New Jari Love workout

CONS: Definitely not an "advanced" workout....I enjoyed the RTTC workout much more and also Slim and Lean much more....I will have to increase the weights and add a rise to my step in order to really feel like I am burning the whole way through......

The 70 pushups are just like Cathe's doing the drop down squats and also the squats and back lunges are EXTREMELY similar to what Cathe does in Butts N Gutts, except she utilizes the step for the lunge portion....

The ab section was not long enough -

My triceps feel neglected -

Pros: Its a nice change of pace from Cathe - it would be good on a day where you need a little bit of cardio and also some stabilizing work and total body work, but just don't have your A Game with you...its good to have a variety of levels in your workout routine....

I did enjoy the clean and press tempo and my biceps did get a good burn - - the other positive thing is that it would be easy to increase your weight load on this one and continue doing the cardio segments when she stops to stretch - -

Overall though - It was ok but I will try it again with increased weights/higher riser and more cardio

Well, I consider myself an advanced exerciser and I thought it was extremely challenging. Different strokes, I guess :)

I always increase my weights with Jari's workouts :D

Just got it yesterday -- I haven't reviewed it yet. I'll read on to se what everyone else thinks.

YOU CAN BUY THIS FROM DEEP DISCOUNT DVD FOR $8.17 (and with free shipping). You'll have to search "Get Ripped" and it will pull up
GET RIPPED-RIPPED 1000. (It's not searchable under Jari Love). Great DVD for this price.

I just picked up 3 of Jari Love's workouts (RTTC, S&L, and 1000) for $4 each at Ross!!! I also picked up two other ones from The Method for about $5 each! We'll See!

I have all of Jari's workouts and often alternate these with the Cathe DVDs I have, plus Amy Bento's workouts.

Ripped 1000 is a good circuit workout. I would say that it is advanced, but I am getting a higher calorie burn on my HRM with the new Cathe workouts. Hmmm, wonder if the workout lengths have something to do with that.:)

What I like about Ripped 1000: It is good for days when you want an intense workout but simply cannot mentally handle step choreography. I do think that it is hard enough to be worth doing. And I also believe in alternating different instructors worth their salt with Cathe, just to keep my body in shock mode. Good simple hour length.

What I don't like: The step is alternately vertical and horizontal in the cardio sections with no warning. Even though you can simply just turn to the side, it is frustrating to have to think about throughout the DVD. The music and fun factor is not up to Cathe level.

I have all of Jari's workouts too and I find they are a nice change from Cathe and numerous other workouts I have. She has her little sayings that she repeats, but most instructors do - it doesn't bother me. Ripped 1000 I found challenging because at 5'2" it's harder for me to jump up and down off of the step quickly, but I got the hang of it. I think Slim and Lean is my favorite of all four, but boy am I sore after doing all of those reps!

Jari seems to get skinnier with each workout and she really looked better in the first one than she does in Ripped 1000. I don't like seeing ribs. I also believe the workout outfit she chose for Ripped 1000 makes her look even thinner. I still really like her workouts and her personality. She makes you smile while you burn just like Cathe. }(

I did this one last nigh for the first time. MY Gosh, I don't think I ever sweated so much. (However I did do Extreme Hi/Lo before it and was already sweaty).I thought it was tough. I was wiped out after it and still feel wiped out this AM. Of all of Jari's workouts, I liked this one the most.

I love Jari - her workouts are so efficient and to the point, and her voice is so soothing and kind...BUT, I just sent her an email with my concern , she is painfully skinny in this one...not just model lean and buff, but emaciated...the workout is great, but I found myself worrying about her in it...she seemed wan and fragile despite the muscles...must be the 1/4 Italian mixing in the Irish blood, I have an impulse to wrap her in a flannel blanky and feed her lots of carbs and dairy to plump her out a bit! She would be as beautiful 20 pounds heavier, don't ya think?

ps - the workout kicks butt

I agree with the people who think this is a KILLER workout, I did it Saturday for the first time and it just seemed relentless. I was using an 8" step though - the cardio was very intense and the compound moves make your heart rate stay up through the entire workout. To me it was as difficult as Boot Camp, and both of them are at the top of my most-difficult-circuit-workout list. I love this workout though and I REALLY love the price of Jari's workouts. I'm not a person who notices music much so I don't really care about music as long as it has a beat, so if she's saving a little money on the music that's fine with me. I think it will have a nice effect for her as many more people will buy her workouts since they're so affordable and she'll really become a household name.

I also think that Jari is very thin. My DH and I were speculating about whether she is too thin in this video and boy, I could argue it either way. Her legs look very thin, her ribs show, she's thinner than in her previous workouts, but on the other hand she does complete the workout fairly easily and her upper body is fairly muscular. Hard to say if it's just super-clean eating combined with an ectomorphic physique, or if it's a little too extreme.

I think tha some of the upper body muscle is just like that on Pam Anderson: it shows because there's not much covering it. I found the visible rib cage (and not just on moves where she is bending to the side) disturbing.

I did Ripped 1000 for the first time yesterday. It was tough and I liked it - the time actually flew by. But the weight work seemed so unbalanced. It seemed like some form of squat was done on every exercise. Chest is worked hard in the "push-up party" and then again on another track for presses and flies. Yet the triceps were worked only with a single 5# dumbbell - and that was more of a balance challange than true tricep work.

I did what someone suggested and on the track with supine chest work, I substituted lying tricep extensions (skull crushers) for the flies.
