Hi Clare,
I'm glad that you're going to try them out!
Has your fall semester started yet?
Yes, the kettlebells at Target at the Go Fit ones, and they are really nice in terms of quality! When you pick one up, just be sure to check the handle to make sure that it's nice and smooth. As you can see from the above thread, some folks don't wear gloves, but I always do since I don't want to get too many callouses.
I started with a 15# one, but then quickly realized that I needed a 20# one, too, for moves like swings. You'll find that a heavier bell is actually better for certain moves, esp. ones that you power through with your legs. So perhaps start with a 15# and then see how it feels. You could even check out some moves on Anthony's website before you go to Target, and then try to practice some of them in Target with a 15# and with a 20# to see which one feels better. (When I did this, I just checked to make sure that no one was around!
)
Right now, performbetter.com is also having a good sale with cheap shipping on kettlebells. (I'm thinking of ordering a few more sizes!)
I'm always happy to help!
I'm certainly no expert on kettlebells, but I'm glad to pass on what I've learned the last few months. I remember, too, that last year, when I first started lifting with Cathe, you very patiently answered a bunch of questions for me! I really appreciated it so much!
Let me know if you have any more questions! I'm subscribed to this thread, but you can also PM or email me.
Yes, it was so great this year meeting Amy, Cathe, and now Coach Sean! I'm dizzy with it!
Now I bet you could certainly talk Mr. Sand Dude into a trip out to Michigan . . . .
