In answer to the question, yes we have a new thread!

So, this morning I did yoga. I just was tired yesterday and took a day off. This evening I will do 4DS HIS. (4 Day Split High Intensity Step) I hoping to stay really focused on reducing body fat this month and avoid any gain over the next four weeks. Lots of healthy fats, protein, yoga, and cardio for me. I'm working on improving my job skills, my portfolio, and working towards getting a paying job.

I wish everybody a happy and healthy holiday this month!

Hi ladies,
I had a long drive home yesterday. I did get on the treadmill last night - just 30 minutes of moderately easy intervals. This morning I was pretty stiff so I just did some gentle stretching. I'm going to run 3-4 miles tonight, steady state, and then I'll start lifting again tomorrow with Pyramid Upper Body.

I didn't do too bad last week. I stepped on the scale this morning and only weighed in 1 pound heavier, the % body fat was slightly down and the %hyration was up. I wonder if that had anything to do with the Cheeto fest I had in the car on the way back . (I don't take my scale's % body fat and % hydration numbers as fact but I do like looking at them as trend lines.)

Alisha ~ Good luck sticking to and achieving your goals! Its such a challenge.

Waving hi to everyone else!
Lisa

YAY! A new thread for December. My goal this month is to stay consistent with my running to reach my goal of 1000 miles for 2009. I'm at 906 as of Sunday. If I stick with my training plan, I should make it.

Lisa - I find that when my bodyfat % goes down at the same time that my weight goes up, I'm retaining water. I don't have hydration % on my scale, but whenever that happens, I know I will lose the pound or so that I'm up just by drinking more water to flush out the retention. I find the same is true the other way - when weight is down at the same time that fat% goes up - I'm dehydrated and the weight will increase.

When I see a decrease in both I know it's valid (same goes for an increase in both-grrr!)

Today I was down in bodyfat but up a pound in weight so I figure I'll see my weight drop tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

Alisha - This is a tough time of year to stick with a goal, but I'm right there with you! You can do it!

Lisa - Glad you made it home safely!

Hi Cindi! Your going to make that 1000 miles! I just know it!

Looks like we're all trying for some solid consistency and dedication in December! I started back on my STS rotation this week. I started feeling badly about 3/4 of the way through CSB Disc 4 yesterday, but pushed through and finished. I had to take slightly longer breaks and drink lots of water, but I got there! Tonight was LM and I got sooo tired about the same place, 3/4 through, but, again, I pushed through and finished. This dang flu thing really took a toll on my endurance. My energy is back. Im making it through work without getting tired and feel good when I start my workouts, but they're killing me!

I hope this gets better soon!

Good Morning

I'm about to go for a jog, probably about 30 minutes.

Tricia- I hope you feel better.

Cindi- congrats on the impending weight loss!

Lisa- mmm Cheetos mmm

Waves hi to everybody!!!!

Good morning ladies,
My running buddy had a family emergency last night so I wound up running inside on the treadmill - 30 minutes of intervals and hills. This morning I did PUB (all of it) and now I'm ravenously hungry. The weather is nasty but I have the dogs with me today so we will have to go run in the rain and wind at the orchard tonight. If I'm feeling spunky, I want to do a Cardio Coach workout. If I'm feeling like a weenie, we'll just walk a couple of miles. The important thing is to keep on moving - right?

Tricia ~ I hope you bounce back soon! Its frustrating to feel wiped out like that.

Alisha ~ I hope you have a great jog. Let us know how you do.

Cindi ~ That's a great goal! Here's hoping that the rest of the year wraps up smoothly for you and your training regime.

Have a great day!
Lisa

Hi Everyone,

I haven't had time to workout since Friday. I have been overwhelmed with family issues so I haven't had time. I probably won't have time until the weekend. I am suppose to do a race on Saturday afternoon but I'm not sure if we are still going. I haven't run on my ankle since I sprained it although it's doing better and doesn't hurt.

Cindi ~ Good Luck on the 1000 miles. I know you will complete your goal!!

Tricia ~ Hope you get your energy back soon! Just do what you can and the rest will follow.

Lisa ~ Yes, the important thing is to keep moving. :)

Alisha ~ Good luck on your goals for this month.

Hi Ladies!

Tonight's workout was much better! It was Back and Triceps, which, for some reason, never seems quite as intense as Chest, Shoulders and Biceps! Made it through without any issues (yea!). The true test will be tomorrow when I do Cardio Kicks.

Alisha - Hope you had a nice run today!

Lisa - You are so right! No matter what you do, it's all good, as long as you get those feet going!

Jane - Glad your ankle is better! I hope you get to do your race on Saturday! If so, good luck, but I know you'll do fine! Let us know how it goes! If you don't get it in, that's okay, too! Have to take care of the priorities.

Helloes to all our MIAs, as usual! Always thinking about you!

Hi ladies,
Well I didn't even walk last night. Between the cold, dark, wind and rain I just bailed on it. The poor dogs had one of the most boring days ever and I got to hear about it last night. We played a lot of fetch in the hallway at home.

I did Pyramid Lower Body this morning. I sooo love Pyramids. Does anyone have Slow and Heavy? I was watching it on FitTv this morning and some of the moves look interesting but I think I would be totally bored doing it. I have the Gym Styles on my Christmas wishlist. I would really love Legs and Glutes but its another one of those exercises that's bundled with some form of cardio/kickboxing/step that I'm not coordinated enough to do.

Tricia - Glad your workout was better!

Jane - Glad your ankle is feeling better and I hope you are able to do your race if you're feeling up to it. Sending you good vibes and emotional support in dealing with your difficult family situation.

Alisha - How was your run? I'm having a hard time getting my eating back on track. Ick.

Cindi - How's your running program doing this week? Unfortunately there was a slight increase in both numbers on my scale this morning! I'm trying to get back on track eatingwise but... Yuck.

Have a great day everyone.
Lisa

Hi everyone! Yes - weight is down 1 pound this morning and bodyfat went up a tick - closer to what I would expect. So I think I've dropped the retained water. :)

Ran 5.5 miles yesterday, doing another 5 today. It was supposed to rain/snow here but so far nothing. Last night I ran in our downtown area which provided a lot of shelter from the wind so even though it was in the 30's it felt very comfortable.

Jane - I hope your ankle serves you well this week and you can get some runs in. (race or no race - it will be good to get out).

Lisa - the pyramids are my favorite Cathe weight workouts. I have the slow and heavy series but they don't click for me. I find them boring.

Hi Tricia and Alicia and everyone else!

To Jog is divine

I did go for my jog yesterday. It was nice and cold. There was a great big bird of prey in the yard. Truly. He (colorful, tawny, with white spots) flew from tree to tree (oak, pine, more oak) as I jogged past. I bet he is the one keeping the mouse population down. :p I'm loving my warm underwear. I can actually feel my legs even in the 30s (which for you East coasties is warm, I know ;) ) Later today it will be 4DS LIS.

Eats are mixed right now. I'm getting the protein, vegetables and fats in. I'm also getting a little bit of ice cream, a chocolate here and there, and a bite of apple pie (home made.)

Lisa- I don't run in the rain at all. SH looks like a tough workout. I tried the version on Fit TV and its harder than it looks. Maybe a podcast for entertainment?

Jane- I hope your ankle feels ok to do the race.

Tricia- Hi

Cindi- Congrats on the pound lost!

Lisa - I haven't tried the pyramid workouts yet, but do have S&H. I like it. It's tough and good for a short rotation to keep your strength up between STS rotations.

Cindi - Great run! 30's! Brrrr! I would really have to have the right cold weather gear to run in those temps! Unfortunately, I can't get up in the mornings to workout and it's too dark by the time I get off work! If they would put lights up on the bike path, now THAT I could do!

Alisha - Even living in RI, 30's is cold to me! Of course, I'm really a southern girl transplanted in the N.E., so I guess it doesn't count! I'll bet that bird of prey was pretty!

I miss my runs, but at least it gives me something to look forward to when I'm able to get started again! STS is keeping me busy and I'm doing the cardio rotation that Cathe created for that, so I'm staying busy!

Helloes to everyone else! Have a great night and a Happy Friday tomorrow!

Today it is COLD!!!! 25 and there is a light dusting of snow on the ground. I'm ok with that except the wind is at least 10 mph and it felt really cold when I was taking the kids to school. I may have reached my limit but I will try to get out for a 5 miler today. It is supposed to get into the 30's.

Ran 5.25 yesterday.

Alisha - I'm in the Chicago area and grew up in Iowa but I always feel like the 30's are cold this time of year! In March, they will feel tropical.

Hi everyone,
It is snowing here today. I had to take a friend to Asheville yesterday and got a run in while waiting for him to be done with his appointments. I did CC V5 outside - 4 miles. I was very happy. I did Providence this morning and a little yoga. I'm very excited because AOS had dvds onsale yesterday and I'm getting the Clinic for Christmas - woo hoo!! Can't wait. It has a lot of instruction and two workouts.

Cindi ~ I tend to be okay running in the cold but the combination of cold and wind puts it over the top for me - ick!

Tricia and Alisha ~ I think I'm going to try Gym Styles before Slow and Heavy. I think they will be more my speed :). I tend to do whatever workout strikes my fancy rather than a rotation, I guess I ought to work on that.

Alisha ~ Very cool on the raptor. Were you able to figure out what he was? I love birds of prey.

Jane ~ What was the decision on the race? Hope you had a good weekend either way.

Lisa

Hi Everyone!

I did my race this afternoon. It was a beautiful day with highs in the low 50's and a brisk wind that made it seem colder (reminded me of Chicago). The sun was out and the leaves are still changing here so it was really pretty. My ankle felt GREAT!!! I started out slow but felt good mid race. My cardio was a little lacking but my time was consistent with what I normally do so I wasn't hindered in any way. I'm so excited that my ankle is healed. I'm looking forward to getting back to working out regularly again.

Cindi ~ Great run in the cold!! I feel like such a wimp compared to you!!

Lisa ~ I LOVE the Gym Style Series. I have Slow and Heavy but it tends to be a little "slow" for me.

Hi to Tricia and Alisha!!

Morning Everyone!

I'm grateful we didn't get too much snow! Not yet, anyway! We had such a rough winter last year, that I'm hoping the snowfalls stay this mild this year!

Cindi- You are made of steel! No way, I could run in that weather! Brrr!

Lisa- Great mix of workouts yesterday! I did nothing but run errands! Lots of 'em!

Jane - Congratulations on your run! Especially that your ankle is back to normal! When I finish STS, I'll have to try out the Gym Styles. Everyone I know loves that series!

I did my STS legs on Friday. Hadn't done legs in 2 weeks. Wow! It was really tough for me! I hope it starts getting better now that I'm about 90% well!

Going to go make breakfast now!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did the following workout:

100 swings
100 pull over sit ups
75 squats
50 push ups
25 ball slams

My legs were really sore from the race yesterday.

Tricia ~ I hope you don't much snow this year.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Good morning,
Yesterday I did yoga, half of Ellen Barrett's SlowRobics on FitTV and split a huge stack of firewood. I didn't workout this morning but plan on taking the dogs for a run this afternoon and maybe lifting this evening. The heater went out in the greenhouse this weekend and we lost a lot of stuff so I'm worrying about that more than anything today.

Jane - Sounds like a great workout. Glad you had a good race despite your injury.

Tricia - I'm with you! We can both keep our fingers crossed for a mild winter.

Hi to Alisha and Cindi and everyone else.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Lisa

Hi everyone!

I ended up not working out Friday - cleaned the house instead and went grocery shopping. Saturday I ran 6, yesterday I ran 9. That puts me at 932 for the year so I'm in good position to hit 1000 by the end of the year. I hope the weather holds out!

Saturday was sunny and around 34, yesterday was cloudy and maybe a hair warmer 36. The winds have been pretty light so that helps! And I'm loving my CW-X tights.

Doing cardio/sculpt today. Aiming for at least 25 miles this week.

Oh and I started my Christmas cooking/etc. this weekend. I made two kinds of eggnog - one with the booze and one without. And 3 kinds of fudge - peanut butter, merry mint, and chocolate. The chocolate was my grandma's recipe and I've never made it before. I was calling my mom at 9 pm last night asking her questions as I went along. Thank goodness for digital candy thermometers. I don't know how I would survive testing candy the old fashioned way (with the cold water - drop the candy in - do any of you remember that?)

Jane - Great job at the race! I'm glad your ankle cooperated.
Lisa - how much do you have in your greenhouse? I hope you don't lose more!
Hi to everyone else. :)

Cindi,
It's one of my two 28 x 48 foot greenhouse at the school. Its full of the plants that we have already started for the spring sale. The heater went down last night and temps were down in the teens outside, there was ice on the inside of the plastic this morning. I can't get in there to figure out just what is dead because there was the smell of gas in the greenhouse this morning and the maintenance guys are digging up the gas lines now. Yuck.
