Nickelback...

DH saw The Tragically Hip live in Syracuse when he was in high school---he still talks about it:7

World Container is amazing---add to list!

I'm going to see the Hip in April in Clifton Park, NY!! Woohoo! Both of the Burlington, VT shows got sold out.

I saw them play at Sugarbush ski area during their Phantom Power tour, it was a bit of a mud-fest, but a fun mud-fest.

ARCADE FIRE WOOOOO-HOOOOOO!(don't they look great in my avatar?)

Thank god I have my own office...if I had to listen to that crap at work, I think I'd have to quit.

My former boss LOVES Nickelback!(DH says they're called that because if it cost five cents to see them, you'd want your "nickel back") She also loves Sugarland, John Mayer, and, jeez, what is that horrible band...twangy nasaly voiced lead singer --- "What hurts the most.." (my friggin' eardrums, buddy) Damn, who is it? Anyway, she came in crying one morning and when I asked why, she said it was because she had been listening to a song by whoever-the-heck they are on the radio. Yeah, I'd be crying, too.

Can you wear an iPod at work, Shelly? Or maybe just stream a radio station on the internet and stick some headphones on...I'm listening to kexp.org from Seattle as we speak...just heard New Order; Flaming Lips,Deerhunter, AND Arcade Fire. I'm guaranteed that I'll never hear Nickleback on that station. (I do think I'm going to write them a request to play Elliot Yamin on April Fool's Day--he's my hometown star that I'm so sick of seeing all over the local paper...he is, indeed, my Nickleback.)

Sorry, I digress...I really am very sorry for you plight. .

Rascal Flatts!!!! That's the other horrible band...great, now I can't stop thinking about that stupid song. I think I'm going to cry:-( :-( :-(

Dammit, TeTe! Now I'm going to cry! And vomit!

STOP IT!!!! Okay, I'm sorry!!!!!! and I can SEE them, too. Especially that round-faced lead singer with the spikey pseudo-new wave'do.

OH GOD, it's just too much to take.

*sprints in*

Yells, I like Nickelback! PHHHHHHHHBT.

*moons crowd. sprints out*

ditto to above..............especially the Long Road and All the Right Reasons CD......but I only started liking them after I heard the songs that DON'T get played on the radio!!

I thought this was a "love for Nickelback" thread. It surprised me!! That's what makes the world go round........we're all unique!

Nickelbackers unite. Descent upon Shelley & said backups. AIYEEEEEEEEEE!

*sings* Hands on the mirror, can't get much clearer....

I think I would be classified as a music whore. I listen to whatever I am in a mood for. Just this afternoon I was unashamedly shaking my booty to Ice Cube's "Put Your Back in To It". http://www.smileyhut.com/music/dance.gif

I like Nickelback, Alanis M., and Jan Arden. I think the Tragically Hip are incredible poets. I love to sing along with Sarah Harmer AND Madonna. Eminem is snuck in when the kids aren't around. Oh, and THANK YOU CATHE for reminding me about Rick Springfield and Jesse's Girl - that's been added to MP3.

I have been know to rock with http://www.smileyhut.com/hair/kiss.gif.

What about Metallica? http://www.smileyhut.com/music/punk.gif I have a hard time deciding if I liked their concert best or Peter Gabriel's?

It's like food - sometimes I want to dine at the 5 star and sometimes I just want to go to Subway.

I guess I just have no standards - LOL!

I have a couple of their cds on my iPod and yeah...they are very "same ol' - same ol'" But my 6 year old daughter loves them! Especially since one of their songs showed up on Kid's Bop.

Went to see my FAVORITE Canadian artist on Tuesday night. Bruce Cockburn. What an excellent guy.

I'm jealous of anyone who gets to see the Hip. I'm determined to see them one of these times they come around.

Corrie - don't like Metallica at all.

TeTe - I do occasionally stream my radio station (which is Edge 102 in Toronto). I like it when Alexisonfire drowns out Whitney Houston. It makes me very happy:)

Another Bruce Cockburn fan, here.

When our cat, Borrego, was diagnosed with cancer, I had just gotten Cockburn's "Breakfast In New Orleans, Dinner In Timbuktu" cd. I put it on, held Borrego like a baby (he loved that) and listened to "Last Night of the World."

"I've seen the flame of hope among the hopeless
And that was truly the biggest heartbreak of all
That was the straw that broke me open

If this were the last night of the world
What would I do?
What would I do that was different
Unless it was champagne with you?"

I need to pull that cd out...thanks for reminding me of him (and Borrego), Donna!

He opened the show with that one. Just him and his 4 guitars. We hung around after the show and he came out to sign autographs. I got one for myself and one for my daughter. Eventually she will be old enough to appreciate him. Especially since it's on the back of a Cracker Jack tattoo.

Got to talk to him a little bit about my favorite song of his - Pacing the Cage. And he talked a little bit about his granddaughter. How cool would that be to say, "My grampa is the Canadian Bob Dylan"?
