I have a Sony DVP-NS575P, at least that is the numbers on the front. The instruction manual is for DVP-S530D and DVP-S535P. It plays both CDs and DVDs. Page 4 of the manual lists the type of discs it plays, plus there is a disclaimer at the bottom:

"Some playback operations of DVDs and VIDEO CDs may be intentionally fixed by software producers. Since this player plays DVDs and VIDEO CDs according to the disc contents the software producers designed, some playback features may not be available. Also refer to the instructions supplied with the DVDs or VIDEO CDs"

Not sure what all that means.

I get my CATHE DVDs tomorrow, and when I get time to test them, I will report if they freeze or not. I have never had issues before with Cathe DVDs on this player, so am hopeful that I won't this time.

edited to add link, this is my player:

edited to add again:

The reviews on that site say it is not good on a large TV..mine is a 38 inch TV, and it is fine for me. It does the job.
;) :D :D

Jane! If you don't mind me asking how much was your RCA player & what model is it? Just in case I have to upgrade my own player. I have freezing on all 4. TIA, Kathy:D

RE: Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezi...

Just a comment for the people who are having the freeze ups...when this happens to me with any dvd instead of FF hit stop and then play again and the dvd should start where it froze and you won't lose any footage.

I have some Cathe dvd's that will not play in my regular player but if I hook up one of our portable players to the tv they will play fine in that one so...it's definitely a crap shoot. I have this issue with other dvd's not just Cathe workouts. Always a good idea to keep one of those small portables handy for just those occassion's. Oddly enough, I've never put a dvd in any of our portable players and had them freeze so the portables must use different technology.

I too have a Polaroid portable that has no issues.

Kathy - it is an RCA DRC245NTV. I had posted earlier that I had paid about $70 for it, couldn't remember exactly so I dug up my receipt. I paid $49.86 plus tax - WalMart.

I have only checked cardio #4 of DM, haven't had a chance yet to do any more. I hope to do some more screening tonight, I'll let you know.

I just checked the lying tricep extension segment on LIC since this was another place it was freezing on other's DVD's. No freezing seen. I am going to start screening the DVD's in their entirety now but so far I am having no problems with freezing where others are.

HOORAY for JANES DVD's!!!!!!!!!! Doing the wave~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

RE: Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezi...

Thanks for the suggestion, I wish it had worked! I have a Panasonic and it froze on LIC during the lying extensions, like everyone else. I haven't looked at the other DVD's yet since I just got them today! Incidentally I love the workout but I just can't hold the lying extensions any longer...... :)

So far, I've also had no freezing. I use a Go Video DVD/VCR combo for my workouts and am now checking my Emerson DVD/VCR - hopefully I won't have any problem with this one either. I'm loving the workouts so far!

I just got mine today, and tried Body Max 2. It freezes a bit after the beginning of the 4th step combo completely and I can't fast forward past the freeze without skipping the entire chapter. I have a Pioneer, and have never had any problems with any other Cathe dvd's.

RE: Not to scare anyone but there are reports of freezi...

I have finally reviewed Body Max 2, and it freezes for 20 seconds in power circuit # 2, right before squats, and in power circuit #4, right at the beginning. It also skipps for a second at the end of power circuit #2. I have had the same freezing on the other 3 discs, as others reported. I think it is my player, which is a Sony DVD, VHS player, only 2 years old, but interestingly, all my other Cathe dvd's are fine?

Anyway, these workout are so well done, I am in awe, and would buy anything Cathe puts out! :+

Ann Marie Thanks SNM for staying on top of this
