I am embarrassed at how little I can do now

This is my fourth day working out, and I still can't do more than 30 minutes of cardio. My foot is finally healing, and I hope to work up to an hour. When I belonged to a gym, I used to do two hours, taking two classes back to back.

That is wonderful! Do you have 4 DS those are only 30 to 35 cardio then u lift weight for 30 that might help. And it will give u a since of accomplishment.
 
I usually do at least 20 to 30 minutes on weights

I do my upper body one day, and my lower body the next, and I have found that is the best split for me. Today is my day off, and I just want to work up to an hour of cardio, and get the cardio high I often get.

It is unfortunate that, in the hot summer in NYC, it is 80 degrees with two AC's running, and I often then do yoga and weights. Should I grit my teeth and do the cardio? I am often up early but I live in a condo with crazy rules about when you can do things and so on. I am also on the top floor where it is the hottest, and the hallway is dangerously hot when it is hot and humid. I feel sure that someone will collapse in the hallway soon, and there will be a lawsuit. This condo deserves everything it gets, and the accounts clerks fines people hundreds of dollars left and right. When my son almost died, and he was in the hospital for six months, I sent my check in every month. She ripped up the check every month during that time, and I am four grand in arrears. She had previously threatened me using incredibly foul language I will not post here. She lives with the skanky super who does nothing, and also curses the owners and tenants out with foul language.

The head of the condo association is also a miserable person who will do nothing about any of this. At one time, the super insulted a man's wife right in front of him, and the man punched him in the face. Nobody deserved it more. You cannot imagine how the super has cursed me out with disgusting language; I merely replied, "Wow, you are such a classy person." Sorry, I had to vent here.

It's muggy here again today! I did about 30 min. weeding the garden & taking DS's dogs for a half hour walk yesterday! The "poor pups" miss them alot!
I'll pick up on the rotation hopefully Tues(tomorrow is already booked) & finish(I guess) sometime in July!

Jane: Glad you back!:D Missed you! I haven't slept the last 2 nights because of the pain! I had a really good 8 days! It has to be the weather!:(

Renee: Great on the jogging!

Caitlin You go right ahead & vent here! Ithink it's great you're back up to 30 min. of cardio:D Do not beat yourself up because you're not back to an hour though! If it's hot & humid you may have to less cardio & more weights & on the good days do slightly longer cardio! All of us here don't always do what we have planned due to weather, aches & pains, & injuries! It's important you do what you can on that day! You will get back up to your hour of cardio but, you must listen to your body! Again all of us here are still trying to learn this!

Caitlin cathy. Is right we need to listen to are bodies and vent away LOL. These ladies are great to vent to. You are doing good.

Y for me before. So day one of rotation done. LOL hope I can stay on it.

Well, I would swear that I posted on Saturday, but I don't see it! :eek: I must have posted under the wrong date or something! :p I'm sitting here trying some Greek yogurt with strawberries. I've never had Greek yogurt before. Tangy! I'm glad I had read on the forums to put fruit in it!
Cathy: I'm sorry to hear that "things" are starting up again - I was hoping that the new meds would prevent flare ups. It's muggy here today (80% humidity) & rainy, so my pain is right up there, too...
Renee: Great job on the jogging! To me 4DS Hi's choreography is very tricky! I totally blew my diet on Saturday night - we ordered a pizza & I ate 4 pieces! :mad: Then, I had some candy bars. :mad: So, I figured I would consider it a cheat meal & move on! I'm back on track, but boy did that set up intense cravings! Last night, I would have killed for chocolate! LOL I had a couple of strawberries instead & felt very self-righteous... LOL :rolleyes: I am leaning towards paleo-type diet, but to be honest, I have not seen much difference. I have been able to get off a couple pounds from the 8 I had gained.
Caitlin: Seems to me that you have every reason to vent!!! Your situation sounds horrible!!! Your self restraint is remarkable!!! I know it's very hard to find places in NY, so you're probably stuck there, aren't you? I can't imagine having to live in those circumstances! I wouldn't advise you doing cardio in the extreme heat - I for one would pass out if I tried to do cardio when it's that hot. Could they evict you if you went ahead & did your cardio in the early morning?

Jane I had to giggle reading your post about pizza ...my favorite then I seen the candy bar. LOL sorry but I was giggling because I'm there with you! Oh Gawd why is it food that taste good is bad.. makes me mad! U will get on track.. you seem to have it all together!
Today is a rest day for me.
Cathy do you have well did doctor diagnose u with arthritis? If so what kind? Sorry if u already told me. I have degenerative disk as well and osteoarthritis. Oh osteopnea as well. I get soap scared because my mom had rheumatoid arthritis and that one makes your bones a mess. She hurt a lot and by the time she past in a matter of two yes her body was even cricked! I so hated to see her like that. I am watching that I don't do that.
Jane to me paleo seems hard to do. It looks difficult and I just wonder would it be something I Can keep up. I mean I eat salad lean meat and I eat low fat stuff. I do have processed food at times it seems unavoidable to me.
For me I guess I need a list of food I can eat not what I can't. LOL. It all seems like Atkins diet or a different version. And high protein low Carb. The zone. It all seems the same. I gained 10 pounds on Atkins!!! Eek
I am afraid of that. I hear the argument we need to eat fat put I can see I Can see i dont have a deficit of fat. LOL. It gets so confusing.
 
Renee: Giggle away - I'm glad I'm not alone!:D:p LOL Yes, Paleo is a lot like Atkins, except Paleo recommends lean, organic, or grass fed meat instead of what you can get at the supermarket. Primal allows dairy, but Paleo doesn't. To be honest, when I lost quite a bit of weight a few years ago, it was on a low fat diet. I had met Susan Powter (author of Stop the Insanity) at a book signing & decided to give it a go. That's when someone asked me if I had cancer (obviously they thought I was too thin!)! I wasn't exercising at all, but I gave up all alcohol, sugar & ate low fat. The weight just melted off me. So now, I'm trying to do it the right way, but things aren't budging! Maybe I'll go back to low fat - but then, my DH would get upset at me for changing the way I'm eating - AGAIN! LOL :rolleyes::confused:
 
Me to! That is how I lost 70 pounds. I loved Susan powter and covert Bailey. That is how I got lean and I kept it off! Well til here lately I started eating meat and sweets again and I stopped exercise. But now I look around for low fat and it is very few! Every thing is low Carb! I ate carbs for energy. I'd eat spaghetti and no meat. It was a lot easier to do. Not as confusing like before. Hey I am gonna try low fat again. Now to remember how I did it. Hmm I got so good at it I made low fat oatmeal cookies. Now I can't remythe ingredients. I know applesauce took place of oil I think. LOL.
 
By the way my computer crashed took it to beast buy today. I Cant see what is next on rotation on my phone. I had sun was HIS today off can u tell me what was supose to be the third day? Tomorrow? Thanks.
 
Renee: Today would be 4DS/Bootcamp for you. Sorry that your computer crashed. We're so dependent on them!
Cathy: Hope you're feeling a bit better - that the flare didn't erupt.
Caitlin: Keep up the good work! I know it's frustrating that you're not progressing like you think you should, but it IS forward progress, so keep plugging away. You'll get there!

I'm feeling a bit better today, so I may try to work out this evening. After too many days, I get antsy. So, even if it's just yoga, I'm going to at least try.
The rain has moved on, so maybe that's part of my feeling better -does seem to be connected.

Thanks Jane. I came home and did bootcamp and bi n Tri. Thanks for letting me know. I'm good for the rest of the week now but on sun it has hiit and pub. Now I have neither. What do u guys think is most like pub and a hiit workout? Maybe a price of AB? But I see it on Wed. Well I'm using hubby's laptop to see workouts and typing my post on phone. LOL I hate his keyboard. Okay my foot hurt in bootcamp I think I know what makes it hurt now ...jumps any kind and lateral movement as well. But I'm icing it now. I think bootcamp is fun!

I hope u feel better soon Jane I know how it feels not exercising.

It's still raining here with breaks of some sun! Had to put furnace on yesterday morning & this morning!The pain is definetly related to the weather! I saw my chiropractor on Mon. It's somehow been really busy here this week!

I'm going to try & see if a Arthritis type diet might help, trying to avoid the foods that cause inflammation!
The kids brought the new baby home Mon. night so we no longer have to go & walk their dogs!

Jane: I can't believe someone thought you had cancer! Women can't win, either we're too fat or too thin & must be sick! Susan Powter used to have a TV show??? I remember seeing her & I have her book "The Politics of Stupid" She did have a DVD set out in the exercise catagorie!! I loved watching her!
Are you still in alot of pain this week? Don't get too hard on yourself about the diet!

Renee: Great on your workouts & remember to modify the jumps!
I'm sorry your mother had to endure the pain & crippling effects of arthritis! I do have degenerative discs & in all my upper & lower back! The mid back has a couple of discs but not as bad as the upper & lower! I go back today for the doctor & will ask more questions! Last visit he was 1 1/2 hours behind!!!

Caitlin: Hope everything is going better for you & your workouts are coming along!

Cathy it rained here last Weeks to. Yesterday was gloomy today is sunny finally. I don't usually work on Wed but today the doctor ask me to come in and do a bridge on a patient whom says they can't cone in any other day. LOL.
I tried 4 DS BC yesterday I think it is fun! However I was correct ..its jumping that cause pain. Even standing and jumping on toes slightly! I can do it but not for long. I made it to the part jumping over green band and I felt and heard a pop! Before that I had Brooks shoes on and the side movement didn't work well in those shoe. Stop DVD change shoes. It was like my foot had no support on the side I could feel the souls of MT shoes on bottom of foot. So I grabbed my basically upshots. ...better. but still after is when I felt a pop on the top of my foot.so mad. Today rotation cause for a steady state .. Gawd I wish I had a spin bike. I usually jog if it calls for SS. Maybe ill do low impact step.. one of cathe intermediate ones. Not the green outfit the on she has a red shirt. Do you guys think that one is steady state? I am hobbling today.

So are ur son an DIL staying with you? R they living there? That can be nice. Or some cases bad! LOL.
I have DD also. I hope to God I DONT end up like poor mama.

I hope everything works out at docs for you. Did ur doctor talk about alternatives or things they can do? Surgery is scary. I'm not sure if I want to go there just yet myself.

I am looking into the low fat diet again. Broke out my covert Bailey book! Man I wish he'd cone back out of retirement.

Sounds as though we're all hobbling around today. :( I did Yoga Relax yesterday evening. Went to the chiropractor this morning. She wants me to give my hip at least another week of rest. :( She also worked on my elbow some. She pushes so hard I think I'm going to throw up, but after that & the ice therapy, it feels better, so I grit my teeth & get through it.
Cathy: One of the things I see mentioned regarding an arthritis diet is avoidance of nightshades. I don't know if I could ever give up tomatoes! I guess when I get in enough pain, I will! :confused: The Politics of Stupid - that's the Susan Powter book that got me started on low fat. She mentioned when she autographed it that her mother's name was Jane. I may have to dig that book back out! How's the new baby doing? The parents?
Renee: I love my Asics Upshots! I should be thinking about getting a new pair - before they do away with them. That's always my luck - I finally find a shoe that works for me, then they discontinue it! It sounds like you might want to give your feet a break today & rest! For HiiT substitute, you might want to try the HiiT portion of Intensity, or do the first 20 mins. of Athletic Training. For Pyramid, any of the weight workouts would be OK.
Caitlin: I hope things are going well for you & that you continue to feel a bit better every day.

Just wanted to say HI & ask how everyone is doing. It's a beautiful day here & I'm glad it's Friday. Going to do some light Yoga tonight, or maybe a workout from the book Metabolic Effect. I THINK it's light enough that it won't bother my hip or elbow...
Cathy: I'm envious of your outdoor workouts! Being stuck inside all day gets depressing! Ah, I always want what I can't have... LOL!
Pretty soon our new workouts will be arriving! Exciting! Seems to me, I was recouping the last time we were 2 weeks away from new workouts! Hmmm....:confused:

Hey ladies
I did an oldie but goodie, I did step today and legs, like i was supose to do yesterday, but I have been trying to get my foot better and my lower back. I am not doing to great on that. Well I did good on the dvd i did, It is strange it was chers old step with toning on the legs and abs. I used to do this workout when i was 24 and i have to say i felt it was slow motion! My lungs are in better shape now then they were . Like i used to do the step part and abs then abs and legs on the next day, but i did the whole thing today and it felt like a nice walk. I felt rejuevenated instead of worn out. I love Cathe videos but maybe i need to do my older videos on some days to get my body to cooperate with me. I feel like my lungs are better but my body is falling apart or fighting me on getting . stronger. But maybe i just need to step back a little, do a Kathy smith or cher or keli roberts two times a week and a Cathe video two and three times. Ill see how that goes for a while..

Cathe I think the Gardening is a great exercise and a lovly way to spend the day!

Jane I hope you start feeling better soon! I hate it that we are all having to slow down for injuries again. lol well this is a fitting thread isnt it!! lol We are in this together!
 
Today was supose to be LIS but I figure u better stay on tap with slow step lol! I did kathy smith the step workout. I usually do cathe stepwith one riser and know this kathy dvd is easy so i used two riser with the top I thibk 8 inch and I have to say it made my heart rate go to 142 so that was good. Choreography is super easy I can zone out and I am not torquing my back or foot in any way at all. Straight forward step. This may work til my injuries heal. I did burn 474. Calories on it nut it was 70 min. I feel I have more energy after the workout at least.
I think it is strange in my 20's I did these dvd and lost a ton of weight and I thought they were alittle challenge but now I'm in my 40 s I feel they arnt making me breathless at all. Like my lungs and heart are stronger as I'm older. Weird. But unfortunately the injuries are telling me to slow down I'm afraid im gonna lose my cardio endurance and strength. I think that is a good enough reason for DH to buy me a spin bike lol.
