On the Fence re: STS Cardio

Oh, woe is me! I'm so torn.

I love Cathe, and I love new cardio. Here's my problem: I was a total intensity junkie, especially in my later 30's. I was never up to an A-Jock Nosebleed Mish-Mosh, but I would thrive on something like MIC hi-low followed by IMAX 1, or the intensity sections of KM, KPC, and CK combined. And while I never "loved" IMAX3, I didn't dread it, either. But the last couple of years (I'm 41), I'm just done with ultra-intensity. I have to force myself to do intensity drills. I know I need to mix it up, and the 'Shock Factor" of STS Cardio appeals to me, but I don't know if this new series is going to be too much.

Please help, all you Cathe enablers.

Elsie

I know what you are saying. I'm also in my 40s and been doing step aerobics since Jane Fonda-days. My poor knees have had it so I may just preorder next month the series I'm most interested in, such as MMA.

I wish we had some clips to watch.;) No rush Cathe.

Elsie,

I hear ya. I am the same age and find I like challenge without super-sky-high-intensity now.

My instinct tells me Cathe will respond to the modifer requests (have you seen them piling up at the STC Cardio forum?)

I think it is likely there will be an announcement of more details before the 31st to help you gauge if this series will have a challenging but no-nose-bleed option too.

I think MMA and the steady state step sound handle-able. 20 minutes of hiit is something I do with sprint/jog intervals and I can take them still. Somehow a short and super tough workout is still manageable to me at 41. Have you considered this?

So a vast part of the system should be do-able even with the details avaialbel so far?

Oh Wow! Thanks for your replies--they are exactly what I was hoping for. "Challenging but no-nose-bleed"--perfect description, Vee! You've all given great advice. I think I'll hang out for a bit and see what new information comes along. I so want a MMA, and some new step as well. I just want it to be enjoyable for me, however. It's like the problem I have with KickMax: The kickbox portion is too easy, and the drills are effective but not fun for me anymore. I want a KPC-intensity MMA.

Modifiers are a great idea. I just have trouble with them, however. Part of me (a large part), thinks I have to do what the instructor is doing. And Cathe is my same height and a bit older; I should be able to keep up, right? HA! Like I'll ever be in the shape she is in--this whole post is all about how I don't want to work as hard as she does. I'm slowing down while she's coming up with new, fun, exciting, and perfectly evil ways to torture us. Sigh!

Thanks everyone!

Elsie

I have to through my hat in this ring! I struggle with pretty severe piriformis syndrome and anything high impact can really flare me up. I love intensity, and I have been doing a LOT of spinning lately, but I just cant' handle a ton of jumping. Here's hoping for TOUGH modifications!

The pre-order period/price is too short and I just can't do it by March 31st (my birthday, oddly enough). And it's pre-order price or forget it, for me. Too bad, because I'd definitely be on board if they'd extend the pre-order price one more week. Sounds like it will be the perfect system for mixing it up and would compliment STS very nicely.

I agree, the timing is just so short. I am on the fence because it is not in my budget with the end of the month coming and I have stopped spending beyond my means. I wish the time was extended.
