Joanna ~
I said a prayer that your pain would be relieved. I totally empathize...a few years ago I was diagnosed w/ TMJ. The doc prescribed Celebrex which did give me relief (and I needed relief desperately because we were about to leave on a 1 week cruise). Obviously, Celebrex is not an option any longer for anyone. Last time I had mouth pain (turned out to be an absessed tooth w/ a 35 year old filling in it!) the endodontist prescribed tylenol w/ codeine which did zero for me but the interesting thing is, he told me I could cycle the prescription w/a double dosage of Advil (he said it would be the same as prescription strength ibuprofen). I actually got more relief from doubling up on the Advil than the tylenol w/ codeine 'script. As far as the TMJ is concerned, I've gotten more relief from consciously relaxing my jaw. ....I realize that as much pain as you're in, that sounds over-simplified, (not to mention that it is near impossible to relax when you're in excruciating pain).
I do pray you get relief soon. I've done both - suffered w/ severe jaw and mouth pain and given birth naturally (no epidural, no pain relievers) and I'd rather be in labor and deliver a baby than to go thru the jaw/mouth pain.
