On the road - body weight only workout

Hi everyone,

I am preparing for a trip out of town for work, and luckily I will be staying with family, so I'll have the opportunity to workout a bit in the evenings. I'm packing up a couple yoga DVDs to take (particualrly since I'll be doing lots of driving and field work), but Iwas also looking through my Cathe DVDs to see what I could take with me.

I think I'll be taking 4DS for the kickboxing and bootcamp segment, but it struck me that a minimal equipment or body weight only DVD would be a fantastic option if it was available. It would also be a nice mix up for my regular routine. I mean, I know I can do the stuff on my own, but having Cathe's program design and the encouragement of the DVD would go a long way.

I guess it's along the lines of doing a resistance band DVD, since those are easy to pack, but I'm a big fan of bodyweight work anyway, so thought I'd make the suggestion....

Cheers!
J.

I just spent two weeks out of town in Colorado and ended up bringing Kick Max and 4DS Kickboxing with me. As long as I was on the first floor, I was able to pop them in my laptop and do these :). I would love to have a bodyweight travel DVD from Cathe that included Yoga and stretching as well.

I second this! I wouldn't even mind including a resistance band (dynabands weigh almost nothing and take up almost no space in luggage). Even if Cathe doesn't do a completely new workout, I think it would be great to take some of the best of the various bodyweight and band exercises from her previous dvds (can someone say firewalkers?) and give us a new premix dvd to take with us.

Body weight-only but still HARD workout for travellers and others

I too am excited by the idea of a new DVD for travelling Cathe fans. I look forward to getting this! (See Cathe's announcement here: http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showpost.php?p=941594&postcount=4).

I must admit that I am not very keen on kickboxing, though I can see why that would find its way into a travellers' workout. It does not really get my heart rate up though, and (probably my technique!) seems to make my knees hurt.

I hope Cathe will find ways to use body weight that are intense and effective (preferably in an interval format). It is quite an interesting problem to solve -- how to do strength training in particular without lots of weights and other equipment. I should imagine that there would be a huge market even among non-Cathe-fans, for such a DVD workout. Not everyone wants to spend thousands of dollars on equipment, and not everyone has room for lots of equipment. Mine has taken over my house, and visitors sometimes raise their eyebrows about that.

I agree - especially with resistance bands

I'm totally on board with the idea of a traveler's workout.

I personally vote for emphasis on resistance bands. I have weak wrists from computer work and have difficulty with a lot of body weight exercises.

There are many wonderful bodyweight or resistance band moves already in Cathe's dvd; if they were combined in one mp3 for travellers, usable in a tiny hotel room, that would be terrific!
