O/T--I have a little problem.

Sorry guys, but this has nothing to do w/the new DVDs. But I could use a little advice.

I got home from work yesterday & couldn't find the remote control for my VCR. The cleaning lady was there & I'm pretty sure she lost it, b/c I know it was there when I left in the am since I used it to do Step Heat (BTW, does anyone else ever do SH anymore? I really do like that workout). Obviously she didn't steal it b/c WTH would she do w/it? So I call her & she has no idea where it is. I use it quite a bit b/c the remote to my DVD player never worked so I've never really made the transition from video to DVD (are you sensing a remote control problem here? LOL!).

So she's been coming to my house for about 3 months now, and she also broke my sidekick to my Electrolux. It was already getting a little worse for the wear so there's no way I can even say anything to her, but now it doesn't work at all, & w/2 dogs I used that thing pretty regularly. Dammit.

Now what do I do? Where can I find a replacement remote for my VCR, & how long will it take to get it? This is kind of making me mad. I'm thinking one more incident & I'll have to find a new cleaning lady. x(
 
Places like Circuit City and Best Buy have universal remotes that you can use on all your video equipment. It can run your TV, DVD player, and your VCR player - all from the same remote. They are not really that expensive either.

Yeah, I think it's time to boot the housekeeper.
 
Maximus, just get a universal remote and it will come with instructions on how to program it to whichever or all of your players. best buy, radioshack, circuit city, walmart....


sounds like you have an accident prone cleaning lady!!!! i think you should definately say something!

Hey Maximus,

I hope you find a good replacement. I broke the remote to my tv once and tried to order another one. The replacement was almost as expensive as the tv x( . I bought one of those universal thigamabobs but I've never been able to use the tv the same way. I know that there is a good answer out there and you must find it.

Hi Jes--I am sleeping better, thanks for asking. I found the root of the problem, it was the BF. Funny how your subconscious works, huh? I've slept every single night all the way through since I dumped him.

I've tried those universal remotes & they never work for me. I swear I have some kind of electrical current that turns all technology to $hit as soon as I touch it. ;( Maybe I just need a new VCR.
 
I only do Step Heat when coming back to fitnesss after aloooooooong break.

I would throw a complete hisssy fit if my VCR or DVD player remotes went awol. So, I feel your frustration!

So glad you got rid of the BF!

I do Step Heat also. Keep looking. I have found items in the most bizarre places. Sometimes you have it in your hand and set it down somehwere that would never look for it. Just last week, I found my car keys in the Linen Closet!!

Bear with me when you get to the end you'll see the connection....

In a hospital in Johannisburg, South Africa there was a ward in a hospital where the patients that were on life support were housed. For 3 weeks the patient that was in a particular bed died on Friday morning (3 Fridays, 3 patients). The hospital couldn't make any connection so they set up monitoring on the new patient on the 4th Friday. When the patient coded, they rushed into the room to find a housekeeper vacuuming the floor with her vacuum plugged into the wall instead of the life support sytem.

I clean up ok?

It will definitely turn up in the most unlikely spot. Probably between the sheets on your bed or folded into the laundry or something.

I dread the day the housekeeper comes. I always spend the night before putting everything away so the surfaces are exposed for her to clean. After she leaves, I usually spend the next day putting everything back where I like it, because she moves everything. x(
 
I KNOW! Why can't she just put things back the way they were? I mean, for some reason the woman does my windows EVERY SINGLE TIME she comes (why? Do my windows get that dirty in 2 weeks? x( ), so when I get home the blinds are all over the place & the curtains are tied in knots.

I KNOW she moved the damn remote. Or maybe put it in a pocket or something while she was wiping stuff down (mind you I'm not accusing her of stealing--obviously there's nothing she could do w/it anyway). Where is it? I've looked everywhere! Between cushions, under tables & sofas, in the entertainment center, in all the drawers & cabinets..........GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
 
Okay...this might sound weird, but have you checked the bathroom?

I don't know why, but whenever I'm missing something like this, I always find it in the bathroom (remote, phone, glasses, dog dish). I blame it on too much multi-tasking. :)
 
LOL that is a little weird. I'm telling you, I've looked everywhere. My bathroom is so tiny there's no way I'd miss it if it were there.

I'm thinking she might've tossed it by mistake. There were 2 bags of garbage on my porch when I got home & I have a suspicion it was in one of them.

She does the windows every time she comes? I thought my housekeeper was weird because she Murphy-oils the wood floors every time she comes. A few times a year would seem good enough to me. But you got me beat on the windows. That's really overkill!
