Oh my...for your gals that LOVE oatmeal but also love brown sugar...I have found a healthy replacement!

Oatmeal made w/water
a couple drops of Cary's sugar free syrup
dash of sugar twin fake brown sugar
cinnamon to taste

The sugar free syrup does the trick! OMG it is absolutely yummy and honestly tastes like brown sugar. It only a takes a couple drops so be careful.

I am an oatmeal addict and just couldn't help but share the recipe.

Enjoy!

I love oatmeal too! Can you get this sugar free syrup at any grocery store? I usually just put some cinnamon and Splenda.

i used to eat a banana and sugar free maple syrup on my oatmeal OR strawberries and splenda..

then i discovered chocolate and peanut butter.. OH.... MY... GAWD!

i won't eat it any other way! as a matter of fact.. i eat it for breakfast and lunch some days! or lunch some days.. like today.. i have a bowl in my fridge waiting for me to warm it up!

to a single serving or regular oats (not the quick kind.. not as healthy for you!) i add:

1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter (i don't use jiff or skippy.. it has sugar in it)
1/2 tablespoon baking cocoa
2 splenda packets
and the salt the recipe calls for but says is optional!

i use milk (i use light vanilla soy) to prepare it.. not water.. it's too.. uhm.. watery if i use water! lol! i prefer the richness of the milk!

my mouth is watering just thinking about lunchtime today!

Yum!! Those suggestions sound so good. I sometimes sprinkle in another cereal to add more flavor.

Oh man, that peanut butter one with chocolate sounds fab! I've been using the sugar free syrup for some time now and that is really good. And i also like using the light vanilla soy milk in mine too to cook it instead of water. Now, when I go to the gorcery store I will have to get some, that sounds really good.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal, my two favorite foods combined with oatmeal. Thanks for sharing as I would have never come up with this one on my own. Can't wait to try it.

I eat this every morning and make it with milk, frozen defrosted unsweetened strawberries, and exactly one teaspoon on dark brown sugar (it's only 15 calories) but you have to sprinkle it across the top and don't stir it in. Very important, that way the sugar is where you can see it, taste it, feel the texture (which I sometimes think is may favorite part!) I'll take the extra 15 calories anytime I just love oatmeal this way!

I love oatmeal too. I hate the taste of artificial sweetener though so I put in tons of cinnamon, sliced almonds, and add a sliced banana and it's perfect, just sweet enough. I do love the instant brown sugar and cinnamon but only occasionally eat it as a treat.

I have found Smuckers brand of the sugar free maple syrup to be the best. The other ones taste weird.

I love oatmeal and eat the rolled or steel cut kind every morning, though it takes longer to make. I use a tsp or so of honey in it. It's healthier than white or brown sugar (has antioxidants in it)and doesn't spike your blood sugar. I also put a couple of chopped almonds or pecans on top because I found that holds me better post-workout (I do my cardio in the am).

I prepare my oatmeal in an odd (I guess) way... I throw some of the old fashioned Quaker oats in a small pan with egg whites, and cook until firm. I then cover it w/cinnamon & sugar free syrup... Tastes great & gets the protein in there, too!

I'm so glad to see others who love oatmeal as much as I do. I've been cooking 1/2 cup of regular oatmeal with 1/3 cup of unprocessed wheat bran. The wheat bran adds a lot more fiber and doesn't seem to detract from the taste. I like putting banana, 1/4 cup raisins, sweet n low brown sugar and cinnamon in it. This breakfast holds me easily to lunch.

The chocolate peanut butter recipe above sounds yummy! Also the one with eggs. I'm going to try that one tomorrow. Thanks all for the ideas.

I dont put any sugar in my oatmeal , I have glorifid oatmeal .Heres whats in it ... I'm actually reading it off the ingred, list Here goes : Whole Wheat, rolled oats.brown rice. almonds, raisins, sweetened cranberries, flax seed, yellow corn, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, banana chips, garbonzo beans, oatbran millet, shredded sweetened coconut, barley, oat groats, and spice...... Anyways its Yummmy Yummy . One third cup every am ,keeps me full for awhile !!!! My kids wont even try it ,To Healthy for them LOL:) :) :) I think my body loves it too !!!!:)

Sounds good, but I find that if you make your oatmeal with skim milk instead of water, there is no need for sweeteners. I also recommend adding a dash of nutmeg in addition to the cinnamon.

I wonder if I could use the skippy low carb peanut butter. It is sweetened with splenda. I don't like the natural peanut butter. Too darn gritty.
I am trying to have an extremely low carb intake to lose weight, can I eat oatmeal anyway. I have the old fashioned kind.
This recipe sounds so good, like a no bake cookie...that didn't set up. :p
