No Phone Zone for me!

Well, I signed up on Oprah.com for the no phone zone while driving. I admit I do it, I admit it's unsafe as hell, and I need to be a better role model for my teenager who will be driving in a couple years.

If you didn't see the show, you can watch a video clip on oprah.com of families who have lost loved ones due to senseless texting while driving.

So, my phone is off the hook while I'm behind the wheel. This is going to be hard for me as I am totally a multitasker - but, I'm doing to do my damndest!

Just sayin':)

Good for you Heidi!......I signed it too. a few months back! That show effected me big time.....I even posted the sign in my car. I get lots of comments on it.......;)

I mean this without any snarkiness and with total gratitude: Thank you! I have been hit, side swiped, had to slam on the brakes when others pull out in front of me and almost ran off of the road a few times by people who are talking on their cell phones while they were driving. My kids were in the car with me when I was rear ended at a stop-light and the driver destroyed the rear end of my car because she didn't even notice the light - I was so afraid that they were hurt, and that is the most horrible feeling in the world! My husband has hit people while he was phoning and driving (he isn't signing anything, and he certainly won't listen to Oprah - grrrr!) Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! It means so much that there are people who want to be safer drivers and don't think they they are invincible and perfect drivers no matter what they are doing!!! :D:D:D (I guess I need to sign a "Don't Make Lists in You Head While Driving" pledge! :p)

You guys are pure AWESOMENESS!!!

That is great! I never did drive and talk at the same time because I know that I simply can't concentrate on both. I wish more people would stop doing this. People have pulled out in front of me time and time again because they were on their phone and didn;t even see me.

You are right about texting while driving is a bad influence for your daughter. My son will be driving in a few months, and he is like a in-car driving cop. He always tells me what I'm doing wrong. Drives me crazy but at least he does know. I know I've got to better so it'll help him do the right thing naturally.

Right now, I keep my phone in my purse behind my seat so I can't even reach the phone. This really helps me.

No need for me...

I don't need to sign up -- I don't talk and drive or text and drive.

It's really not because I have great self-control; it's just that I can't see well enough without my reading glasses to dial or text! :D

But seriously, it is very dangerous -- even using a hands-free device.

Keeping it in your purse is an excellent idea! I've done great. Received a text yesterday and went to reach for it and then reminded myself NO! I really wish more people would adhere to it. I know Oprah is controversial but I am glad she is spearheading this particular platform - she brings it up at every show, and even asks all her guests if they are "in". Props to Oprah.
