Opinions on this bench?

RE: 4 those of U that got the rack!

yay!!! my new toy is all put together thanks to a very good friend. i don't think there is any way i could have done it. i am the opposite of mechanically minded. i saw all those pieces spread out and i couldn't even imagine where any of them went. i am terrible at putting stuff together. i am also pretty horrible at electronics.

anyway, my new bar fits perfectly. i wish i hadn't done legs today (and wasn't sore from yesterday's w/o) or i would go use it. i guess i'll have to wait a couple of days. x( :(

Well, I finally got the bench together - phew... What a job! Not awful, but definitely some work. Unfortunately, my DH refused to help me put it together. It's his way of "punishing" me for getting it (oh and my dad had to help me pick it up - lazy DH!). Oh well... Lucky for me, I can follow directions pretty well. I'm turning in for the night, but I will get the squat rack finished tomorrow. It is really too big for my family room and the 7' barbell is going to be dangerous down there. I will probably have to up my plans for turning the basement into a workout area. Now I just need to figure out where to move all the junk from down there!

Liann, I can't believe that you had to put that together yourself. ARGH...MEN!!! I am very impressed that you did it yourself though. I helped with squat rack but just kind of hovered while DH was putting together the bench.

I can see how the 7' barbell would be dangerous. I still have my 5' one but was looking at it last night thinking DD is definetly going to run into a 7' one at least a couple of times since it's going to stick out so much further.

Good luck in turning your basement into your workout area. Your DH will probably be happy to have the family room back!!

Liann, wow good job on setting it up yourself. I'm impressed. My DH and I did ours together and it took us both awhile. There were some screws we struggled with too. I love my 7' bar!

Tess - At one point I was actually balancing the front "seat" portion on my head while I was attaching it to the back frame/seat adjustment section. I had to be creative and I think my yoga practice actually helped prepare me for putting this together ;). It obviously would have been easier with TWO people. I will remember this though the next time DH expects me to help him with a project.
