Oprah's bra and jean show this week

>I remember some "experts" on her show stating that older
>women should never wear shorts, they should only wear skirts.
>Oh sure.

I think those same "experts" said women should never wear black pants or skirts. Sorry, folks, black DOES look good and it slimming, so I don't listen to them.

I think they were the British "What Not To Wear" women. And in addition to saying women shouldn't wear shorts, they said if they absolutely HAVE to wear shorts, they should be a longer style. Then showed someone in that style, which looked really bad to me! Some weird, tapered (?) just-above-the-knee length. Yuk!

I don't understand Trinny and Susannah's problem with shorts either, Kathryn.

I don't think that they said that women don't look good in black pants and skirts, but rather that people believe that far too many colors look good with black when they don't. I tend to agree with them on that. I don't think that black is the "neutral" color that so many people believe it is.

Black pants look best with tops that are a very deep color, like chocolate brown or a dark red. However, there are SOME blacks that look great with brighter colors, depending upon the shade of black and the type of material. T & S won't tell you that though because it makes it too confusing and they like to talk in "rules".

As a general rule of thumb, I would say avoid pairing black pants and skirts with pastels and other "weak" colors. Many really bold, saturated colors can stand up to black.

Oh, there I go off and running on one of my favorite topics again......
