Nutella, part of a healthy breakfast?

Me too. I seen the ad on TV where the woman is making her kids this nutritious meal with Nutella. I love the stuff but it's not all that healthy. High in sugar and all that. My mom use to give me and my brother a slice of bread with this stuff on it every day after school and we loved it.

I can't have this in my house, it would be gone in one day. LOL!

I saw that commercial too and thought to myself -- "Really? Are you serious?" But then again, TV advertisers want us to think Cocoa Puffs and Frosted FLakes are healthy too because they're made with "whole grain" -- WHatever!

Debbie, I know for a FACT it wouldn't last in my house! It didn't! :D After coming back from a trip to Italy, where every morning we were offered Nutella for breakfast (like anyone would turn it down!), I decided to buy a jar. GONE in less than a week! (WAYYYYYYYY less!) "A spoonful won't hurt," "Oh, I'll just have a little taste," "Hmmm, I bet it would taste good on a strawberry (or ten!)"

Nope, I haven't bought it since! It just calls to me when it's in the house!

Let's have a Snickers Bar with a cup of coffee! Breakfast of Champions!!

When I was a kid, it couldn't be bought here in the states, but my aunt lived in Germany at the time. Oh, how we would anticipate any box that came from her because it always had a few jars of this stuff. Didn't last long then, and definitely doesn't now that I introduced my own kids to it.

Sherry, it wasn't in our stores here either. My mom got it from Italy (where she is from). Her brother would send it to us so that was a huge treat when we were young. I'll never forget it.

But still, I just can't have it in my house. LOL!!!

Tete, I never thought to dip strawberries in it. OMG!!

Debbie, take your strawberries and BACK AWAY FROM THE NUTELLA!!!!

OMG!! Me too!! Used to watch Flinstones/Tom and Jerry cartoons after school eating my slice of bread with Nutella.

My cousin was just here for two weeks visiting from Italy - and unfortunately I had my fill of Nutella and Pan di Stelle cookies (another yummy favorite). Back to my regularly scheduled eating though. :(

I live in France and the stuff basically has its own aisle at the grocery stores. People LOVE it here. But you can't find peanut butter.

Since Tufts University is seeing fit to label Fruit Loops and Kraft Mac 'n Cheese as "healthy choices," I don't see why Nutella wouldn't fit their criteria (which must be that the manufacturers donated a whole wad of money to somebody somewhere, IMO).

I love Nutella! My parents used to buy it at the import store when I was little. When I was an exchange student in France, the little girl I lived with would eat it for breakfast every day along with hot chocolate:) I give my kids a Nutella sandwich for breakfast occasionally-a thin layer spread on Van's multigrain waffles. I would never consider it healthy though-well, except for the soul;)

I absolutely love the stuff!! I rarely buy it because it's so addictive, but when I do, I go ahead and buy a loaf of crusty Italian bread with the complete knowledge and understanding that I will eat the whole jar in one sitting. :D

The best way to have a homemade oatmeal cookie, just smear some Nutella on top. I swear this is what Lindt truffles are filled with.

I bought a jar of Nutella one time and decided I cannot have it in the house. I bought it for a recipe for Nutella Cream Cheese Almond Pudding. I ate half the jar before I got to the recipe:eek:

I love it on graham crackers! I haven't had that in a very long time because I can go through half a jar in one sitting!
