New Runners December 2009

No workout for me today either (or yesterday for that matter). We had to take dad to the hospital on Saturday evening (by ambulance) because he had a fever and was not responsive. He is fine and will be going home tomorrow. Apparently fevers are part of dementia. They are going to remove all his tubes today and try to get him up and walking. If he can't walk we will probably be getting a hospital bed and then care for him will change again. Right now it's all up in the air.

So....working out is on hold for now. I'm trying to eat very good since I can't workout.

Jane ~ I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he recovers as best he can. Let us know how its going. ((HUGS))

Cindi ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Alisha ~ How did today's challenge go? I hope being so prepared helped you resist the many temptations the city has to offer.

Tricia ~ How was IMAX?

I did CC V8 today. I ran on the road with all three dogs onleash so it was a little bit of a circus. We are staying at Andy's family now and so are running in an unfamiliar area with lots of loose or penned dogs. We should make it to Hatteras tomorrow morning. I got Gym Style legs for Christmas and I'm excited to try it out - probably on Wednesday or Thursday.

Alisha - I hate when UPS does that! I'll be checking a package and it will appear to go nowhere, then, out of the blue, it's here! I think it depends on if there is a stop where the package gets scanned again! Hope it gets to you really soon!

Cindi - CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU! That's so exciting! So, what is the goal for 2010?

Jane - I'm so sorry to hear about your father! My prayers are with you and your family!

Lisa - IMAX was killer! I'm not sure if it's just me or if the tempo is faster! I felt like I was stepping all over myself and I'm an experienced stepper! I loved it though!

I'm on my "rest" week now. Alternating cardio and yoga for the week. We're going rock wall climbing for the first time in quite a while probably tomorrow, so I'll skip the yoga tomorrow. Tonight was Low Max and some abs!

Any other resolutions for 2010 out there?

Thanks Ladies! No mileage goal for 2010. I'm just wanting to finish the marathon May 1 and do my part for the relay in early June. Then I'll see what happens after that.

did FIRM wave workouts yesterday. Today was then new tracie long step workout.

Jane - sorry to hear about your father. :(

I almost forgot to tell you that my DH got me a very nice pair of Brooks cold weather running tights! They are absolutely divine! They are so warm and feel so soft! I could just wear these around, except that I'd broil to death in them indoors! LOL!

Can't wait to get out there and try them out as it gets lighter out in the evenings!

Hi Everyone!

No workouts for me tonight. My dad is being released from the hospital today and he has been approved for hospice. They are giving us a 90 day probation period as he is on the borderline. Hospice will be bringing by a hospital bed tomorrow so we need to clear some space for that.

I'm hoping that I will be able to workout Wednesday and the rest of the week. If so, I will probably go running on Wednesday even though it has been a bit chilly here. I miss running and working out.

Tricia ~ Enjoy your running tights!! No resolutions for me right now. I guess the only resolution is to keep eating healthy and get in as many workouts as I can. I don't know if having hospice will lighten my load or not. I'm not sure of their schedule and what they will do.

Lisa ~ Gym Style Legs is fantastic!!! It's long but very, very tough but in a good way. Enjoy!!

Alisha ~ Hope you get Shock Cardio soon! I've only done a couple of workouts but I like them so far.

Cindi ~ Keep runnin' girl!!

I'm so sorry to hear how things are going. :(I hope that it gets better. We don't care if you can't get to a workout, you can always check in with us btw.;)

They came!

The STS Cardio discs finally arrived yesterday while I was in San Francisco. I'm previewing Step Moves before I go to work (in about 15 minutes.)

Cindi- Congrats on crossing the 1000 mile mark.

Jane- So sorry about your Dad.:(

Lisa- Today’s challenge was mostly ok. I did take my eats but didn’t need to eat them after all. I did have one snack cake from a Japanese dessert shop. It was only 40 grams of carbs so its probably ok. I had the warm vegetable salad with chicken for lunch and the shrimp rolls (in rice noodles) for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. Both were about 600 calories each according to the nutrition facts menu. Breakfast was gluten free cereal at home. Overall, I would call that a success. The neat part is I didn’t feel hungry. Yippee! I did not do HIS the other day, the shoulder/exhaustion got the best of me. I did get the yoga in though. I would pay money to see the dog circus doing CC.

Tricia- Only in our odd little world would Low Max qualify as a recovery week workout.

Alisha - LOL! I know! I don't really have much that is less intense! All I have are Cathe workouts! We did go rock wall climbing today! Hopefully, that qualifies! Of course, my upper body was tired by the time we were done! I did notice a bit more upper body strength climbing today! Not much, but a little! Can't wait to see how much better it is after Meso 2 & 3!

I have yoga, but I feel I need to burn some calories! I'm alternating Cathe cardio with yoga so I guess that's a recovery week! Ha, ha! At least I'm not doing any weights!

Congrats on getting your SC! I'm waiting for the digital version in April! I want all your reviews!

Hi ladies,
Today I did CC V1 this morning and then rode a horseback ride this afternoon. I've got another ride tomorrow and maybe an upper body workout in the morning.

Tricia - What fun! I used to love climbing indoors too. Different but still loads of fun. What level do you climb? I always preferred balancy, technical face routes and, of course, bouldering. You should have already burned plenty of calories climbing!

Alisha - I'm glad you did well and feel good about what you ate. There's nothing wrong with eating out if you make good choices. Since I live in a tiny town, eating out is part of the phone for going to town for me. The "dog circus" was a pretty laughable - we had some interesting intervals when we were being followed by loose dogs or there was something that smelled really interesting next to the road. Its funny though, we do enough intervals that my dogs all know "lets go", "hurry hurry" and "walk now" as speed commands.

Jane - Good luck keeping your workouts and eating on track as best you can. (hugs)

Cindi - Hi!

Lisa

Hey Lisa!

I'm still just a beginner! We hadn't been since last spring or so! I stick with the 5.6-5.7 climbs right now! LOL! I made over my first jut yesterday! I usually can't keep my grip and pull myself over because my upper body is so weak! I attribute my success yesterday to Meso 1! That and not having to carry an extra 30 lbs.! The thing is that it wears me out pretty fast! Have to work up the endurance part!

Enjoy your workout today! I'm going shopping for replacement clothes at the outlet mall (Mom sent a gift card for Christmas), then it's home for KPC and hopefully sushi for dinner! One of our attorneys gave the staff gift certificates to a new Japanese restaurant in the City!

Have a great day! Hello to everyone else out there!

I did the cardio premix from 4DS HIS yesterday, that one is so much fun. It just flies. Today is BC cardio premix. I'm doing so many steps and so much camera work I really don't have the strength to do a weighted workout.

Today's eats were ok. Breakfast was gluten free cereal, eggs, and coconut milk, So Delicious. Lunch was a small box of blackberries, a handful of almonds, a cup of strawberry kefir, and 1 square of Godiva chocolate. For dinner, I put a beef roast in the oven with some garlic, hot sauce, oregano and basil. I have an organic tomato soup to serve with it.

I did good, I resist the urge to gorge myself at the Fresh Choice, I love their soups. But, not only am I in a cutting phase but my budget is limited so I of course went shopping instead. I got a new coat at Macy's and a digital food scale from Target on sale for $30. I love sales!

Happy New Year's Eve!!

I got my run in last night. I ran for 35 minutes under the Christmas lights downtown. It was very pretty. Not many people were around.

Tonight it's the following workout:
5 Rounds
100 Jump Rope
15 KB Push Presses
15 Swings
15 Push ups

What is everyone doing tonight/tomorrow?

Tonight I'm just going to chill with some pizza and movies.

Tomorrow I don't know. My sister Mary has banned me and my other sister Jean from going to my parent's house. I haven't had a whole day off in a LONG TIME. All I know is that I'm going to sleep late and workout.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I wound up riding two rides so I didn't get in a formal workout. Today I'm feeling a little tired - battling a cold - so I went for a walk with the dogs and did a little yoga. Tonight we are going out for sushi and then should be in bed by 9. Not too exciting but that's the way we roll :D. I have to feed the horses at the barn tomorrow and will get in a fun-ride if the weather permits.
Lisa

Did not do my workout yesterday, instead I got some GI bug thingy, but I'm feeling better now. I will be back at it tomorrow or maybe this afternoon. I took the day off of work. Good thing, I slept until 11 am.

I expect to finish 4DS this week. I'm not sure what I'm doing next week. I think its ok to do a road run again. We haven't seen the mountain lion in a long time and I haven't smelled it at all. There are others who are going out, an older fella with a dog. I think I'm faster so. . . I should be ok :p I can't use my off road trail until the tree limbs are cleared and we have a crew coming to fix it soon.

Oh did I mention? I ordered CTX and Vol. 1 Classics because I need the extra cardio. I know it seems like over kill but its an early birthday present sort of lol!

I guess next week's rotation will be like this:

Sunday: Road run, intervals, 30 min. Easy yoga, 50 min.
Monday: off
Tuesday: Road jog steady state 60 min. LSB (long slow burn) Stretch max 1
Wednesday: Goddess Workout plus HIIT (the easy one :p )
Thursday: Step Moves
Friday: MMA KB plus core drills
Saturday: Athletic step

Phrases that get me out of bed:
Cathe: Its time to get my game face on!
Sandra Ahten: Grow up!
Scott Smith: Remember how to dream.

Alisha - Sounds like you had a good day yesterday! Keep it up! Sorry you picked up a bug! Hope you feel better!

Jane - Way to go! I think we're going downtown for the fireworks later tonight, but staying in for the most part. I made tamales today for our New Year's dinner. It's my first try, so I hope they are edible!

Lisa - Sushi sounds great to me! An early night isn't such a bad thing, either!

I have been terrible about getting workouts in this week! It's supposed to be my rest week, but really! I've been off from work using up my last few vacation days. I haven't worked out yesterday or today, unless you count walking at an outdoor outlet mall yesterday and trying on lots of clothes and shoes! It did wear me out! I hate shopping! I'm a spoiled internet shopper! It was really depressing to get 2 button down shirts and 1 pair of shoes for $100! That was on sale! Sheesh! Used to get a whole lot more out of $100! Not so much these days! Oh well, on the bright side, it was stuff I needed.

Today, I spent the bulk of my afternoon making our tamales. Not much of a workout really, but I was on my feet and not eating a thing! Now I'm exhausted! Guess I'll just start the new year off right and get my first workout of 2010 in on the 1st of January and go from there!

Have a wonderful Happy New Year everyone!
