OK, next Xmas question--what's your favorite song?

I just heard the cutest Christmas song the other day. It's called, "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".

I think Mannheim Steamroller makes an beautiful instrumental arrangement of Silent Night, but it's been so long since I've heard this one that I can't remember if it's Mannheim Steamroller or not...and whether or not the song is Silent Night. Isn't that awful?! I just know I love the song, and remember just being so enchanted by the music that I can't even remember the details...it's been probably 12-15 years since I heard it, but I still remember it.

I also love the Bare Naked Ladies with Sarah MacLaughlin version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and the Bowie/Bing drummer boy.

Too many to list! But a new fav Christmas CD is James Taylor's. It's awesome! Love the 'Very Special Christmas' CDs - 1 & 3 are best, IMO. And the Barenaked Ladies Christmas CD is another fav.

Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You (Billy Squire--obscure but so pretty)

I've got that on the "VH1: The Big 80s Christmas" CD. Lots of good stuff on that. I love "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses.
:D

I'm an absolute Christmas junkie so I love them all! We have eight decorated trees in our house for Heaven's sake! LOL!

No particular artists, but I love the classics - O Holy Night, Silent Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing ... things like that. I also love Karen Carpenter's version of Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. I have the CD version of Andy Williams' 1963 Christmas album, and It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year is one of my all-time favs. My mom played Christmas music from Thanksgiving to practically Valentine's Day, so anything I remember from my childhood brings back great memories. I'm such a sucker for nostalgia.

Karen Carpenter's version of Merry Christmas, Happy New Year

and

John Lennon - So this is Christmas ...

.. I also like the funny ones .. "Redneck Christmas" .. and "Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer" .. LOL .. not that I would play them at a Christmas gathering .. but I do get a laugh in the car when they come on ... LOL :D

<Only one top favorite: "Mary, Did You Know?">

I totally agree with this one! This is the only Christmas song that brings tears to my eyes - I heard Wynona sing it with Kenny Rogers recently and it was awesome. My favorite version is still Kathy Mattea's.

I am not a big fan of Christmas songs but these two will always get me to stop, turn up the radio and listen.

Mary Did You Know - I really like the Michael English version

Step Into Christmas - Elton John. :)
