New favorite step workout

I just got my copy of Step Blast today and did the workout. I had tried it once with FitTv, but with the commercial interruptions and the amount they cut out - I didn't really get the full effect. THAT is a fun workout! Maybe it's because I really like the soundtrack (Prince is my favorite musician - and even though it's not him singing, it's close enough for me). I kind of missed the perceived exertion test, though. It always gave me a nice few seconds to "rest".

Hi Donna! I love this workout too; did it this morning. Huge fun factor. Everytime I do it I find a new favourite part, today it was combo 1 'two claps on the corner pony down rock back reverse hop turn'. Sooooo FUN!!! Cathe is a choreography genius, who else can make such challenging work so completely enjoyable?? Your right about the music, I was stunned when I first realised I was stepping to "Paint it Black", awesome!!!

Take Care

Hi Donna and Laurie...I agree completely! There's nothing I DON'T love about this workout. The music is fantastic and fits the moves so perfectly. I can never decide between doing this one and Imax 2 because I love both of 'em so much! lol

I looked at my calendar this morning and saw that I was actually supposed to do IMAX2 yesterday. I'm kind of bummed that today is a leg day, because I'm itching to do IMAX2. Oh well...that will be tomorrow!

The only reason I was able to remember the steps from the first combo. when we went back for the challenge was because I was remembering the Prince songs. I just love that little guy.

It's so nice to have one of these workouts with every song one that I like. In Rhythmic Step, there's this one song that is playing while you do the lunge/mambo combination and it just goes right through me. The chick caterwalling for it seems forever! That's the only thing I don't like about that tape.

Step Blast is my absolute favourite step workout, too, and the reason is primarily the music. The choreography is fun, but the music makes it even better. I get so into the third combo and the challenge, particularly when you do the "2xtriples, over-the-step, squat." When you squat, it hits the beat of the music just perfect, and encourages me to go a bit deeper than I might otherwise do. And Paint it Black is fabulous in this workout. I especially love the rendition of Fast Car for the cool-down.

Donna, I'm with you on the music in Rhythmic Step. It is monotonous and ultimately annoying. I love RS as a step workout, but can only do it about once a month, otherwise the music drives me nuts. Think how fun that workout could be with some of the music from the Body Blast series....

Cheers,
Sandra

I really like this workout. The first time I did it I thought I was flying. The music is so great.I love the premix 90 minutes mixing SB and SJP cardio.Try it.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying the premixes on this DVD. I'm going to be doing S&H this week, so maybe next week I'll do the premixes. I guess that will depend on whether Cathe has time to do November rotation. I like being told what to do (as far as which workouts, that is. Otherwise - I hate it!)x(

I love this one too and over did it when I first got it. So to spice it up a little this weekend, I did the WU and Step only from HSTA first and then the premix that lets you do Cardio 1 & 3 and then the blast section at the end. It clocked in at about 55-56 minutes. It made Step Blast even funner!

Cathe's giftedness as an instructor amazes me. All of her workouts are excellent, but where she REALLY shines is in her step workouts. Step Blast is phenomenal!

Step Blast is my all time favorite step workout. Love the fast foot repeaters in section 3. Over the weekend I did the 85 minute premix that has most of Step Blast and all of the hi/low circuit, and it was tons of fun. I added extra weights at the end, but quickly ran out of steam. How great is that Step Blast Challenge? I could do that every day!

Hi
Today I did the 82 minute Step Blast and Weights premix. Oh my! I didn't want the hi/lo from SJP but I wanted a circuit weight workout so this was perfect. Very challenging but fun. :) /karen
