New here

Hi All,

This is my first post. I've been lurking and reading here for awhile. What a great community!

I kind of came here today to brag. I just went shopping at the mall. I had some gift certificates from about 2, maybe 3 years ago. I didn't want to use them until I lost some major weight. (Kind of sad, I know.) Well, I was in tears today. I can fit into size 6 pants at the Gap, Banana Republic etc. Last year at this time I was wearing a size 20 and could only shop at Lane Bryant and in the Woman's section of department stores. I was happy when I went to a size 12/14, but with Cathe's workouts I keep shrinking. It's fantastic! I was flexing in the fitting room and smiling and laughing to myself.

One of the interesting things, and this is the main reason I posted here, is that my weight hasn't changed much in the last 3-4 months. Maybe a few pounds, but my body shape and size is changing rapidly. I'm almost exclusively Cathe now and loving every minute of it.

Thanks for reading.

Kim

RE: Wow!

Kim,

That is awesome. You mean you have been lurking THAT LONG?? Well, do tell.....how did you lose so much in a years time?? What was your rotation????

RE: Wolf whistle here!!!

Hey thanks all!

Naughtoj,

I've been lurking around the message boards for a few months. Last fall I started a really healthy/clean lifestyle/diet. I'm a vegetarian but I used to live on veggie junk food - lots of oils and fattening breads, vegan cookies, etc. Now I try to eat closest to the original form as I can. I eat lots of whole grains, beans, vegetables (including lots of brown rice, and all kinds of potatoes), fruits and some soy products. I love eating like this because I never go hungry. These foods are filling and low-fat and low calorie too. I used to be on a lot of blood pressure medication. When I started eating like this my blood pressure dropped immediately.

I found Cathe some time this year. I bought a DVD player and most of Cathe's DVDs. Before that I was using Joyce Vedral's books. I don't have a set rotation but I've been using PS and PH for upper body for the past month or so. For lower, it's LL and PH. I'm thinking of adding one more upper a week, maybe MIS, and doing the tank top rotation. I do cardio about 3-4 times a week. When I first started losing weight I did cardio almost every day but it became too much for my knees. I just bought a step this year and try to vary my workouts more.

Thanks for asking.

Kim

Awesome awesome work, Kim! That is such a fantastic achievement for you. That feeling in the dressing room in banana republic is one of the best ever, isn't it?
Keep on trucking, and congrats on your success!!!!

Congratulations! You go girl! I know how emotional trying clothes on can be after losing weight. When my sister dropped 85 pounds and could buy pants that were a size 12 instead of an 18 or 20, I was the one who cried when she stepped out of the fitting room!
Glad you decided to join us!

RE: New here- Congratulations!!!

That's wonderful news. You must be so proud! I've been using Cathe's tapes for about 2.5 years. My VCR broke down about 1 year ago and I ran instead. However I ended up putting on about 7 pounds! :-( I finally started Cathe again about a month ago and the weight is gone! :) I think it's her tapes as well as her personality that just get you to feel so good about yourself!
Congrats again! You did a great thing for yourself!! Susan

Great job! You must be very proud!!! Keep up the good work, and visit us often.

Oh my Gosh. HUGE congrats to you. You are amazing!!! That is a unbelievable gift you've given (and are giving) yourself. Cheers to you!
And welcome, too :)

Wunderbar! Speaking of "bar", do ya wanna do something really amazing? See how many pounds you've lost then try to lift a barbell of that same weight. I do that every now and then when I don't feel like working out and really crave a Coffee Time Harvest Corn muffin (hey, some people crave donuts, I crave muffins!). Anyways, lifting a 45-pound barbell reminds me how much that 45 lbs I lost several years ago REALLY weighs, and spurs me on to work out.

Kim, my heartfelt congratulations to you!

great to read such a positive account!!!!! nt

Take time to enjoy those who matter most to you & do all things in moderation :)

Wow!! :) Kim, Congratulations! and WELCOME to the group..I'm pretty new here too. I just have to say that I still can't fit into a size 6 and I only have 6 lbs to lose. I'm short so the weight comes off slow.....

But that's great!Keep up the good work!

Wow! Thanks everyone for your kind words. You all are really great!

Patricia, I'd have to lift a 70-pound barbell and I don't have enough plates for that. That is interesting. That's probably the size of my 9-year-old niece. I'll try lifting her next time I see her.
