Okay.....

Shelley- You may not like hearing the song again, but I could DEFINITELY see the video once an hour for the rest of my life!!! That guy they have in it (from Heroes) is one YUMMY speciMAN!!!;-)

>I know, I know! But what about that song by the Plain White
>Tshirts-"Hey There Deliah?" Why oh why do I seem to hear this

Man, I HATE that song, too. Hearing the same crappy songs played to death (or good one's they make you hate by overplaying) is the thing that sucks about radio. There's lots of great stuff but none of us get to hear it because radio and the record business exist to feed off each other. If they aren't sure a cd is going to sell massively they can't risk investing the bucks. Hence, formulaic tripe is all we get. If I could get satellite radio where I work I'd certainly subscribe!

Thanks to Clear Channel Communications (and American Idol) we can all hear the same uninspired poop all over the U.S. and Canada. I get a kick out of their anti satellite radio commercials. The truth is, satellite is soooo much better (I loved XM when I had it) if only because you get to hear the music that is not deemed cool by the mass majority who love mind numbing crappola.

BTW, If I have to listen to that tone deaf idiot sing "Booooooo-tiful girls!" I shall, well, it won't be pretty.

Yeah, Clear Channel definitely did a number on radio stations. I don't have satellite radio, but I do make donations to KEXP.org (my favorite internet radio station) and my local NPR and an independent station here in town.

At work and at home I listen to a variety of really good internet radio stations. Thank goodness for Paste Magazine and Pitchfork, because radio and mainstream media are completely ignoring some of the best music around.

You KNOW it's bad when I even know that stupid 'beautiful girls' song and the Fergie song too - and I live in Germany for heaven's sake! Those songs are vile I tell you! Vile! The first time I heard that beautiful girls song, I thought there was something terribly wrong with my television!:p

I think the German radio stations, at least those I can find online, are among the most painful much my disappointment. I always held the Germans in high regards but the David Hasselhoff thing....

Ummmm.....After reading this post, I just went and downloaded Beautiful Girl......leaving with my head down.

Agreed Beavs! They also LOVE LOVE LOVE Lionel Ritchie for some reason.(?) This is why I don't listen to the radio or watch much television for that matter...and I STILL know these songs! How does that happen?

I can't help it, you guys...I love those two songs!!! I could listen to them over and over and over....sad, I know.

Lionel Ritchie? Makes one wonder what came first, the steins of hefeweizen or Lionel Ritchie (I could never get that drunk......)

Ha ha ha ha! I've never heard this before!!!! Switch to 102.1, Shelley, they never play Fergie there. Or better yet, just keep your iPod on all the time.

Please, Donna! I do listen to 102.1 but my co-worker listens to the horrid Chum-FM. And I can't wear my iPod in the office! Sometimes I live stream the Edge.

OK - now where's the logic in that? Your coworker can listen to the radio, but you can't listen to your iPod? Everyone should be able to listen to their Pod and nobody should be able to listen to the radio.

I thought maybe your daughter was playing it. I have to listen to All Star from Smash Mouth over and over right now. Teri's current favorite song. Thankfully, I like it. For now.

I like your logic but they wouldn't go for it here.

Sophie is currently hooked on the new Avril Lavigne CD, which is tolerable, except for that horrendous "Boyfriend" song. Blech.

You know, Van Halen's "Beautiful Girls" is pretty cool,

and funny.

I never hear it on the radio either.
