New floor, but step is slipping . . .

I just replaced my living room carpet with laminate flooring - it is great for aerobics, except now my step slides gradually throughout the workout. It is especially bad when doing lunges onto the step. Has anyone else had this problem, and what might you recommend - pads on the bottom of the step, a mat on the floor, etc.?

TIA,

We just converted our garage into a gym and put laminate flooring though I still havent tried it because I'm 7 months pregnant thats something I fear that I might slip and fall on my face. You said it works for doing aerobics...I'm looking forward to having this baby and starting insanity but don't want to fall on my face. Thinking about maybe putting some sort up padding maybe a carpet when doing aerobics.

Maybe try the sticky padding that you can buy to line the bottom of kitchen drawers? It's also used under cutting boards to hold them in place. I used these under my step when i had puzzle mats and it worked pretty well. You can buy it in the kitchen dept of most stores.

Your new flooring sounds nice! :) My old gym had wood floors and we laid a resistance band underneath the risers for step class (1 on each side). A yoga mat will also work, as SteppingFool has already suggested.

works!

Thanks guys, the yoga mat did the trick! In fact, I cut it so I have one section for my regular step and one for the high step. Love the new floor - it's sooo much better than working out on carpet. Just have to get used to hearing my steps - or turn up the stereo
