Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezing issues

Just an update. I have a JVC dvd player and am experiencing the freeze ups on LIC, Drill Max, and now also Butts and Gutts (end of floorwork, going into the stretch) I played these on my daughters cheap Polaroid and they work fine. Her player is newer than mine but also was a lot cheaper. Don't think I paid more than $20-30.

Hi Debbie with a space H!

Every time I see you post, I think it's ME! But, everyone knows my mouth is much BIGGER! (Notice post count! Ha!)

I'm so thankful for all of the knowledgeable posts in this thread.

If it is ONE disk among 4 I could entertain the thought that it COULD be a defective disk.

But, any more than that - you've got to look at the player. If your DVD is older and it freezes, no amount of replacement disks is going to fix that problem. Frustrating? Certainly. But, what is the reasonable solution? I wish people would consider what any other manufacturer/distributor would do.

If a new movie release from Warner Brothers didn't play in your player would you expect Warner Brothers to compensate you for a new player? Or keep sending new disks because you insist it's not your player? Ain't gonna happen.

Technology advances so fast that it's very difficult to keep up (my 5-year old 36" flat screen tube TV is now a dinosaur). Some electronic equipment are just disposable, unfortunately.

RE: Hi Debbie with a space H!

Hi Debbie!

Yes it is confusing especially since I've been posting lately. Notice my signature line, didn't want any confusion...LOL

I have had trouble with one of my DVD players (the oldest one) on some DVDs in the past. Sometimes a disk won't even load on the older player (4-5 years old), but I can take the same disk and pop it into one of our newer players and it's absolutely fine.

Technology does move fast and sometimes the older players just can't handle the new technology -- in the same way computers get outdated.

I'm really glad that SNM is staying on top of technology. I think it's great.

So the disks may not be defective at all, but rather the older players just cannot handle the new technology.

Thanks SNM -- you're doing an awesome job, as usual. :)

I think you have to look at the equipment. I have a brand new RCA DVD player but only paid $70 for it (relatively new, I bought it at the beginning of this year). My MTV Pilates Mix DVD will not play clearly in this DVD player, the colors fade in and out and it gets fuzzy at regular intervals. It plays just fine in my daughter's DVD player (which is older than mine) and it also plays fine on my portable AudioVox DVD player.

The CardioKicks DVD I loaned to my SIL freezes up on her player but plays without a hitch on mine.

I, too, have experienced freezing on three of the DVDs. It is short however. Maybe 10 seconds or so. Then the DVDs carry on without incident. I have a relatively new Sony player. Although annoying, the freeze isn't a major problem - it just gives me an extra second to catch my breath.

Just to update - I have freezing on the three DVDs discussed - Drill Max, Low Impact Cardio and Butts and Guts. My Drill Max freeze corrects itself after approximately 1 minute - unfortunately, it's smack in the middle of a cardio drill. The LIC and B&G freezes do not correct.

My player is a Samsung. I checked the online tech support and it is able to play dual layered DVDs.

We have seen the same and are looking into this. The problem affects some players while others are freeze free. The test players we use to check the DVDs had no problems with freezing. But after getting some reports from customers of a freezing problem we started testing on as many players as we could. We even have had our employees testing the disc on their players at home today. What we have seen disturbs us greatly. We have now seen several players that have the same reported problem of freezing.
Though we have seen many players that don't have a freezing issue with the new DVDs in our sample so far...we have seen too many that do. Something is definitely not right and we’re trying to determine what went wrong and what needs to be done to fix this. We will certainly find the problem and fix it and replace any and all defective DVDs. At this point we don’t know if the problem was caused by the duplicator or the company that did the authoring of the DVDs. Because of the weekend we are not able to consult with the companies and experts we need to. As soon as they’re back to work on Monday we will begin the process of identifying and fixing the problem as quickly as possible. We will keep you updated as we learn more. As for now all we can say is how sorry we are about this and how sick it makes us all feel for the people having problems.

SNM,

We know that you are working hard and we will work hard on using our lifeskills of patience and understanding.:)

SNM,

I greatly appreciate the honesty in admitting that there is a problem and that you are doing your best in quickly rectifying the situation.

I suggest you sticky this post as an FYI so we are all aware (especially those who don't check the forums daily) especially since, in the coming weeks, a lot of us who ordered will be receiving the DVDs.

RE: Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezi...

Cathe I had a Toshiba 5 DVD playe and my Low Impact Circuit froze during the tricep extension section. It froze consistently on this player. However I did take the DVD to another player and it played fine. So there is definately a relationship between the DVD and player.

I am having this problem with Butts & Guts. It froze just when Cathe finishes doing the floor glute work. It did start back up 20 seconds later and didn't do it again. My player is new too.

Well I've been spending my entire weekend previewing all 4 dvds. On every single one I have freezing problems. I even checked in the Chapter & Mix & Match features thinking the entire workout would work this way. Nope! I was so desperate to do a workout I did Drill Max & just skipped over Drill #4 cardio where it freezes. I hope I'm not destined to skip over segments of these workouts.

I had tried my fairly new 5 disc dvd player to see if the freezing happens. You guessed it!!! It freezes in the exact same spots on all 4 dvds. These are 2 completely different dvd players.

I can't tell you how frustrating it is to wait over a year for the product & have this happen. I hope that once Chris speaks to SONY on Monday these dvds will be replaced. If not, I don't plan on buying from SNM ever again. I've been a Cathe follower for 15 years. I have ALL of her products. Let's face it, its only 4 dvds that we purchased. Couldn't they give us stellar products?

All we can do now is wait unti Monday to find out what happens.

I'm sure not a happy camper!!!!x( Kathy

PS: Thanks SNM for keeping us updated & for you realizing that there is a problem. I just had to vent.

I just wanted to thank SNM for all your efforts. I've been a customer for a looooooooong time and I couldn't expect any less. I will wait patiently for an answer.

It's nice to see a company that is willing to admit there is a problem. I am trying out another new workout on my newest DVD player tomorrow and hopefully it will be freeze-free. If not, at least I know you will fix the problem and hopefully replace the bad DVD's. Even with the freezing problem, these workouts are very good and worth the long wait and even the glitches.

Thanks Cathe!

RE: Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezi...

HI Cathe,
I just wanted to say that I live in Australia and for 15 years I only had one firm workout & two Kathy Smith workouts and a Kari Anderson step workout to use:-( but then last year I discovered the internet & your site and I have been in workout heaven since!!Sometimes I have trouble deciding which workout to do!!So please know that you are very much appreciated!!;) I found this little saying ,I hope it gives you cheer as you are sorting through this current hiccup( Darn that Murphys Law!! and pardon the pun!!), and please know that we all know things never run as smoothly as we would like but it is at these times that our true nature shines through and you are a truly shining!!

" You presence is a present to the world
Your unique and one of a kind
Your life can be what you want it to be
Take the days just one at a time.
Count your blessings, not your troubles
You'll make it through, whatever comes along
Within you are so many answers
Understand , have courage, be strong
Realize that it's never too late
Do ordinary things in an extra ordinary way ( which you do!!)
Have health and hope and happiness
Take the time to wish upon a star
And don't ever forget... for even a day....
How VERY SPECIAL YOU ARE"

RE: Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezi...

I received my DVD's today. I only had time on break to preview a small amount. I went straight to Cardio #4 on DM where others were having problems, no freezing whatsoever. I have a new RCA DVD player I bought this year. I will preview more later and report.
