OH Michele..CCV8

I just wanna cry:(

Started off great, love the music. Thirty seconds left of challenge 1 and my handlebars catch my headphone wires and my iPod goes flying. I quickly put it in my docking station and it plays but starts to pause then plays. By the 34 min. mark my iPod completely freezes up and won't even reset:mad: So I put on some music and kept going for the rest of the hour. What a bummer. I was so psyched to do this one

I have a first generation iPod and I think it is time for a new one. This isn't the first time it has froze up on me. What I could really use are wireless headphones. Is there such a thing?

Anyway, I hope your workout went much better than mine.

I can't believe it!

Well, if it's any consolation, I worked hard enough for the both of us. I kicked some serious cardio BUTT today!

Of all the CC workouts, Vol. 8 is my Achilles heel. I've always loved it but... lets just say I aspired to it. The first time I did this one I thought I would die. It took me a week to recover - lol! I went into today determined to come out on the other side with NO regrets and I'm proud to say I accomplished my goal.

Let me know when you get your new iPod and we'll schedule another Vol. 8 date! :D ;)

ETA that I'm pretty darned impressed that you kept going for an hour without the workout! I'm sorry to say that I probably would've used it as an excuse to blow it off. ;)

Sorry to butt in here...

YES! There is!!! :) There are lots of brands and styles available; here's just one of them:

What a tragic tale - to have your iPod break in the middle of a CC workout. My heart goes out to you. You didn't even get to the 2nd challenge - it's the BEST ONE EVER!!! Well, go get yourself a shiny new iPod and some wireless headphones so you can fully appreciate Vol 8. ;)

High fives to you!! Thanks for kicking some butt for me;)

I had 2 minutes left of the second challenge so I had a chance to experience the 8 min hills...yowza. The music rocked and has become my new favorite. At least the first 34 minutes:rolleyes:

Thanks Em for your reply. I've often wondered about wireless headphones because this isn't the first time I've had them whipped off my head.

Well, I'm off to search for a new iPod. My DS works at Best Buy but unfortunately he can't get a discount on iPods. I hope the newer generation pods can take a little more abuse just in case.........

Have a great day! I'm heading to the racetrack tonight then to the cabin for the weekend.

Apple is expected to release new iPod models by September 10. So wait until then to get a new model. You will likely get better features for less.

I use this pair of wireless headphones from jaybird gear:
http://www.jaybirdgear.com/
They come with a bluetooth adapter for iPod.

An alternative to the iPod is to conside a Samsung player with built in bluetooth or the new Sony with built in bluetooth:
a. Sony's new bluetooth mp3 player: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013B46UU/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=electronics (there are two versions - one which comes with a bluetooth pair of wireless headphones "in the box" and another which comes with wired headphones. If you chooose the latter you ned to buy a pair of wireless bluetooth headphones separately. You can use them for working out and use wired headhones at other times)
b. Samsungs bluetooth player with a touch screen - it is smaller than the ipod touch:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-YP-P2...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1218223053&sr=1-1
c. Samsung's cheaper model with no touch screen:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Porta...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1218223176&sr=1-4

Samsung players dont come with a wireless pair of headphones although they are wireless ready. You need to get a pair of bluetooth wireless headphones separately.

Whichever model you choose, wait until Apple's expected ipod update next month before you decide.

I dont like the logitech model because I get very sweaty and the sponge covers get sopping on such models when that happens.

Here is my review of the jaybird gear headphones:

my handlebars catch my headphone wires and my iPod goes flying. JJ

And I thought it was just uncoordinated me that would catch my thumb in the headphone wire, they'd then whip off my head, my psuedo-ipod would fall to the treadmill and fly off the back.....all while I'm chasing it thinking that I could actually catch it.

I happened to do CCv8 today too.....loved it. I didn't go very high on the incline for the hills and ran most all of the way....it was great....I liked this version of doing vol 8.

Vee I was also going to say to wait until Apple releases the new line.

I'm actually waiting so I can get our 10 yr old her own nano - she keeps borrowing mine when she has kitchen duty and some of my music is just not appropriate for her tender ears so  while I wait for the new release my nano has most of my music all but deleted and lots of High School musical songs instead lol

Thanks Vee!!

You always have such a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate you sharing it:D

I was able to reset my iPod. I was pushing to two sides rather than the center & menu buttons. Too late for my workout but maybe next time it will reset right away. I still plan to get a new version and will wait to see what comes out in Sept. I like the look of those headphones. I like the earbud style because I sweat too much:eek:

No..you are not alone. I've caught my headphone wire and ripped them right off my head while doing sprints on my TM more times than I like to admit:eek: I have an armband but I really don't like using it.

JJ

I have a dock built into my TM, but if you can't find good wireless ear phones, how about a docking station with speakers?

At least you figured out how to reset it. :)

In the meantime, maybe try sliding the headphone wire underneath your shirt. I have a clip for my ipod and I clip it onto my shorts and then slide the wire up my shirt. I too have flung my ipod across the room. Thank goodness I did it at home and not at the gym and where I could have knocked someone out!

Thanks for the info Vee on the new line of Ipods coming out. I am saving for an Ipod Touch. Now I'll wait and see what's new.

Tracy

Vrinda, thank you for all the information on wireless headphones. I'm always getting caught in my headphone wires, too, and it drives me crazy!

I have a docking station but I don't like to use it with Cardio Coach. I feel like you lose a lot of the special effects, like when you hear Sean in one ear and then the other, and some of the softer vocals are lost as well. I don't mind using it for Pump, but not the cardio workouts.

Yea, my 1st gen did the same thing awhile back and I thought it was broken. I was coming down to the end of challenge one on CC8 and was NOT happy. I remembered a co-worker telling me "they just do that sometime" and she said to just plug it into the charger and check on it later. That worked but, for me, the point was that I realized I couldn't always rely on the device. I never hear negative stuff like this about other mp3 players so I think Apple has a quality control issue. It hasn't jacked-up on me since but I remain cautious.

I am glad that helped JJ, Tracey and Michele (Miss Lee suits you! :))

I love the headphones for the stereo effects in CC too. "Sean in one ear" never grows old for me.

The jaybird gear bluetooth are my best tech buy in some time. Not everyone likes them though. I think it depends on whether you have "standard" sized ear canals. It works for most people. If your ear canals are too small, then the fit is not good and they feel "loose" because they dont sit deep enough. DH cant use them and marvels at how they work so well for me.
