take something different. These sound so easy that my kids could make them (and the pretzle things, AND the oreo balls) and that is always a hit....stuff the kids make:)

Dani,

Thanks for the idea. I am having a cookie exchange at my daughter's Brownie meeting. This Oreo cookie can top the Girl Scout cookies, which by the way, they will be coming out shortly.}( }(

You know it is tough to beat those cookies. We scouts have developed extensive taste buds after eating all those cookies and would be very hard to find any other cookies that will satisfy but I think the Oreo and pretzel recipes will make the cut.

I will add it to my lists.:9 :9

I had the pretzel, hershey kiss things at a party last night. My friend got it from the Family Fun mag like you said. They were really cute and yummy.

Lori

I found round pretzels at Wal-Mart. They are perfect for the pretzel recipe (instead of the waffle pretzels). Then they look like little wreaths when they are done!

Can't wait to try the Oreo recipe! Thanks!
