No energy!

The last week I have felt like I have absolutely no energy. I just got back from Cancun and every since, I feel like I have extreme jetlag (when there's only an hour time difference). What helps you when you feel this way? I seriously could fall asleep if I laid down. :(

I don't know if it's possible to get jet lag from a one-hour flight, but I do think travel can be tiring on the body. It could also partly be post-vacation letdown. (I get that! It usually takes me at least a week to unpack and sort myself out. :p) But I always try to just listen to my body. If I'm coming back from an overseas trip (which means a long flight) or a particularly active trip, I'll usually give myself a day or two to just rest and return to normal. So I'd say get some extra zzz's if you need them, and maybe try for a few light workouts - yoga or walking to ease back into the flow of things.

Thanks for the input! You don't usually hear "get more zzzz's". I have been sleeping like a log, taking it easy, walking around the neighborhood and finally I feel a lot better. It's wierd how you can get so tired after a vacation. Thanks for replying. :)

heidisue,

from the looks of your avatar you have more then vacation wearing you out LOL. i try to go with shorter workouts myself. i have all of the ten min. solution dvds except one(the beginners one, i can't wait for amy bento's to come out too). i will program 3-4 segments but know i can stop when i just feel i can't do that much and it doesn't bother me as much as say like if i popped in a cathe or amy but can only do 10 mins. i would feel bad stopping partial way. short walks usually help me ease back into it even though i am tired. the fresh air always perks me up too, even if its the only "cardio" i get.

Sometimes right before my period I get exhausted. I find that a multivitamin helps. Maybe it's just psycological, but it seems to work

For some reason, when I used to travel a lot, I always felt depleted of energy and in need of sleep. It usually took me a week to recover.

I am not one to party and stay out late anyway - since I dated a guy who played in a band in the 70's, I got my fill of clubs.

I probably would still go to an occasional club if I could stand the smoke and could get to feeling a bit better. I love to dance and I love techno music.

I was in South Beach in early March of this year and despite no time change, I was worn out when I got home.

I did not go out into the direct sun and did mostly family-oriented activities.

I did Parasail, which was a blast.

I think I was out late only one night and that was to go to the open air mall (which was fun, fun, fun).

But when I got home, I was really tired.

Just listen to your body and rest. I don't know if it the excitement of travel or just a change in routine, but I think a lot of people experience energy depletion after a big trip.

Amy,
I agree that travel (the getting-there part) can be stressful in and of itself. Plus, the quality of the air on the plane isn't the greatest, and if you're in coach, you're also going to be somewhat cramped. (I'm only 5'5 - I don't know how the tall folks do it!) Just as very active vacations can tire one out, I think low-key, laze-around vacations (esp. if in the sun) can also put you in that mode where it is hard to come back to reality.
