Ok. I gotta ask. Do you iron your sheets?

This sounds like something my DH would do. He is so anal about his sheets being "perfect". No pills, wrinkles, etc... I need to make sure he never reads this thread. It might give him ideas!

Charlotte, now I am feeling better, maybe you are my long lost sister! I thought I was the only wacky one ;-) Most people I know don't iron at all and look at me like I have lost my mind (which is probably true). I am no Martha Stewart by any means and my house is usually a mess but can't do without ironed sheets or clothes.

Hmm, maybe I do have a compulsive disorder.

Kathryn -

You'd be hard *PRESSED* to find your iron?

Oh no you didn't just say that! Very punny!

LOL!

Ok, this maybe a stupid question. But here it is anyway, how do you guys let the dryer do the ironing? My stuff comes out of the dryer wrinkled. Maybe a need a lesson in how to dry my clothes so I can stop ironing my sheets and get a life:+

When I was growing up, my mom would iron sheets and then later I had to do it. Thank goodness I choose not to do that in my household. It's just too time consuming and I have other things I would rather spend that time on. I usually fold my sheets right out of the dryer and that helps some of the wrinkling.

Iron my high thread count sheets?!?! Are you kidding??? I didn't even iron my uniforms when I was in the military!!!

More than half the time, my pillow cases don't even match!!!

I'm with Ame, I don't even fold my undies!

Carola, I usually just stick the item, like my jeans, in the dryer with a dryer sheet and they come out soft and wrinkle free. Other things I just fold right out of the dryer like people stated. You know, I have no idea where our iron is either. I think it's in the hall closet but I'm too comfy to go look.

Adults are always asking kids what they want to be when they grow up because they are looking for ideas.

LOL! I didn't even notice that!
(My punny brain cells must work even in the morning, when most of me doesn't!)

Make sure you take the clothes out, give them a shake, and hang them up, the second the drying cycle is over.

I can't even imagine draping my king size sheets over a 12 inch ironing board. A good portion of the sheet would sit on the floor during the entire ordeal, which would likely negate the purpose of ironing anyway. I actually have a habit of leaving my sheets in the dryer for several days, so they are always a wrinkled (but clean) mess. Just the way I like them.

I don't know, ladies... I think you should try it! It's rather therapeutic for me to create those nice, smooth sheets that I know I'm going to get to enjoy!! }( As you can tell, I am the most Virgo of all Virgos.:7

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :D

I stayed at a B&B once and the sheets were the softest I've ever slept on. We were talking to our hostess the next day and brought up the soft sheets. She swore to us that it's NOT the thread count alone that makes soft sheets. Her trick is to iron the sheets after each and every washing! Can you imagine doing that every (or nearly every) single day?!

I remember my mom ironed everything, too, and our sheets were always soft so maybe there's something to this.

That being said, I never, ever iron my sheets. :7

We don't iron any of my DH shirts he wears for work. As a bachelor, he learned that if you take the shirts out of the dryer after 10 minutes on the high heat cycle and hang them on hangers right away, no need for ironing. Of course you have to smooth out any set in wrinkles by hand and make sure the neckbands are folded over properly, but that only takes a couple of seconds. Gravity pulls down the fabric and no wrinkles.

We tend to buy as many wrinkle free shirts as possible also.

DH is an Engineer and during his years as a bachelor conducted all kinds of little experiments like this :)
