Non-video fitness activities for getting in shape?

What activities have you done that have gotten you into really good shape? I've been having trouble working out consistently and am thinking that taking up something like martial arts, dance, tennis, etc. would be a good idea (and perhaps keep me from yo-yo-ing the same 8 pounds all the time..!) Any recommendations?
 
I don't know what the weather is like where you live but my favorite non-vid activity is hiking!! Of course, I'm in Tucson where we are surrounded by national parks and hiking trails and have beautiful weather..... :cool:
 
Jogging seems to be the fastest way to get slimmer, you might try a running club. Hula dancing makes for really fit thighs/butt area.
 
Ah, spring and summer-- love it-- so great to get outdoors. In fact, my main inspiration for carrying on video workouts in the dead of winter is so that I will maintain fitness for outdoor activities.
I loooove hiking-- our summer vacations are usually based on hiking.
Tennis is so fun. I pretty much suck, but man oh man-- when I start again I so feel it in the butt-- all that getting low. It is just a fun time.
Biking-- I like biking and have gotten some baskets so I can commute to the grocery store this way. I'm not in love with biking like some people though, but my husband and I go for bike rides a few times a week and I love its efficiency for short trips.
I really like swimming laps outdoors, but I wish it was something you could just go and do like running-- it involves more prep, that is for sure.
Running--when you want to get outside and work out without having to do much but put on your shorts and lace up your running shoes.
How can I forget? I love inline skating.
