New Fitness 3D mirror to measure fat, weigh etc

I have no interest in a personal model but I would see were this could help a lot of people with maintaining health.

@Cafelattee

This looks promising indeed. Being a nurse yourself, how do you think this tool could help those suffering from
emotional/psychological eating disorders?:)

I hope we could have more information about this tool from other reputable source than
Daily mail!

get rid of the stupid BMI formulas that don't account for muscle/fat ratios

They do not even account for differences in bone density for ethnicity/descent! Such a flawed measure for weight health altogether. Although, up till now I suppose, the measurement around the waistline (particularly for men) & BMI is what we have.

I am not totally sure how I feel about this new mirror technology. On one hand, of course it has beneficial (and perhaps more accurate) clinical implications, although I can see all the extra stats/numbers etc. as something else for us to obsess about. I am not against technology, don't get me wrong. ;)

I can see where you are coming from reading this above. The all obsession about how most women feel about themselves is
the real issue. I can not see how such tool would solve the issue. My suggestion is just close all those magasines and stop
listening and watching Hollywood report!!!!:)

I am not a nurse but am a CMA and a DA. On a personal level I have been diagnosed as a young adult with body
dysmorphia. I think to me this would be wonderful for that situation because you can actually see by the changes that u in fact are gaining muscle on fat.
With body dysmorphia I can look in the mirror and see a fat big person no matter how small I got. It was as if the mirrors were fun mirrors in a fun house however, not fun. The only way I could see that I was not what I thought I was when I saw a picture of me amount people not realizing it was me. I would think that was someone else in the picture till I seen my face then realized I was not what I saw in my mirror. I was at the time 103 I lost all the way down from 173 so I would always see the 173. So I think this scale would put into perspective the reality that is. Not what our brain try's to tell us. Same as the pictures did for me.
Many thought I was too small and looking back I may have been for my frame. Now I have the same problem but I can't tell what the reality is. I think I am a good size but pictures show I am bigger then what I think!!! I have gained up to 30 pounds now and I am now 46 yrs old. So I my mind I know I need to lose some but not as much as I really need to. However now instead of the mind set of getting skinny I want to be muscular and strong and healthy. So I think this scale of in the doctors office would be very beneficial for everyone.

Some people like my son doesn't realize he has weight to lose he has a fatty liver and it isn't alcohol, he doesn't drink. It is he eats junk and his weight is in his stomach and his real dad had a heart attack at age 35. I think if he saw this it would show that he in fact does need to lose and the ab area is most dangerous.

If a person is anorexic It will show them just how unhealthy there body is.
It can in my opinion also explain to people who are small yet doesn't exercise exactly why they can be "skinny fat".

So in my opinion it would be a Benefit for all people. Maybe some will need and benefit with it if they can get counseling in conjunction with using it to see how they are understanding the concept of what they are seeing is reality.
Of course I am not an expect, and am sure the others who are more versed in this area can say more.
But as a person who can't see reality in my mirror I feel it would be an eyeopener

@ReneePruitt

I think opening yourself up and put your journey in writting is the best approach against dysmorphia.
Wish you the best ever to get through this. The loss of your son did not help I know but be strong and make
working out as enjoyable as possible. I think you are in a good track by willing to be muscular and strong.

Yes I agree that such tool could help. Now that you have explained from the facts you are facing, I understand.
Interesting interaction Renee, Take care;)

This looks really interesting. I would do this in a heartbeat. It would be a curious thing to see your body in this way as we often see ourselves differently from what we actually are. It would certainly be an eye opener.
