********No Sweets Week of March 2********

Lori, my doc sounds very much like yours. She is a fairly new textbook doc and only has one child and he of course was a prodigy, so when Logan was 18 months and not speaking a whole lot she wanted to get him into speech classes immediately. He didn't start talking until he was around 3 (Mariah was 3, Layne was 18 mo), but I really wasn't worried about it because of when Mariah spoke and he has a much older sister who babies him constantly. All he would have to do is point and she would get something for him. He learned to be lazy because there was someone who would do things for him and he did EVERYTHING later than my older two. I can't tell you how frustrating that was! I didn't take doc's advice and now Logan is almost 4 and is doing fine. He is just a big snuggle bug who is one of the greatest manipulators and charmers on the planet, despite my efforts to bring him up differently. And Mariah did NOT tell me about that! That is too funny. She is totally into chatting with anyone because it makes her feel so grown up. She is at that age, Lori!

Alicia, you play soccer? How fun! I was going to join a league with a friend this spring, but now she is pregnant and I am too chicken to join on my own because I have never played before.

Catherine, if you only had 5 doritos, they don't count ;)

Affirm, way to go "small", don't know if I could do that with cake.

Well, I am starting day #5 of NO SUGAR! I love it, but I have to admit that the only thing really keeping me back is the fact that I know I will have to tell you all about it. I wish I could say that it was because I had incredibly self control and discipline. But if I said that I would be a liar!!! :p This am I'm doing HSChallenge... I haven't done it in at least a year! This is my first weight workout since before Thanksgiving, so if I can't type anything don't be worried - I will just be lying in bed wishing I could move.

It looks like everyone is doing great! WOOHOO for us!!!

Hey Ladies,

Tough day today, DS has pneumonia and diarrhea. Poor kid had two accident while we were out. Lots of stress so broke down and had two small squares of 88% dark chocolate sweetened with beet sugar. But again that's a health food right? Now I just need to make sure I stop there and don't eat anymore.

Did CC3 4 this morning.

Linda

T-56 days and counting.....

Hey ladies. It was a rest day for me today, but after reading about your workouts I got inspired yesterday and did an 80 min low impact cardio. It was a combination of Low Max blasts and Kick Max low impact premix. My cheat day was also yesterday. I went out with some friends and I didn't want to be the only one without eating something sweet so I had some dessert. Just that. However, I don't know if any of you do this but sometimes I start to replace sweets with salty snacks. That's also bad. It's substituting one type of junk food for another. I did my usual Thursday weigh-in today and it was surprising. I lost two pounds in four days. I've been on a plateau for months. Doc said 115-120 should be my weight and I was 126ish. So I'm almost there I guess. I'm thinking that it would be easier for me to attempt pull-ups by the time STS is done if I lose those last few pounds, but I'm not losing sleep over it. I'll keep on eating healthy (controlling what I eat and writing in my food journal) and exercising a little bit more during the week (2-3 days a week won't do it :p) We'll see.

Alicia - I always bring healthy snacks to work. Just in case someone has a birthday and they bring cake or something like that. By the way, I think chocolate soy milk has a lot of sugar. I don't know which brand do you get but they're usually high in sugar. Delicious, but sugary. There are non-sugar options but not as tasty. I drink Silk (original or vanilla), but just a little bit with my cereal in the morning.

Affirm - It's so nice to see you back! I'm so glad your basement is done.

Catherine - lol! 5 Doritos! I count them too. Yesterday I had 16 peanuts. Ha ha ha too funny! I better stop substituting sugar with salt.

Delfin - I love GS! I find it hard to believe that Cathe will top that one but STS is looking very good so far.

Lori - I guess your body will drop down to whatever weight is the healthiest for your frame. I'd never thought I'd be under 135 so when my doctor told me your weight should be 115-120 I told him that it would be almost impossible to get there. This week I've been eating tons of oranges and I'm thinking I lost water weight because of the potassium (maybe I was retaining water before?) Also, it's so weird but when I start lifting heavy I start losing again instead of gaining weight. My body acts so strange sometimes.

Maggie - I hope you enjoy your cheat day when you finally pick one. Just don't get too carried away. :)

Missy - Congratulations on your fifth day without sugar. I think that you start disliking sweets after awhile and when you have a cheat day you eat less.

Linda - I hope DS feels better soon! My problem with dark chocolate is that I can't have just one bite. By the time I'm satisfied I've eaten hundreds of calories. That's why I avoid it. I love it way too much.

oh my! The week is almost over yay!

Linda** Glad we helped you get that workout in! LOL

Missy** Day 5 with no sugar? I haven't been that good! I have to have a little treat or a may fall off the wagon and binge! Im just glad that I am motoring through the day and not even thinking about sweets! That in itself is an accomplishment!

SHewolf** So sorry to hear about DD, I hope she feels better today!

My eating was good again yesterday but I did have a small peice of dessert!
I will be back later!
Lori:)

Linda - I am so sorry about DS; how old is he? I sure hope that he feels better soon. I sure hate it when mine are sick and there isn't a whole lot I can do for them.

Rose - congrats on the surprising weight loss! I try to replace sweets for fruit. Sometimes I find it a surprisingly wonderful substitute and find is satisfying, and sometimes I am totally repulsed by the thought of eating it and realize that I wasn't even hungry in the first place, I was just addicted to the sweet stuff.

Lori - What crazy put-us-all-to-shame workout is on the agenda for today?

I didn't have any sugar yesterday. So I am starting on Day 6!!! There was a box of cookies sitting on my counter and I didn't touch them. I am so proud of myself! I had a pounding headache last night that I can only assume is from withdrawal. I don't think that I will be able to even have a nibble of something sweet because I really can't control it once I stop. I won't be able to have a cheat day until it is all out of my system and I don't crave it at all anymore. I don't know if it is like this for the rest of you (maybe someone mentioned it but I forgot or overlooked it) but when I am not eating sugar I tend to eat less of everything and have better control over my portions. That wasn't a goal of going sugar free, it just sort of happened and I have to say that it is a great side benefit! I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but my teeth actually feel cleaner, too. Well, not that anyone has been licking my teeth, but have you noticed your teeth are cleaner, too?

I hope that is that start to great weekend for everyone! TTYL

Catherine** I am almost 5'4" but I always say 5'4";) People think I am taller then that probably b/c I always higher boots, i very rarely wear sneaks. Thanks for your compliment!:)

Missy** I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! Now that I have been watching my sugar, I am watching everything else!:) I feel like I am in control again. I got into this terrible habit of baking things, and instead of eating just one cookie, I would stand there, cutting the edges of every fu&*ing cookie! In my mind it was o.k b/c I never really ate a full cookie but it reality I probably ate 4-5 cookies. Some of the cookies were pretty tiny once I had finished cutting the edges off! LOL The brownies I have in the fridge haven't been touched in a couple of days and the last night I was hungry at work and thought about cutting the edges off of some cookies...cause you know..its only the edges! LOL But I didn't do it! Ive only been watching what I have eaten for 4 days and I can see a dif already. The bloat in my belly is gone and I feel slim around the middle again! Alot of it may be in my mind, but I don't care! Whatever makes me feel better!

Have to go pick up my darling son. This is the first time I have gotten up from a nap and didn't rush out the door to go get him. He is sooo excited when I pick him up!

Lori:)

Morning Ladies,

I managed to stay away from the sweets the rest of the day although I did eat a bit too much last night. really have to stop doing that!

Today was full body heavy weight work.

Rose That's usually my problem too with the dark chocolate. I won't stop and next thing I know I'll have had hundreds of extra calories I didn't need.

[b[Missy[/b] - DS is six. It's very hard to watch him suffer. I wish I could say I was the same as you and that I started watching everything, but alas, I am picking to try and stop from eating the sweets. I really need to stop. I hate the detox headaches, they're the worst!

Catherine The chocolate i get is the Endandered Species brand and I get it from a copule of local health food stores and one supermarket (Shoprite). Here are the ingredients: Dark Chocolate (cocoa mass, water- filtered beet sugar, soy lecithin and natural vanilla), cocoa mass chips. Can't get much more simple than that. Also, 10% of their net profits are donated to help support species, habitat and humanity. And they are 100% ethically traded, supporting small family-owned cocoa properties. What's not to love!

Lori - sounds like you are doing geeat!

Have a great sweet free day!

Linda

Hey Ladies!

I have to come clean. I guess yesterday ended up being my unplanned cheat day. The cold finally caught up with me and I was told by my boss to go home and rest (apparently I wasn't looking so good). I skipped my workout, had 10 chocolate covered raisins and two grand marnier filled chocolates after dinner and went to bed at 8:00. Feel soooo much better today! It's date day and DH and I are going out to our favorite sushi place so I should be able to keep my eating under control there, but will have some wine:7
Ok I feel much better now that I came clean. I told DH last night that I'll have to tell you guys because the guilt is eating me up, he just laughed at me!
Eating today has been good so far - no sweets! Tomorrow is a new day and I plan to make up for my lack of exercise in the last two days.

Great to hear everyone is doing well!

Maggie

Maggie, enjoy your dinner and your wine!! Glad you are feeling better!!

I finally got off my tushie and worked out LOL!! I was feeling rather lazy today. But I PR'd on my bench press **does the happy dance** I benched 90# for 4 sets:5,4,4,& 3 then finished with 85# for 1 set of 5. Making steady gradual progress with my wts and I am super excited!!

Hello Everyone!
Well- today and the rest of the weekend we are expecting a lot of snow. It's been nasty already. By sunday, we are forcasted to get about 12 - 14 inches of snow! YUCK !!!! Maybe I'll go crosscountry skiing tom.

Rose - Great job on your weight loss!! That is awesome. I'd love to loose those last 5 pounds. I've been working harder on it. I know a lot of it is the portion sizes for me. This forum, has been great for me. Its really held me accountable! Like you, writing down what I eat helps me. I think your right about the choc. soy milk. Thank goodness, Its all gone (bought only a 1 liter).

Missy - yep I play soccer. Alot of it too. I've been playing since I was 5. Played all thru high school and college. I play on a few different leagues. It is so much fun, and a great wo. Its pretty competitive. Alot of the girls, are younger than me, just out of college or still in college. But, I love that I can still beat some of them (insert devilish laugh). (I'm extrem. competitive...DH keeps reminding me I'm not in the world cup! I can imagine though...right?) If you decide to play, just find the right league for your skill level. I'm sure you will do fine. Esp. if you've been doing Cathe.

Lori - gotta say too - your pics look great!!

Maggie - hope you are feeling better! That is great that you and DH have date night! Ditto - on having to run back to the forums to "post" on how your doing!

Well - before I loose my eagerness to wo (Bootcamp - full body today), I will get going-

Great Job everyone!! Keep it up-
ALicia
:)

Phew! This is getting long. Now that there are a few more members should we start a new one everyday?

Yesterdays eating was good again! I haven't cut out sugar altogether but I do make it till dinner before I have a little something sweet. DH also brought home some bars last night and I didn't open them!

Todays workout was HSC and a 6 mile run!
Weight is 120.2....thats a 4.1 lbs drop in 5 days:) Im sure its all water weight but I feel good! Bloating is gone and stomach is flat again. See what stupid sugar can do to ya???

Lori:)

Maggie, I love chocolate covered raisins!!! That is definitely a worthy treat!

Today was Body Max 2 cardio only.

Lori- I agree, I think we need to a everyday check in, since this one now so busy. It's getting to hard to read. Also, love your new avatar! Is that a workout top your wearing? If so who makes it, it's so cute?

Linda

GOOD MORNING LADIES! Daylight savings. yeah. I am so excited. What is the point of it anyways?

Catherine, We missed the snow here (Indy, IN) by only about 30 miles. 30 miles to the east got almost 5", 30 to the south almost 6" and we got NOTHING. This has been the strangest winter I can remember for a long time. The kids are disappointed that they didn't get to go sledding this winter but for a couple of days.

Mag, why do our DHs think that it is funny when we show signs of conscience? I do love my husband, but sometimes I think that is a sign of who is the more intelligent being. The animals got smarter in the order they were created and God made women last, right? ;)

Alicia, did you go cc skiing? I have never been and that sounds like fun! Thanks for the pep talk! :)

Lori, 4 lbs in 5 days!!! WOW! So that is what it is doing to me, too. (don't have a scale) I definitely feel less bloated, but had no idea that I could be losing that much retention. I used to have a nice little chiseled stomach and since I have allowed myself to go crazy with cake and other yummy stuff I have a nice little muffin top going on with the waist of my jeans. I have never had that before this year and I know it is my eating. I can't wait to have it gone!!! I am also on board with the everyday check-in.

Well, I had chocolate yesterday... but only about the chocolate that fell off of the kids' ice cream bars! That didn't even constitute for one whole piece of chocolate, but I still feel guilty because I was doing so well. I almost made it a full 7 days, shoot! But I didn't eat anything else naughty! :) I must have messed up because I didn't check in yesterday morning.
I did LIC yesterday and I did a 3 mile interval run on the TM w/ abs on Friday. Today is my rest day and I think that DH and I will spend the whole day vegging out watching movies. We make use out of our Netflix! I love that service!!! :D

Here is to a sweet free, happy day!

Missy
