Hello all- Hope someone can help me out with a video selection. I have been working out forever - videos, and home gym. I am 54 (how did that happen?) I consider myself in good shape but not advanced. I'd like to try a Cathe workout for strength (no cardio) I am mostly concerned with building bone mass so I'd like to focus on back and legs but of course need work upper body too. I've looked thru her videos and most seem too advanced for me, but i'd like to progress as much as possible..I love to work out and get strong. any suggestions? thanks a bunch,
Deb

Hi Deb,

From one newbie to another..Welcome! I think the Cathe workouts offer a good variety. The most challenging thing for me when I first started strength training with Cathe wasn't the exercises, it was the reps. Most of the workouts I did before Cathe only did one or two sets. Cathe at least doubles that so I often found myself wondering when the torture was going to end :). It took some getting used to especially when she has a habit of referring to "reps" as "sets"

My personal favorite Cathe strength training workout is Power Hour. It uses barbells and dumbells and I think if you just modify the weights you use for your comfort and fitness level, you can do just about any workout. It is a total body workout and I prefer that over focusing on certain body parts on certain days. There is absolutely no cardio in it. Even the warm up is weights, albeit lighter than you would use for the rest of the workout. I started Power Hour just using the bar with no weight on it and 5 pound dumbbells. Sometimes, I did the entire workout with just the dumbbells. I've been able to increase the weights over time.

Have you watched the video clips for each workout? I decided to get into more of the step workouts and found that watching the clips helped me pick more of a beginner (relatively) type workout. Good Luck!
