I have fell in love with many of Cathe's strength training DVD's and thought I would try the Step workouts. I bought Step, Jump and Pump and Step Blast. However I have NEVER done any step workouts before. I thought I would start with the 31 minute premix from SB....it is very complicated!!! Although it looks like if you can do it it would be an excellent workout. What dvd's do you recommend to a newbie to step to learn the moves?

New to Step suggestion

I would recommend the DVD by Gin Miller called Everybody Steps. She takes it slow enough to master the basic moves.

HTH,

I still have not mastered Cathe and the step. I can do her low impact ones, but beyond that....I get very lost!!!

I would say stick with it and try Cathe's Basic Step too. The first time I did Basic Step I thought there was no way I would be able to do it. I pulled it back out a month later determined to conquer, and I did. Then I started doing all her workouts on FitTV with the same attitude. I'm so glad I stuck with Cathe because there ain't no going back for me. Step Blast is a fun, fun, fun step workout. The Challenge is tough so maybe save that for once you have conquered the rest of the DVD.

Basic Step will help you become familiar with Cathe's choreography. Try just watching it through once as Cathe recommends, that helps with the more intricate footwork. It will get easier, trust me. The first time I tried Step Blast and Rhythmic Step I kind of just hopped around looking lost, but after about the third time I could keep up. I can't "exercise" due to surgery and am watching some of those that give me a harder time as I walk on the treadmill. Good Luck, hope I helped!!

I'd recommend Low Impact Step. So long as you're getting a good workout don't worry about not getting the steps just right, they will come with practice.

This Web site helped me learn some moves that were harder than others: http://www.turnstep.com/Moves/

When things get really difficult I have to view small pieces at a time, over and over learning them bit by bit. Then it's not a workout, it's just work and takes some of the fun away. I have a lot of Cathe's step and so far only 4DS High Intensity Step falls into this category.

Don't give up!

Just stay with it and eventually you will catch on. Some of her choreography is difficult and a little tricky. Also, I've had to play some parts back a few times before I was able to catch on. Cathe's dvd's are challenge. New things take time to learn.

You will do it, just wait and see!
