OK, next Xmas question--what's your favorite song?

I really love them all--keep my radio on the Xmas station through the entire season. But here are my top 4:

Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You (Billy Squire--obscure but so pretty)

David Bowie & Bing Crosby's version of the Little Drummer Boy

Elvis's version of Blue Christmas

Karen Carpenter's version of Merry Christmas, Happy New Year

Laura, I have to agree with you on David Bowie and Bing Crosby's "Little Drummer Boy". I saw the video on the big screen at Universal Citywalk last week and it was great!!

There's a Bare Naked Ladies with Sarah MacLaughlin version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" that is my favorite this year...I also really like any version of "The Little Drummer Boy" and the Harry Connick, Jr piano version of "Winter Wonderland" and "Carol of the Bells" with George Winston....I started out with one...but I guess I like them all too!!

Bite off more than you can chew. Then chew it---Ella Williams

The movie question was much easier--lol!

I love all of the religious carols and have them in multiple versions, old and new, classical and pop. I can't get enough of songs like Away in a Manger, What Child is This, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (the first Christmas song I ever learned to play on the piano :+ ), O Come, O Come Emmanuel, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night, Jesu Joy...

When I really want to rock I can't resist Brian Setzer's version of Jingle Bells :D

Shelley, those are two great songs, I used to love the Pogues!! My Girls were shocked watching the video to Fairytale of New York last Christmas!:)

I always loved the Snoopy and the Red Baron song, I remember singing that in the car with my family...Christmas bells, those Christmas bells, ringing through the land....:)

I think Adam Sandler's Hanukkah song is pretty funny too:+

I just made a cd for some friends with my faves. Some of them aren't exactly xmas songs, but they get me in the holiday mood:

So This is Christmas – John Lennon
Christmas in the Trenches – John McCutheon
Fairy Tale of New York - the Pogues
Happy Days and Auld Lang Syne - Richard Thompson
My Favorite Things – John Coltrane
Mary - Lou Barlow(you might not want a devout Christian to hear this one!)
Imagine – John Lennon
River – Joni Mitchell
Merry Christmas (I don’t want to fight tonight) – The Ramones
16, Maybe Less – Iron & Wine
I’ll be Home for Christmas - Elvis
Please Come Home for Christmas – James Brown
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Judy Garland
Auld Lang Syne – Jimi Hendrix

O Holy Night, Martina McBride's version. I'm not a fan at all of her regular music, but her voice is beautiful in this song.
Brandi

TeTe, 'River'is one of my favourite songs anytime of year (I just plain old love Joni):). I just bought Sarah McLachlan's 'Wintersong' and she does a gorgeous rendition of 'River' on it, the whole album is evocative (not sure if that's even a word...) and a pleasure to listen to.

White Chritmas by Bing Crosby, is my all time favorite.

I like all the classics, really. Anything by Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Burl Ives, Perry Como, Andy Williams, The Carpenters, Elvis, etc. etc.....

Ok i am bad... Do you really want to know...
I have this cd of bad christmas songs and i better not say. I will probably p someone off.
They are a good hoot with the adults.. My DH hates it. Me and sis love to have a few and listen to it..
Otherwise i like anything that doesn't sound like an orchestra. More hippity hop x-mas.

Mary , Did you Know?

God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman (barenaked ladies)

ALL Mannheim Steamroller

Transiberian Orchestra !:7 :7

My all time favorite song is "Oh Holy Night". Not by any artist - I just love the song.

I love "Do you Hear" by Johnny Mathis (I know, I know - but he sings the WHOLE song and does it so beautifully)
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Barbara Streisand
"Santa Baby" Eretha Kit (I don't know why - this one just makes me smile)
"Mele Kalikimaka" by either Jimmy Buffet or Bette Midler
"There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays" Bing Crosby

Ah darn, I love most of them. That's why you'll find me singing along at the top of my lungs every commute to and from work... I love this time of the year!

Burl Ives - Holly Jolly Christmas. Pretty much all the classics really. I also like several of the more up to date ones but I don't know the names! One is a Garth Brooks' one (about a way, silent night, something like that), one is by a girl and involves a bird being freed from a cage and the other is a magnificent children's choir singing something like, "Merry Merry Christmas" Someday I hope to catch the names of these :+
